  1. Go with your doctor’s recommendation. If you are still able to walk he/she may recommend that you stay upright as much as possible.
  2. Porters are wonderful and worth their tip. They will even get your bags for you when you point them out, get you quickly through any lines and grab you a taxi.
  3. Correct me if I am wrong but your level of suite on Seabourn does not give you a better experience. Every passenger is supposed to be treated the same. We have been in higher level suites on Seabourn and did not see the value. There was no difference in the service we received. The extra bathroom was the best aspect and the extra room was not needed. We had one stewardess, the same room service menu, the same dining room experience so if you expect more from your Wintergarten Suite you will be always disappointed. We have had three cruises on Seabourn since the restart and have had excellent service. Did not use room service so I can’t comment on this.
  4. Sorry the trip was such a disappointment. We missed ports also but did enjoy the talks by the Expedition Leaders and we didn’t get to hear all 27 of them.
  5. Weather in the South Atlantic is also unpredictable. The stop in the Falklands is the most tenuous. The year we did it, we were the only ship able to anchor and tender there.
  6. At least you didn’t run into the Canadian hurricane which you would have had to endure if your cruise had left earlier. Weather right now is unpredictable so we will never know what we will encounter or what ports will be visited especially on an expedition trip. It’s very disappointing but it can’t be helped.
  7. It’s a shame you missed so many ports but you can’t go against the Captain for safety as he has the final word. We missed two stops on the 9/4 cruise because of ice conditions. Guess you only had two possible submarine excursions. We skipped them because there isn’t much to see in the Arctic. I hope you have been able to see wildlife from the ship even if you couldn’t get in the Zodiacs.
  8. Catlover54, the Nespresso machines are available on the Quest, just not in the basic category staterooms V1-V5. We also had the machines in our Suite on the Sojourn and the Ovation. If you book the Penthouse level or above you will have the coffee machine and a hot water kettle. Lots of us don’t need them so your stewardess may be able to find an extra.
  9. The sauna is available for any passenger, not the steam rooms.
  10. Catlover54, the Nespresso machines can be found in all but the basic V1-V5 cabins/suites. We have never bothered with the machines and prefer the coffee in the Seabourn Square? We have many friends on the Venture right now and it is supposed to end in St. John. What happened to your cruise on the Venture? We had some semi rough seas on the Venture so I expect she can handle them. The current cruise is supposed to end in St. John.
  11. We also suffered thru the disembark from the Venture. The flight would not have been as bad if they had kept with the assigned seats. Once we walked to the plane it was a “free for all”. The row we were left with did not recline although the seats in front did, onto my lap. Passenger in front was very inconsiderate. We did have to claim our bags at Reykjavik but at least we were able to use the free luggage carriers to get them to our bus. We were lodged at the Apotik and we also had to move our bags, in the rain, two blocks to our hotel. This was because of traffic restrictions on Sunday. The next day we opted for a private transfer to the airport and had no further problems.
  12. If you do ask for two each will there be enough for every passenger to at least get one. I hope other passengers won’t have to do without if we ask for two each.
  13. Worked out on Sunday in the Zodiacs as it was not a rainy day. Carry ons were put at the front of the Zodiac and did not get wet. The buses we took to the airport were different. There was no overhead storage for bags so if your bus was full your carry ons were stored underneath the bus where they typically put wheelchairs. We traveled on a bumpy, unsaved road to the small airport. A cafeteria and a small gift store were open. We all had seat numbers for the plane, however they were completely ignored and every boarded at one time resulting in a fiasco.
  14. We took the flight from Greenland to Iceland. Before we left the ship we were given seat numbers was a 737 MAX. Disorganized boarding as we weren’t called by row. Everyone crowded into a line and when we finally got to the stairs we were told there was no assigned seating so we had to take whatever was left. All overhead compartments were filled by earlier arrivals who put nothing under their seats. We were stuck in non reclining seats with no window. The passengers in front happily reclined into our laps and then complained that our knees were in the way. Glad it was only a 2 hour flight but we were crippled after as we both have knee issues. Seabourn should have stayed with the assigned seating.
  15. That sounds wonderful and gives me more hope for a good experience. We have bout 170 leaving and about the same boarding so I guess the plane could take the passenger load. Do you remember what the airport terminal was like? Can all the passengers fit in the building?
  16. Now that you have eaten in Luminae you know your sun dress would have been totally appropriate for lunch and for dinner.
  17. We will transfer from the ship to pier in the zodiacs so I am hoping for good weather. Transfer from the pier to the airport will be in village school buses. Expect arriving passengers will have the same shuttle and zodiac transfer.
  18. Very happy for the heated closet after yesterday’s rides in the Zodiacs! Great weather today with a short, sunny ride into another “hilly” but essential Greenland village. We heard that we will be alongside at one port tomorrow and they will off load garbage and take on some supplies. At the termination point of this cruise we will be shuttled to shore in Zodiacs so let’s hope for good weather. They will have local school buses take us to the airport.
  19. We re on several flights back to Iceland, we leave the ship at 9am. Our bags weight more than 50 lbs with our new Parkas Md they have taken that into account. Usual flights out of this airport are on King Air planes. I expect they will charter an Iceland Air. The village with the airport has only 500 people. This airstrip was built by the U.S. in 1941. Best airport in Greenland as it is inland and has not been impacted as much by weather.
  20. I have not received the same service I received before March 2020 on an ship, in any restaurant, or in any retail establishment. The prices are much higher but our Seabourn cruises remain a good value as we are still working through FCC. The crew on all three Seabourn Voyages were as pleasant and helpful as always. Sorry for the folks receiving substandard service. Move to another line and hope you will be happier.
  21. Internet is much more reliable today, was bad at Nuut. Enjoyed(?) a very cold and wet ride on the zodiacs to get to the port Md a short shuttle ride into town. Our only encounter with bad weather on this trip. Wonderful museum and many shops with Greenland merchandise.
  22. We are on the charter the other direction. Bet our bags may fly separately as we had two checked bags each.
  23. Iveleaguegent should read the comments on the Regent and Silverseas boards. There are complaints of staffing and service issues on many ships. We are on the Venture and we have very few complaints. The only service issues have been when everyone showed up to dinner at one time and it took twenty minutes to get our appetizers. We had our wine so we were content.
  24. We have been watching passengers doing the polar plunge. Good for them but we did not partake. I know on the last cruise there were some complaints about the hikes being designed for the elderly but I haven’t heard that on this cruise. It’s too bad they missed the long hike today because of the ice in the passage. Let’s see where the captain can take us tomorrow.
