  1. Title says it all. We're looking at V2 veranda cabins on decks 7 and 8 on the Eclipse. I see from videos that some of those cabins have the bed by the head ( aka "bathroom") while others have the bed placed next to the balcony/veranda. I figure there is probably some clue on the deck diagrams, but I cannot figure it out yet. Im my experience with other lines, bed placement usually has to do with whether or not the cabin has a connecting door with the next door cabin. Anyone know for sure on the Eclipse? Can anyone tell me if the Eclipse was revolutionized? Last I heard "somewhere" she was to have been in late 2021? I thought that would be featured prominently at celebrity.com, but it's not, so I'm assuming she has not gotten the treatment yet. Doug
  2. Well, that's good enough for me, sounds like no more coffee and croissants brought by the staff gratis for us to enjoy on the balcony. Sigh. I won't pay at least $6 USD for that; and that's assuming that "delivery fee" is for both of us. I'm just too Scottish for that. Many of the things that "used to be" don't bother me, but this one really does. I guess I'm getting lazy<er> in my old age. <g> So, back to my old routine of hiking up to the lido deck with our insulated cups and my cargo shorts with its large pockets! At least I know they coffee will be hot and the croissants will be warm.....the latter due to body heat only no doubt. 😉 Plus then I can say I exercised that day! Thanks for all the replies. I'll have to read the FAQ link and the posts above again and see what is the "enhanced room service menu". We rarely eat breakfast anyway, so the enhanced does us no good, but I realize that to some this might be a great deal. When we do have a breakfast, we walk up to the lido deck usually. We also plan to cruise on RCI out of NOLA, alternating between RCI and NCL depending on the itinerary and the price. I hope RCI hasn't decided to do as NCL with their breakfast room service. Gotta check that out....... Doug
  3. UKStages posted: "the coffee and croissants are free. there is a $4.95 service fee. there didn’t use to be (for breakfast), but now there is."" MitchTech posted: "So as I read it, morning coffee and continental breakfast even if you're not in haven are free. If you order hot foods then it's a charge. Am I reading this wrong. Has anyone ordered just coffee and gotten a 4.95 charge? " And you said that "$4.95 plus tip applies to everything". At least that's how I interpreted it. I am not trying to be testy, just trying to understand how things may have changed. The last time we sailed on NCL (March 2022) in a Club Balcony cabin we had coffee and croissants gratis, but I recall there was some sort of a charge for what most would consider a breakfast. So bottom line is nobody knows yet? This would be so much less confusing if someone with a logical mind wrote what's at the link. Or, did NCL do that on purpose? That would seem odd but not unknown in the cruise line....or any other industry.....😜 Doug
  4. There was an additional charge for just coffee and croissants? Yipes, that's different from every cruise I've sailed on any cruise line! I hope I am misunderstanding the LINK. That link talks about "complimentary" but it is unclear to me to what that might refer. Individual items; what is that? We are in a C3 cabin and normally have just coffee and croissants on the balcony. We tip generously because we want those two items delivered at the earlier time available, and have never been disappointed. But If NCL starts charging for that <$4.95 + 20%?>, we might as well downgrade to an OV cabin again!😒 Doug Doug
  5. We have an RCI cruise booked out of NOLA the end of next year. Been awhile since we've sailed on RCI. I take it we can bring a 6 or 12 pack of soft drinks with us when we board? Doug
  6. Thanks very much for that. Good for NCL! Doug
  7. I hope the cruise first certificates can be used with a military discont? I saw nothing at the links above saying they could not. Doug
  8. When does the $250 one "sale" expire? I thought I say 19 June 2023?
  9. Thanks. Here's the link for those Cruise First Certificates: https://www.ncl.com/cruisefirst-program Doug
  10. Sounds like you can only get one of the $250 certificates while currently on a cruise? I'd be interested in getting a $250 (for $500 in the next 3 years, but a booking NET 120 days from now) but I'm not on a cruise right now. We have one scheduled March 2024, but who knows if that $250 CN will be offered then. If anyone has more info on that please let me know. Doug
  11. Where do you learn about these sales? At NCL.com? I rarely check their home page, but I guess I better start!😉
  12. Sorry, I meant that the portion of our OBC on the TA's invoice, that specifically is given by our TA, is always refundable. It's not always obvious that the invoice OBC offering is refundable; I have learned to ask. In years past, the TA's OBC was always refundable, but lately he must get some nonrefundable OBC inducement from the cruise line (I assume), and that is included in "his" OBC. When I book a cruise now, I always ask what part, if any, of that OBC is from his and therefor refundable. Sometimes it's zero BTW! Honestly, between interpreting cruise insurance and use of OBC, we're all having to become attorneys and accountants! It's not easy when every cruise line / TA seems to do things just a little differently. Makes more sense now? Doug
  13. Right, we have to ask every time our TAs gives an OBC. It's often hidden what part of that, if any, is NOT refundable. I've been surprised a time or two myself. Doug
  14. I was referring to the OBC given to me by my TA. Those are always refundable. However, it still could not be used by NCL for gratuities.....could be for anything else on the ship, just not the gratuities. So on the last day of the cruise I have to charge the grats to my credit card, and also direct them to refund any remaining TA's OBC to my credit card. So, I think that's nuts!😎 It would be a lot less work just to use that OBC for the gratuities IMO. But your explanation will clarify all this for others. Doug
  15. Thanks to everyone who replied, it's helped me figure this thing out! Doug
  16. Good explanation. It can be confusing indeed.
  17. Probably from remembering from another cruise line's forum here at CC. I have three cruises booked now on three different cruise lines, and I gotta tell ya, I'm nearly always getting them mixed up!😳 Doug
  18. All this talk of cruise next and cruise first has my poor mind boggled beyond redemption!😳 I could better understand if I ask you for suggestions for OUR particular situation: We usually cruise from NOLA on NCL once each year. I don't think we've ever skipped more than one year. We always have a balcony cabin, usually a "club balcony" or whatever they call them this week. We have a cruise from NOLA scheduled for March 2024. We have never used either of those certificates because I've been totally ignorant of their existence until now. Please offer a recommendation based on my situation. I know I cannot use those certificates for our existing reservation (Mar 2024) for which we've paid our deposit only. (It's not a "new booking" - I booked it a month ago) When and how could we purchase one of those certificates? The First? The Next? It's a near certainty we'll cruise on NCL again in less than 3 years, most likely spring 2025. Thanks for your experienced guidance! Doug
  19. Norwegian cruise line is like that; your OBC cannot be used for gratuities. Even if it's a refundable OBC such as from your TA. Nuts, I know. But as far as I know, on HAL we can use the OBCs to cover the grats, refundable or nonrefundable makes no difference. Doug
  20. I found it somewhere on the 'net, but as usual without a date. There is so much out of date "information" out there.....
