  1. There was a recent thread on CC about a young fellow who turned Pinnacle based on his on sailing. I don't recall his age, but I'm sure someone else will recall.
  2. Think of the money Allure will make. Short trip, 2 calls a week at Coco Cay. Cannot imagine much market for a B2B , PC, Nassau, Coco Cay, and for the 4 day, a sea day.
  3. which means 2 calls a week at Coco Cay. $$$$
  4. But they add a lot of capacity and command big bucks when they start sailing. And they will have to go back and address the market that Radiance and Vision classes serve.
  5. My phone flags spam calls. Out of area calls do not get answered. If it is legit, they will leave a message. I still have a Ct area code, I get a lot of calls showing that area code, and I have a lot of those blocked.
  6. I just got an email saying I bought something and was charged on my Paypal account. I tried to call to cancel, and got suspicious and hung up when I was told to goto a website that presented a .exe file they wanted me to execute. Called Paypal and when I described the email, they knew the phone number as a fraud, and there was no charge on my card.
  7. Odyssey is a derivative of the Quantum class with some differences. Anthem is the only one sailing in the Atlantic, and the big differences, as I understand since I have never been on Anthem, are changes for warm weather cruising. including more pool spaces outdoor. I believe the MDR was originally designed for the dynamic dining concept , which never really worked out. That has been discarded to have a similar layout to other ships. I understand other ships like the Anthem. are Ovation and the original Quantum are sailing Alaska now.
  8. MDR and Windjammer are 2 separate places. Windjammer is the buffet , no menu, just grab a plate and choose what you want to eat. MDR is main dining room where you are served by a waiter from a menu,
  9. We're booked on Adventure for 4 weeks starting on October 7th. That will include the 7th 14th 21st and 28th.
  10. I posted my reply based on my experience while I lived in Ct , and had more than a dozen cruises out of Bayonne on Explorer in the winter time, some doing the 7 day cruise like Oasis is now doing. Also had 2 Trans Atlantic cruises that ended in Manhattan. BTW, when Explorer left for Fl, so did I.
  11. It might be better to look at the ports. Oasis class does the 7 day trips to PC, Coco Cay, and Nassau. More Caribbean ports from PC. Other cruises from NJ do Bermuda. Just look for something you want to do.
  12. When I moved to Ct from Pa in 1965, my route took me over the GW bridge into the city. It was easy to get into the city, but not out of the city. I decided the reason so many lived there was the gave up and stayed, rather than leave. But this farm boy from Pa just kept going east till I escaped. Afterward, I pulled out my trusty ESSO road maps, and found that the Tappan Zee bridge was my answer. And that's what I did for the next 11 years till I got transferred to FL. Years later, when I got moved back to Ct., and we started to cruise from Bayonne, DW found that Royal had a bus service from around the North east that served yo cruise port. My first ride on that bus, I sat close to the driver, and as he was inching across the GW bridge into NJ, I decided I had made the right decision , probably close to 40 years before. By the time I got transferred back to Ct in 1999, more interstates were completed and we could get most of the way home in Interstate highways, now over the Newburgh bridge. By the way , my final trip across the Tappan Zee, by 1976 , NY was only charging for east bound crossings, not west bound, so I gave the middle finger salute to NY, cause I wasn't coming back.
  13. Was that on the Vision class? I wonder if they have as many of the two tops as the newer ships.
  14. We are on a 7 day western on Adventure, who recently started sailings of FLL, This Captain seems to like the ship port calls to have ship time the same as port time, Night 1, clocks drop 1 hour, since no DST in the ports, second night another to get to CST, for Roatan and Belize. tonight , add one hour for EST in Cozumel, then a sea day to get back to EDT, for or final call at Coco Cay, for seventh day,
  15. The problem I have run into not checking in for the second cruise is the account info not carrying over for the second cruise. I would get notified I was on a cash account and I need to go to GS with cash or a CC.
  16. I talked to C&A about getting my Pinnacle pins and stuff. He said he would submit a request for them and they should arrive in 30 to 60 days. I told him that is what the LA said back in November. I guess we know how that works.
  17. I cannot imagine a video of the cars racing on a parking lot of a football stadium in Miami will qualify as a stunning location.
  18. When we started cruising on a regular basis 20 years ago, we did a cruise on Celebrity to the Panama Canal, and other ports in the area. On the way back, we decided to do a TA We liked it so much , we did a yearly west bound crossing. DW found some of her fellow nurses took a winter cruise, on RCCL. As a result, she has more cruise points than I do. We turned Pin based on her points. And we just booked her free cruise in October with that voucher. Meanwhile, I am also getting close to 700 myself, and we will get another free cruise when I hit 700. I didn't expect that. We will get on a 7day casino comp on Adventure this Saturday.
