  1. Hawaii doesn't have a sales tax. They have something even more hideous - a general excise tax (GET). An excise tax is charged on businesses. The GET is 4% plus any county surcharge. The business can charge customers 4.166% ti recoup the GET. The above is just a long way of saying that Princess is probably being charged the GET and is pasiung it on. 2. Thanks. I don't see how that light could affect someone sleeping. I remember on our previous cruises I had to walk slow because it was so dark. I'm glad they have put night lights in for us old un's.
  3. Is this light located in the hallway below marked 1 or 2? I had thought it was located in the short hallway to the bathroom but I'm beginning to think it is in the hallway from the cabin door. Can someone post a picture of the light?
  4. I use an earlier version of this extension cord. Mine had 3 outlets and 2 USB ports. A newer version has 4 outlets and 3 USB ports which should be more than enough for most peopk\le,
  5. Nope - not needed on most cruises now.
  6. You can't account for every single thing that may happen.
  7. It's a personal preference. I don't care for the dispensers because they either dispense too much or not enough at a time.
  8. Don't have the steward or kitchen cut up your food! That's something your husband or someone else you are travelling should do. While the steward is taking extra time with you, your fellow passengers have longer wait times for their service.
  9. I agree with you. Everybody thinks they should be provided with everything because they have "special needs".

    MOS

I thought thi8s was going to be a topic on the Army. MOS = Military Occupation Specialty.
  11. The names changes are probably thought up by the same idiots who decided to call it crew appreciation.
  12. Deck numbers are BOOOOOOOORING.
  13. It's because many companies cannot see beyond next Tuesday. They want to recoup all loses right this second, darn the customer.
  14. <start sarcasm>Yea, we shouldn't allow the mobile impaired to enjoy a cruise for the one in a gazillion chance that the ship needs emergency evacuation. After all, this world would be better with only non-handicapped people traveling. </end sarcasm> You are wrong about them doing evacuation drills with only non-handicapped passengers. By the way, it's not only people using assistive devices that can't be rushed. There are people that have a hard time walking but can do it with assistive devices. Here's the answer I got when I posed the question about evacuation of handicapped passengers on a cruise ship to openAI. (emphasis are mine) Cruise ships are required to have procedures in place for emergency evacuations, including for passengers with mobility impairments. These procedures may vary slightly depending on the specific cruise line and ship, but generally, they will include the following: Emergency personnel will be alerted: If an emergency occurs, crew members will be notified and emergency personnel will be dispatched to assist with the evacuation. Evacuation plan for mobility-impaired passengers: The cruise ship will have a specific evacuation plan in place for passengers with mobility impairments, which may include designated crew members to assist with evacuation, the use of special evacuation equipment such as ramps or lifts, or priority access to lifeboats. Communication with passengers: Passengers with mobility impairments will be notified of the emergency and given instructions on what to do. In some cases, crew members may go directly to the passenger's cabin to provide assistance. Priority in evacuation: Passengers with mobility impairments will be given priority in the evacuation process, meaning they will be among the first to be evacuated from the ship. It's important to note that cruise ship companies are required by law to have emergency procedures in place to ensure the safety of all passengers, including those with disabilities or mobility impairments. Before embarking on a cruise, passengers with mobility impairments should inform the cruise line of their needs so that appropriate accommodations can be made in case of an emergency.
  15. It's more than just sodas. You can get mocktails. If I remember correctly, these were about $6 or $7 a few years ago. You can also get smoothies.
  16. Inquiring minds want to know what VSP means? Vision Service Plan? Very Severe Pain? Very Stupid People? Valley State Prison? Virginia Serves Pensioners? Vera's Sainted Parents?
  17. The prices for all of the drink packages are absurd. Why don't they give the total price instead of the package price plus a surcharge? Why can't they make non-alcoholic drinks gratis? Or may free with meals?
  18. Not to sound rude but does it really matter if the benefit is in your name or hers. You both can use it.
  19. Use Google Maps. It give great real-time traffic directions.
  20. Just a crummy, plain USB drive was received by my wife on her last cruise. Make sure you get your pictures. My wife was told that her printed pictures would be delivered to her cabin but she never received them. Princess customer non-service hasn't been any help. I have been emailing them since December to see about getting the pictures or a refund. The photo people do not have a phone number that I can call. Someone suggested seeing if they will print out the pictures on the flash drive for us on our upcoming pictures. (Yea, I know I could print them out but I paid for printed pictures and expect to get printed pictures!)
  21. Me? If I didn't want to keep it, I'd open it up and see what's inside. I love to see the innards of electronics.
  22. What number are they talking about? Is Ombud (the original poster) talking about using the forum on a mobile device? If anyone is going to ask a question about a specific type of device then say so; "I see a number like this when I use my phone to access Cruise Critic. What does it mean?"
  23. Read posting 14 from me. It is the number of the post in topic. This posting will show the number 38.
  24. You do know calories do not add to one's body weight while on a cruise so you should go the MDR for lunch and Alfredo's for your desert of pie!
  25. This is the third posting. I forgot to mention the number shows as #1 until the page is refreshed or you reenter the topic.
