  1. Neither can I- as said above. We will have to wait and see.
  2. Even if they do not offer them for all- I am glad they could fix her up in time.
  3. LOL. You may be right- it´s just that the Coronation AND May 2nd are almost around the corner.
  4. I would book this " Coronation Voyage" in a heartbeat- but they do not show up on any TA- Webside. Me thinks they are only for " invited guests"!
  5. It really sounds good- so they seem to be able to fix QM2´s problems, which makes me feel a bit more relaxed for June 9th. LOL.
  6. Very strange- yesterday all May sailings disappeared from the website of my TA, which name, of course will not be named. Today they have 3 short trips from Soto to Hamburg and visa verse and the Fjord Voyage starting at 9.5. ! We´ll have to wait and see.
  7. As it beomces more an more clear that QM2 is longer out of service I am sure they will have to put her into drydock. So it looks rather dire for the May voyages.
  8. Fingers crossed for June 9th indeed. I am also on this voyage- well seem rather like I am supposed to be on that voyage.
  9. Losing money is always a bad thing, I agree. But traveling with Cunard is never ever cheap- so I agree with MylesS- when you can afford such a trip one has sure a little back up money on the side. I hope everyone affected can settle their journeys home or onward journeys. Good thing we have Cruise Critic, so we are always on the up of things.
  10. I am terribly sorry to read that the crossing is canceled. Not Cunard´s fault- but still I can imagine how dissapointed you all are. I was booked on both canceled voyages but had to jump ship, due to a family crisis- illness. All the best for you all.
  11. Oh - and I will do so in a bit more than a month. LOL.
  12. 3 red Gen Cunarder- Chamnpagne Bar is also my spot after breakfast - great view´s out to the sea.
  13. I have never been on any cruise, on board any shipe with whichever cruise line- where I did not hear some creaking sounds- I rather like it- makes me feel I am on a board a ship. I would recommend to stick with land based vacations if you don´t want to be disturbed by a noise every ship makes. I saw and head the videos - yes- but I really did not find it to unusual. Just remember YOU ARE ON BOARD A SHIP- THAT THING MOVES- IT IS BOUND TO MAKE SOME NOISE- IT IS BOUND TO SHIFT NOW AND THEN!
  14. Both- maybe Chart room during the day- to hear the " Gong at noon" and Commodore in the evening. Can´t decide which one I like better.
  15. @pattacake, I will follow you along, I am right curios about how you find X compared to RCI. I switched from RCI to X in 2001- and almost never turned back- well twice in 22 years- LOL. RCI - Ships are stunning with the " Wouw- factor" included. For me the RCI fun ended with the Voyager Class- all above got to big for my taste- well maybe not to big but to much indoor venues without kind of a connection out to the sea. On my last RCI cruise I found out about the " towel policy " - quite new back in 2004- that was the last straw and the last of my RCI cruises. Even with all the changes X still provides a refined cruise experience. I do not know what ship you choose for your very first X- experience- but in my humble opinion the new Edge Class ships, even though some parts are quite nice, are a failor- Outside- Cabins with a window to open ( they call them " Verandah- Cabins...") - a totaly missconstruced Martini Bar - in the middle of the ship- anoying loud - all around not a single quite lounge to be found...! As long as M and S- Class ships around no Edge Class ship will see me again.
  16. As long as - for example - Eden Bar and Lounge, Martini Bar on board their Edge Class vessels are packed every evening- and people enjoying themselfes, they wont do a thing about the noise level. For me it is unbearable- so I avoid Edge Class ships. ( Not only for that reason) X- Ships got louder by the year- to attract a younger clientel- quite understandable since the older generation and old X- veterans are dying out. I moved to Cunard with a X cruise throwen in from time to time- then on S- or - even better M- Class ships!
  17. Those where the days. Titanic was supposed to arrive in New York at April 17th. So three days for turn around. Thanks for posting.
  18. Oh you cheap people- do book a suite and go to the Retreat- no problem there. Just kidding of course- forgive my black kind of humor. I never booked a suite on board X- ships. I do not like to stay around the pool- toooooo loud, to crowded. However I know the RCI follows the checking in and out programm with their towels. That I find really disgusting! I also prefer the cards X does put on loungers- much more sophisticated and the passengers are treated as adults. On the other side passengers really should behave as adults and not blocking lounge chairs for hours on end. I suppose those chair hugs are staying as long as there are cruise ships sailing the 7 seas.
  19. Thank for this wonderful review- we did the same itinerary in October last year. We loved it also. The Millenium Class of ships are the oldest in the fleet- and also by far my- our favorites. I came from RCCL also before moving to X in 2001. I switched back and forh a bit. Then they did towel- checking in thing. That was it for me- i never turned back. RCCI has and always had stunning- Wouw - ships- but X provided a much better product. I now switch between Cunard and X- as one get´s older ones tastes seem to age along- LOL.
  20. There is one time I avoid cruising- or traveling - at all costs- and this is Spring Break. I agree on the point the OP made- Celebrity- our beloved- X is e trying to " Dance on every Party" - cater to all tastes and all age groups. This a " balance act" and a very hard one. The dempgraphic change has arrived with them. To stay in business they have to move on with times- younger passengers are their future passengers. When I started cruising with X I was in my early 30´s - that was in 2001. I was in the very young age group back then- most passengers I sailed with where in their 50´s or 60´s. I made livelong friends on those early X- cruises ( coming from RCI) , most of them have now sadly passed away. So - yes X did change- but i fear they HAD TO CHANGE- to surrive!
  21. Ha- if I would be one of those poor homless I would try and hide out in the terminal and get myself on board QM2 as a stowaway. LOL. There must be some way around the contol points at the gangway...! I hope the City of New York is giving them agreeable accomadations.
  22. Stupid question No. 358- is the water in the faucets in the cabin proclaimed drinking water?
  23. I check a couple of times ace- our voyage is not listed, so take that as in- no test requiered.
  24. Oh i would not have minded to dock in Manhattan- well - we will see.
  25. 99 cruises- well thats what I call a seasoned cruiser. As the OP I sailed Celebrity and Cunard during the last 10 or so years. Before that it was RCI with a few cruises with Mein Schiff or Costa ( just once) thrown in. I read you booked yourself into the YC - so you can´t go wrong. NEVER book anything else with MSC when coming from X and Cunard. The difference is very crass otherwise. The Seaside Class - now four ships - are great- stunning views and a wonderful prommenade deck- so wide you almost feel as if you are walking " near the ship" with plenty of seating options. When the choise ( Itinerary, price...) is between Celebrity and MSC YACHTCLUB I would choose MSC.
