  1. I believe they would be just as unhappy with Cunard and they would have to dress for dinner.
  2. Actually there is little class structure on the QM2. It is not “in your face” as it is on Celebrity. You will not board on red carpet or be escorted to special seats in the Theater. There is one lounge for Grill passengers with a concierge, tea and pastries. It’s in the middle of the ship on a passenger deck, no windows and nothing fancy. There is also a bar for Grill passengers with a pianist. It’s not restricted as we have had many friends join us for cocktails. The Grill Restaurants are the only really restricted areas. No outside area to speak of on the QM2. We really enjoy the themed crossings and last December we were on a Literature cruise with 27 best selling authors (UK) and the Editor of the New York Times book review and the London Times book review. The crossings typically have some theme or special artists. We missed James Taylor and Carly Simons but you can see some of their performances on YouTube. It is something you need to do at least once, consider it.
  3. You should really add Cunard, Queens Grill, to your list. You would really enjoy it and with everything that is included in the Grills you won’t even miss your Zenith perks. The QM2 is the one to experience, totally different feel from premium cruise ships. I know the two of you wouldn’t mind wearing a jacket for evenings or a tie for gala evenings.
  4. The hike in Nuuk took the entire day! It was also cold and rainy. The shorter hike up the mountain, rocky and slippery was in Kitaa.
  5. We were on the Venture last year for 14 days to Greenland. The hiking activities were definitely not soft. Four hour hike at one village, up a very Rocky Mountain. In Nuuk they offered a seven hour hike and quite a few took the hikes. We are talking about non groomed trails. Guess you didn’t go to Greenland.
  6. Segments of World Cruises are always inexpensive.
  7. Glad there is no problem getting vaccinated in Maryland. Is your wife in poor health? We are in our 70’s and could get the vaccine.
  8. It actually takes less time to throw a load of wash in the self service laundry than to count up garments and fill out the laundry slip. Takes a total of 15 minutes or less to load a washer, put wash in the dryer and remove it to our cabin. We do send the items that need pressing to the ships laundry.
  9. We really enjoyed Earth and Ocean in the Colonnade. Sorry you thought it was a dismal failure. When on the Venture we had dinner every night in the Colonnade that they offered Earth and Ocean ad will continue to do so on future Venture/Pursuit cruises.
  10. Enjoy Regent, however, many of your fellow CCers can’t afford them.
  11. I thought this thread stated that there were no appetizers offered in the MDR, only salads and soups.
  12. Didn’t know they eliminated shrimp cocktails or escargot ? No appetizers now??
  13. Hard to believe any qualified butler would be without employment. Silver Seas and Cunard are hiring. There is a general shortage of employees for all cruise lines. Doubt that Celebrity would let good employees go when so many other cruise lines are short of employees and eagerly hiring.
  14. We also did excursions into the rainforest at several ports. There were insects, some amazingly large.
  15. In the PH, meals from the Specialty Restaurants were included if you ate in that restaurant. We were never promised Specialty Restaurants meals would be served in our suite. Many of the restaurants have tableside offerings not conducive to room service. Hopefully Celebrity will train the Butlers and Retreat Hosts so individual butlers won’t be pressed to break the rules.
  16. We took the anti malaria meds when we took a two week Amazon cruise. We also had the yellow fever vaccine before we left for Rio. Wonder if the recent resurgence of Malaria in Florida is because of South American travels.
  17. Perhaps on some cruises they are told not to switch on the heaters, even if asked by passengers.
  18. Paxlovid has many dangerous interactions with drugs usually taken by seniors. I hope they don’t give this out as if it was a harmless antidote to COVID.
  19. I don’t see anything new, we had all of this on the Venture last year.
  20. The best dinner we ever had on Celebrity was in Tuscan Grill as we sailed from NYC. The views were spectacular and the food wasn’t bad.
  21. Sound will carry on interconnecting suites. If your neighbors are loud, or play the TV loud, you will hear. Bring earplugs just in case you are disturbed.
  22. Was that the only cost? Did they test you or give you the kit to take back to your suite? If you have insurance it will cover the $38 cost.
  23. No, Earth and Ocean, as we loved the menu, but they ran out of Brie before the end of the cruise.
  24. The Ovation had the heaters in February. Were they broken when SLSD was onboard?
