  1. I look at that as an apple/orange comparison. There's a big difference between a medical lab and a cruise ship.

  3. On the Royal in a handicapped cabin, we had the lights under the nightstands. They shined out, not up, and didn't really bother us.
  4. After 6 cruises, many airplane flights, hotel stays, etc., I have remained healthy. I do admit one time I got on a plane with a stuffed head. Not recommended! I swear the pilot took his sweet time going from cruise to landing just to maker my ears hurt more. On a serious note, I find this posting to be quite condescending. I thought of a quote from Planet of the Apes when I read this post. It was the first words spoken to the apes by a human: "Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!"

  6. I disagree. I have always had luck by going straight from customer service to senior management. Management does not like bad news and a dissatisfied customer is bad news. My method is to use the "To" field for what I feel is the best email and the "BCC" field for additional email formats just in case. Example: To: jsmith@a.com, jdoe@a.com Bcc; j.smith@a.com, john.smith@a.com, john.doe@a.com, j.doe@a.com By doing this, I can eliminate bad email addresses because the bad ones will bounce back.
  7. I go to the top if customer non-service doesn't resolve my issue. The email addresses for Princes are Flastname@princesscruises.com. (F: first initial).   9. I see the shares going up, at least for the next year or so, due to the big demand for cruising. My stock is in my traditional IRA. I like to see my securities producing dividends. I have two securities that do not have dividends - CCL and AMZ. Unlike AMZ, I feel CCL will start producing dividends within a year or two.
  10. CCL stock is doing good. I sold it when the shares went down around the pandemic start time. I bought it again in November 2022 because I was going on a cruise in April 2023. The price was $9.65. I'm at 800 shares with an average price of $9.33. The gain is 27%; the gain is higher when you consider the $50 OBC I received for my cruise last April and $250 to be received in January.
  11. The opinion express below does not reflect the view of Cruise Critic, my wife, the government, or possibly anybody else in the universe but it's mine and I'm sticking to it. I think people bringing wipes with them everywhere they go indicates they are somewhat paranoid. Yes, there may be germs or viruses on surfaces but in 99.9% of cases the germ or virus will not make you sick. Look - life is for living. How can you live if you think everything you touch is going to kill you with the alleged germs or viruses on it
  12. My first choice has been sodas placed into the bad, bad container called plastic. My drink of choice, AKA Drink of the Gods, AKA Diet Dr Pepper, tastes better in plastic.
  13. I ask for them to send me emails. I rarely too. I have also told Princess I want promotional EMAIL, not promotional CALLS. Evidently, the word email is synonymous with call and I get the call, not the email.

After "congratulating" me reaching Platinum, he should have gone directly into his sales promotion. I did ask him to get to the point but he kept with the script he was obviously reading. He kept calling me Mr. David every third sentence (Yes, my name is David but it is NOT MR. David) Is Princess really trying to kill off its regular customers? No free Wi-Fi for Platinum/Elite, telephone calls that take hours (thank goodness for chat), no mints, no evening turn-downs, and now promotion calls outsourced to overseas locations? </end rant>
  16. I agree with you. I am a technology fan. That said, the way technology is being used by companies like Princess is not good. Things I didn't like about the app Does not update events. One activity was cancelled. The app never updated this Why not give a real description to each activity listed? "Bookmark" an activity? Why not "attending"? For the technologically challenged, the app is not very intuitive The app may be useable on a tablet but I didn't have any luck on my Kindle Fire 10 Have a search feature It would have been nice if Royal Princess had made a PDF of the Patter (NOT the crap called Princess Events List). In the four pages (like "back in the day") would be a list of events, a bio of the officer of the day, and, on the last day, a summary of the cruise. It's not all doom-and-gloom. I did like that when the Journey was opened, it showed current (or near current) activities. For example, at 3, it would show activities starting at 3 and later.
  17. Yes, at least for canned sodas. I couldn't tell the between "on the rocks" or "little rocks". That is one thing I did like - canned sodas were part of the classic soda package. I bought it before the price went up so my wife and I got a pretty good deal.
  18. I was on this cruise. The Cruise Director was the worse out of my 6 cruises. He always introduced himself as Arrrrrrrmando. He would be a perfect used car salesman or lounge lizard. Embarkation for us (both Platinum) was great. We got to the port 1.5 earlier than our assigned time. We just walked on. Our cabin wasn't ready but we were able to drop off our carryon baggage. One of our checked bags was already there; the other took a couple of hours for us to get. I did see a sign for Afternoon Tea. It said it was $10. I don't know if it was a sign left over from another cruise. The MDR were good. We had one dinner and 2 breakfasts in them.
  19. If you are going to have an app that shows you what is going on then make sure it is accurate and UPDATED! On the Royal this past week, I saw a few errors on the app Times were inaccurate (e.g. Lightyear was the movie on MUTS. I'm pretty sure it is longer than 45 minutes but it was listed as 45 minutes A bean bag toss was scheduled for 10:30. Watercolor painting was also advertised (twice) for the same day from 9 to 4. Crew chat was useless - was disconnected after the guy type something along the lines of "we're here to help you" A sale at one of the stores was cancelled. Do you think someone could have updated the app? The app is not quite ready for prime time!

One to control the two lights by the door and bathroom and the other one for the light near the TV. The switch for the two table lamps were very hard to turn on and off. Comments The room was overall pretty good. The bathroom had a great shower. The room can accommodate up to 4 people. I was afraid the 3rd and 4th beds would be in the way. The drop from the ceiling so there was not issue with bumping into them. Passengers, especially children, could be heard when speaking loud. There was noise from the adjacent cabins.   22. I frankly believe there are so many people who want to cruise now that they will accept whatever the cruise lines charge them. I'm one that won't do that. Had Princess not make it so that that both people in a cabin have to have the premier or plus package, I would probably bought one of them. I don't drink much; my wife doesn't drink at all. If I didn't need to have a Wi-Fi connection, I wouldn't have bought that either. I bought it before the price increase. I am at Platinum; I think $25 for 5 days is $25 too much.

  24. My boarding time showed finally showed up. The group is 12:30 to 1 (group c). That's way too late! I'll still be showing up about 10:30 or 11. Sorry but I don't like being assigned a group for boarding when they never opportunity to request a time. By the time I found out how to get a boarding group, it was too late for the earlier times. It sure would be nice if Princess revised their IT group so they could actually make an app that is half way user friendly.
  25. We've always gotten to the dock prior to the boarding time but a wide margin. We have always gotten on earlier than the boarding time.
