  1. Ah, right. From what I've been reading here, it isn't as easy now as it was pre-COVID, though there's good reason that things should get back to 'normal' again. When that will be, though...
  2. @kwokpot What year was this? Dec 20 when?
  3. Again... Perhaps we found ourselves on the odd good side of supply chain issues on our last X cruises where X was unable to use their regular sources for meat? We sailed twice out of Tampa in Nov '21, and our local butcher would have been hard pressed to match what we were being served. I'm talking 2+" cuts of beef in different venues that were nicely aged and that you could, with minimal extra effort, cut with a fork. Even did so a couple of times on those cruises to prove the point. Ordered a pork chop one night off the MDR Menu that was easily thick enough to be stuffed (though it wasn't) that was wonderfully moist and again, could be cut with a fork. Next cruise will be out of Barcelona in a couple of weeks, and we'll be drawing comparisons.
  4. @FiremedicMike151 Whatever will you do without the constant yammering on the PA all day long? 🤪 I think you will really enjoy your new experience!
  5. Same experience, though I was plowing through the sashimi vs. sushi. I assume the theory at Sushi on 5 is that you could finish $35 worth, leave, turn right back around and sit down and start ordering again, so they just let you go until you say "uncle".
  6. That was someone else's experience, above. Never had that happen to us. I assume the cards (Attention to Detail) are still read in the crew meetings?
  7. I'd be curious to know how this flies with our current audience: What if Celebrity were to designate one venue where the dress code would actually be enforced? Let's say that on S and E class, the designated restaurant is Murano. This would assure one dining experience that met the expectations of those on that side of the attire aisle. Would this be too onerous for those who prefer the 'free style' approach to the dress code? Or is 'least common denominator' an absolute requirement?
  8. @Jim_Iain Not only did we fill out the form with names, but left an 'attaboy' card outlining why we felt each person's service was deserving of the extra and the amount. Assuming GR didn't ditch the card, each person should have gotten some kudos and been made aware of what amount to expect when the card was read.
  9. If the former is true, then why the latter wish? Seems a bit over the top.
  10. The closest you'll get to mini golf on Constellation are the silly putting contests they put on in the interior of the ship from time to time! The "greens" don't run very true, even after they installed all new carpet in the public spaces. 😀
  11. You can definitely see the shift in priorities over time. One of the more interesting differences, not indicated by just the sizes below, is the access to the balcony, where Millennium class wins hands down (both living and bedroom). That said, we find the interior space on a Millennium class to be very comfortable. Millennium Royal Suite: Cabin: 538 sqft (51 m2) Balcony: 195 sqft (18 m2) Total: 733 sqft Solstice Royal Suite: Cabin: 590 sqft (55 m2) Balcony: 158 sqft (15 m2) Total: 748 sqft Edge Royal Suite: Cabin: 687 sqft (65 m2) Balcony: 72 sqft (7 m2) Total: 759 sqft All of the Edge class Sky Suites have more balcony space than a RS on Edge. Strange. S1 = 163 S2 = 79 S3 = 102
  12. The areas are all port side. One deck 5 near midship elevator. One rear of pool deck. One at mast bar. The first is the only one that could present any issues. Book starboard if concerned about any of them.
  13. Some will, some won't. There will still be S1 and separately, Aqua suites. See here the difference before/after the transition. There will still be S1 that haven't converted to Aqua suites, so it all depends upon which S1 you've booked, and how they handle that if you booked a long time ago before the transition was announced. I'll use deck 6 as an example: Before After
  14. No. The Aqua suites are a separate class from Sky suites.
  15. @Jim_Iain @wrk2cruise Yes, I mentioned Aqua suites up there in post #6 as the exception to PG suite access. Thought you had yet another class discovered.
  16. Hadn't run across that in any of my searches for future cruises. Do you recall any of the ships? I haven't been looking at E class.
  17. You should hear me try to say "right ascension servo proportional gain" on a conference call after a few glasses of wine!
  18. Many recent reports are that pax are allowed to quarantine in their own cabins, but don't know if that's universal or not. As for Paxlovid, you'll need to bring your own. Not dispensing from medical as yet.
  19. No, Persian Garden isn't a suite perk except for Aqua suites.
  20. Yes, up on the "Lawn Club" area cabanas are available to rent.
  21. Have spent some time reviewing Silversea, and while it may be competitive at the Sky Suite level, coming up with the equivalent of a Royal Suite raises the ante to a Silver Suite on Silversea, which, even subtracting the included economy air fare, comes to a good bit more than a RS on Celebrity.
  22. Ignoring the clearly laid out attire preferences of any establishment used to considered bad form... Especially so if the establishment is working to differentiate its product through those preferences. Now, rather than disrespectful, it's considered by some to be a right. For some, the social contract is entirely different now. Rather than an agreement between host and guest, it's come down to "Stuff your business model. I'm the one paying the bill". It then falls to the host to decide whether to forego the differentiation and the business that brings in favor of a wider but less selective market by just going with the flow, or to hold the line and cater to a clientele that appreciates the differentiation. There should be room for both given the variety of dining options on a cruise ship, but most Celebrity ships don't hold the line in even a single venue such as Murano.
  23. Indeed it is, but in practice it will always be subject to cultural norms in any given setting. High tea at the Brown in jeans and a polo? Even here in Colorado that attire would seem entirely out of place... as would that lime green tux (no doubt a refugee from a late 60's wedding party!) That's not to say they wouldn't serve a person in jeans and a polo, but their patrons tend to show a bit of respect for the establishment and fellow guests, even without being asked in some set of guidelines.
  24. Ain't the easiest medium for communication, to be sure! I definitely do a better job when I'm not using a tiny phone keyboard and too often wind up in 'terse mode' as a result. Give me a real keyboard any day.
