  1. I feel the same about the quality of the food. I was on the Jewel and the Wonder recently. Food in the MDR left a lot to be desired in my opinion. We joined a table of 6 couples last month on the Jewel. Every night someone was sending something back- meat was too tough, food was cold, food just wasn't good. I guess the best way to let them know is to tell the head waiters and the chefs and to put remarks on the surveys.
  2. i just commented on another blog about dolphin quest. Check it out. I didn't get in the water with them but I was very impressed with my observations of the trainer/caretakers of the dolphins and their interactions. Its a wonderful time. just know the schedule for the day. it was amazing!!!!!!
  3. i sat and watched the dolphins with their trainers/caretakers for about an hour and loved it. they take excellent care of the dolphins!!!! The trainers will talk to you and answer any questions. I was very impressed! one was getting its teeth brushed. It was like a big dog just laying on the trainers lap then rolling over. Seemed perfectly happy. They don't make the dolphins do things they don't want to. Really its an amazing place and if you want to get in the water with the dolphins if thats your thing then I would recommend that place as they truly care for them!!!
  4. I’ve been to coco cay several times. Once there were tons of jelly fish. I had long sleeves and swim pants on. But they still get all over you. I tried to snorkel but just couldn’t. Through my mask I could just imagine them in my hair etc. it just wasn’t fun. I don’t remember the time of year. Probably as one person said the warmer months.
  5. we were on the joy last december from port canaveral to LA. Both embarkation and disembark were NIGHTMARES! Waited an hour in the handicap/haven line to get in the building. Then leaving we waited at least an hour to see immigration. Wonderful time on the ship though.
  6. When I was on the Jewel we were also disappointed with the dining in the Windjammer for dinner. The only thing that I really cared for at lunch was the pasta station. It was delicious!!!! I usually go for the curry at lunch but even that left a lot to be desired. But that was just at lunch in the Windjammer. We were very happy in the dining room. Waiters were so attentive and if something wasn't right they fixed it.
  7. If you google vp of guest services you will find the name Katty Byrd. I believe that is who I wrote to once I went through the complaint process first. I don't have the email but I'm sure you can find it.
  8. I was finally able to apply the funds of my gift card to a cruise this past December. It took at least a year to accomplish it. I seemed to get good results by writing to the VP of guest services. Good luck to anyone still having problems. It was really a frustrating experience.
  9. There is a cute boutique store in Curacao called Meow. It over the pedestrian bridge. Also in Bonnaire they sell these delicious wafers with caramel in the center called- Stroopwaffels. I get them from the grocery store there. The ABC islands are my favorite. Just beautiful!
  10. We just got off the Jewel of the seas. We were also on the Jewel in November. Staff was great. Dining service for traditional dining was amazing. But then we had a waiter we had before- just couldn't have been better. The food options I chose were very good. My go to for lunch is the pasta station. Delicious. So that was my recent experience.
  11. i remember years ago going to shipwreck beach and there were a lot of monkeys around.
  12. Thanks for the info. So you didn't buy the day pass ahead of time? Did you snorkel there?
  13. I agree. The staff should have addressed it. Also agree that since they did not I too would have walked out.
  14. yes the cauliflower steak at Ocean Blue was very good. I thought it could have done with a little more sauce or maybe even feta cheese if one does cheese. They made me a delicious Tofu stir fry. I believe it had a teriyaki sauce that was delicious. They will also serve different vegetable curries! So go with ideas and they will make it. Also eggplant parm was good
  15. We were on the joy. I did list I was a vegetarian before boarding. The first night in the main dining room the assistant maitre d came to our table and said if I needed any special meals besides what was on the menu to let him know. If I went to a special restaurant with the people I was traveling with I could order something special 24 hours in advance. He checked with me every night about the menu. So just ask for the assistant maitre d if you need any special meals
  16. Can’t think of any secret tips. We are in our late 60s. Enjoy the quietness of the solarium. They have a lot of activities for families and kids. Get some magnets with hooks on them so you can hang stuff from the walls. They are handy. That’s my only tip
  17. we were on the jewel back to back with the 2nd week being thanksgiving. i didn't notice a lot of coughing. And so far no "Rona" for us
  18. we are thinking of doing the same. Thinking of getting a car from Long beach airport and going to the queen mary and the USS Missouri to start with. Then may look at the Santa Monica Pier and Griffith Obervatory. Our flights don't leave till 11:30 p
  19. Anyones thoughts on the Joys thermal suite and cost? Is it similar to the Escape?
  20. One year we took a cruise to Barcelona in the spring and flew back to the US. Then in the fall we flew to Barcelona and cruised back to the US. We booked the flights together so it was considered round trip
  21. The jewel has the centrum. Lots of dancing there. There is also the safari club area that has music and dancing.
  22. Talked with someone who was on the Jewell. Had inside cabin on deck 4. Won Royal up $200 each. X2 and got a very small port hole deck 2 across from the medical center. They told her at least she had a window. She’s not happy going down 2 decks and by the medical center. Beware
  23. Interesting. I sailed out of port canaveral a couple months ago and the line to embark was very long which made people stand for a long time in the sun. I know this doesn't happen at the main terminal at port canaveral. So I went to the loyalty ambassador on the ship and voiced my concern and also wrote sent an email to guest services when I arrived home. Its really unacceptable and dangerous for people to be standing like that in the heat of florida.
  24. thanks. I wanted to post in the general area as I thought more people would see it and have some feedback. And I hate to burst the bubble but I am not from Montana. There are other reasons I chose that name 🙂 But I agree it is a beautiful state!!
