  1. Oh I am not afraid to get a kick - somewhere- LOL. Well anyway- one can always bring along his own butler- can´t we? Usually my personal vallet is on holiday when I go- so my butler would be a perfect choice.
  2. Agreed- either of the Royal Ladies would do. Some distant day in the future ( maybe not sooo distand) there sure will be a Queen Camilla joining the Cunard fleet.
  3. Sovereign - the mother of all modern cruise ships- along with Majesty and Monarch- all of them gone by now- except for Majesty. The following class- Vision Class- was my first experience ( Grandeur) with those- at that time- " Super- Liners" as they where called.
  4. Interessting topic. The only butler I experienced have been on MSC - Yacht Club. I never did need a butler- and I always wondered why they ( X) did not stopp that long ago. Give me a nice cabin steward any day - Lol.
  5. I did the Maiden Voyage on Apex, right after Covid - an unforgetable experience- it was not only the Maiden Voyage but also the first ship in Europe ( X) to restart after 2 years - almost - with no cruises at all. I loved my SV cabin- I would never book any other cabin ( except for a Suite of course- but I like the REAL balcony cabin. I asked the cabin stewart if he could provide me with a lounger, which he did. So I am pretty sure Hawk 1 that you will like you Apex- experience.
  6. Even though no longer with the United States Restaurant I can´t wait to embark on board Infinity in 10 days. Also she got a bit of a make over- so even though a rather old Lady I am sure I will love every minuite - 4th time that I booked a cruise on Infinity. The only Milli- Class ship I sailed but once is Summit.
  7. Sea days are Cunard´s forte- I would say. They have the best lecturers and esp. those long sea days on a Transatlantic- nothing better, esp. for those who have been to many ports and enjoy the tranquility and charme of a bygone era, which one finds with Cunard. There a port intensive voyages, too, of course- but I avoid them these days. I am a big fan of their Prommenade Decks- all of the Cunarders have them- with the exception of Queen Anne- not yet in Service- of course.
  8. Infinity used to sail back to Hawai from San Diego. I would do that again - if they would still do that.
  9. Change is the only constant I have read once- very true. Sadly not always for the better. X- has kind of " watered down " their product- still a great cruise experience though- so I return for the occaisional voyage to X- sailing mostly Cunard these days.
  10. e& mscruise- how brave you are - some aks a smoking related question - masking it as - I want to avoid a balcony where smoke driffts to- some are really concered - some masking the question thus.
  11. That will never happen Ray.
  12. So we wait patiently for the first pictures - real ones- not renderings - from the Cunard Queen- also the godmother is still not named. In keeping with tradition I pretty sure it is a member of the Royal Family - The Princess Royal would suit I guess.
  13. Yes it was the Olympic Restaurant on board Milli. Loved, loved that Restaurant. I agree Question Everything- a different world- and I also agree- not always for the better. All other Spec. Restaurants on board Milli- Class ships where great- Ocean Liners- Constellation, Normandie - Summit, United States - Infinity. Hm. A shame really that they changed those wonderful rooms into Tuscany.
  14. I remember those stripped Jackets very well- in those early days every night had a theme. Really something special- so I found.
  15. Australia is the part of the world I have never been- that is still on my bucket list- but for this part of the world a lot more time is required as I currently have.
  16. Hi all seasoned X cruisers. I found a nice topic over at the RCI- board- about an old RCI - Ship ( Song of America) ! I rather liked those old pictures and memories of voyages- cruises - past. So I thought to share a few pictures of my first voyages on board Millenium, Summit... ! Those pictures are from 2001 and 2002 - Millenium and Summit. Both the Speciality Restaurants as they appeared back then. Those have been wonderul Speciality - Restaurants. Tuscany Grill- nice too, but far from the old style- my opinion - of course. Nr.2.bmp
  17. I would say we seasoned cruises have all the same " problem" ( which of course is not really a problem- and if- well a rather very very luxurious problem) - that we saw most of the ports of call already. So since a few years- I really don´t care where my ship goes- as long as I am on a ship. LOL. In some of the Caribbean ports I don´t even bother to go a shore- and if.- just to have a little walk around. Those " beach brakes" are the worst- rather book a day pass at a nice resort on the Islands- than being carted to another overcroded beach - sometimes a little nickel and dime attached- since mostly chairs are not included in the price... !
  18. Glad I found that old resurected thread- I am quite fond of a little walk down memory lane. I saw S of A. quite a few times, when docked next to her. My first big ship was the then brand new Grandeur of the Seas- and I have the fondest memories of that wonderful ship. Stunning views - lot´s of glas- wonderful connection to the sea. Unfortunatley the Royal Ships these days are no longer the vocused on that- so many lounges - bars indoors- no view or window at all. Prommenade Decks that do not deserve that name. Thanks for posting this little video with that wonderful song of the live of Song of America.
  19. Perfect idea EX- Air- or maybe- Tansatlantics starting in Florida- then back- and visa versa...! Samsung flat screens are installed since at least 10 years in the Millenium Class.
  20. I fear all four M- Class ships are not around the X- Brand for very much longer. I am quite sure after all Edge Class Things are out- they have to go. More´s the pitty- since they are my favorite class of the X- Brand- but that´s time- not to avoid- and from the buisness point of view- quite understandable.
  21. Let the dust settle and book in a while- the prices will go down.
  22. Oh yes, I really like what I saw so far from the renderings of QA´s interiour. Agreed, with all the Superliners and floating funparks the one thing that makes a sea voyage special- the connection with the sea- is totaly lost. During the end of Covid there where great offers for MSC´s Yacht Club- so I took the chance and tried that. on board their Seaside ships Class. Three decks in front of the ship are reserved and only accesed via your ship card - for the Yacht Club guests. I nice experience, where all is glas - so you are " at sea" there. For the other part of the ship- not so much- most lounges, restaurants are " indoors" with sometimes no windows at all. So the only way I would ever go back to them is in Yacht Club. Seaside Class has also a wrap round Prom Deck- the liveboats hanging beneath that deck. So that is a real plus with this class of ships. But give me a Cunarder instead any day. LOL.
  23. I totaly agree, with everything you wrote- including the name decision- LOL. Aquitania would have been my favorite name. So do I- waiting until the dust has settled a bit and maybe a short voyage ( which in my case means a 7 nighter) to see how it works without the Prom Deck. I wrote about the Prom Deck very early on- and was called a " Prom- Deck- whiner" - which- of course I admit- I am. LOL.
  24. That guy telling about the 5000 did a nice promotion stunt. Doesn´t it sound much better- that Cunard- God bless them- puts only 3000 instead of 5000 on board it´s new ship? Very clever that move- people will tell their friends- " See Cunard does not go for the max pax idea". Never ever was the QA planed for 5000 passengers.
  25. Well, as I really like Cunard - the style - the ships, I am, of course curious about Queen Anne. The Maiden Voyage approches fast. I hesitated to book a voyage on board QA. I will wait and see how the Cunard fans adapt to the new ship. How will the lack a of Cunard trademark- the Prom- Deck be taken? How did they manage to change the ship from the Konigsdam Class to a real Cunarder. Cunard ships are known that one is connected with the sea at every twist and turn. Is that still the case with QA? I sailed on board HAL`s Nieuw Amsterdam- which is basicly built as QA- and to be honest- never again on this ship class. All that remains to be seen. Can´t wait for the first hand reports from on board QA.
