  1. I guess it depends on the sailing...best not to try and figure it out....and enjoy my cruise....
  2. Reviving an old thread, less than 10 days out, 6 YC deluxe available and the min bid to get from my YC Inside to a deluxe is $300 less than buying it right out. I read on my FB forums, min bid for a YCI from Aurea experience was $150pp. My wife says that the bidding system is trying to get close to the normal price of the room as possible. My last experience with bidding was with NCL and you could bid whatever you wanted (i.e. no min bid) and I was hoping for this with MSC but I guess not. Don't get me wrong, I am content with YCI but was hoping to bid -- now I know how MSC works (or I think I do).
  3. In the past, I've just walked up to the restaurant to pick my time for my diamond perk. Another time, the butler arranged a time for my party. Side question, which night would be best to skip dinner in the YC?
  4. Was the bidding amount the same? Or did it get lower?
  5. Since you asked.... https://www.denverpost.com/2006/03/23/cigarette-caused-fatal-ship-fire-says-authorities/ My funny story about weed was I thought I ran over skunk because when I pulled in my garage, it smelled like one. But then it was there every day but not when I parked my car at work...I realized it was my nieghbour's kid, since our garage are attached.
  6. Also, Haven "free at Sea" only applies to the 1st two passengers, so if you travel wihth a family of four, 3rd and 4th pay. This includes the drink package... I prefer the YC to Haven, especially when the price point of Haven...
  7. 19 days for us as well --- I guess we are on the same cruise. Seaside was our first experience with MSC and YC in 2019 (so nice we had to do it twice). Thanks @amygutman for bringing back memories. A couple of quick questions... When is the seafood buffet on the pool deck? I also remembered a night time buffet too... Is the YC sold out?
  8. Connecting rooms are not that bad. I had one with our friends (we still kept the door shut) and parents (open) and had no issues. It's only a door when used, a wall when closed...
  9. If everyone listens to the complainers -- then the cruise lines would be sailing empty. I love reading reviews -- the good and the bad. I take away good points from the good ones and face palm the bad ones. Your on vacation -- enjoy, I'd rather be there than at work any day!
  10. My flight on disembarkation is not until 8pm, so I thought I would rent a car from port canaveral and then see some sights (outlet shopping) before heading to the airport (better than sitting at the airport for 10 hours). I reserved my car from one of thos big box stores and Alamo was the best rate. I have been checking back to see if the rates have changed and it looks like Alamo is off their list of available car rentals (Avis and Budget remains). Does that mean there are no more cars for Alamo to rent (then the concern is having a car when I get there) or Alamo is entirely not renting cars from port canaveral that day. I guess my last option is just to uber from PC to MCO and sit around for 10 hours.
  11. Thanks for your review -- love reading them -- makes me more excited about my upcoming cruise. Re: the weed smokers on OC, I am so surprised that people are willing to risk being caught for the sake of a quick high... I'm glad you had a good cruise....a rarity on these forums, especially not being in the YC (just joking)
  12. Back to the thread's original questions...I would like the gelato at the venchi bar to be included in the YC price...my waist size /weight after the cruise may not agree with me ....
  13. Air tag them... But seriously, if you were in the NCL Haven (unless it was Haven aft and Haven enclave), different decks should have not been too much of an issue -- they could also get the butler to escort them. Same with YC, it's 2-3 decks, front of the ship -- now regular rooms, different decks, different parts of the ship, sure...
  14. what happens when he goes to pay the final amount and they put it under the wrong booking....
  15. because it is MSC and anything can happen.... I've heard, someone to avoid the nonrefundable discount downgraded their YC room to a regular room and then cancelled after that. I can't seem to find the posting, so not sure if it work but in theory, it sounds right....
  16. Thanks for all the info -- my flight isn't until 8pm, so taking a shuttle just to sit at the airport would suck, so I thought renting a car and driving around would be a better way to kill time. I've rented with Alamo -- should I just uber to the car rental place to beat out the people waiting for the shuttle?
  17. So I know the point is that your are upset about the room changes but the YC enclave is small, so even if they were moved to another deck, it's not the end of the world. Enjoy the cruise...
  18. It was on the payment page, when (if) you have those NCL certificates (I forget what they are called) you can select them to uses as your payment/deposit.
  19. I've received the 10% off online -- it is an option during check out. However, if you have FCC, you can only use one and then the 10% promo. This does not happen all the time, it randomly occurs for me at least.
  20. I book via my credit card TA and they offer 8X the points for vacation bookings, so that's the only bonus I get (plus they get the to deal with MSC and not me). I find there are not many TAs that like to deal with MSC.
  21. True... But judging an entire cruise company by one incident seems to be over generalizing things....op might miss out on a potentially good vacation. I'm not a msc fan and things have happened but unless the entire cruise was a bust, I disappointed on how cruisers will be "one and done".
  22. No use to convince OP to give MSC another chance...she will or she won't... Her loss is MSC's gain....
  23. One and Done.... If I had done that, I would have stopped cruising after my first NCL Epic cruise but we gave NCL another chance and enjoyed NCL (plus I would have missed the chance of experiencing the Haven -- unfortunately, that also means my wife only wants to cruise Haven/YC, so that back fired a little). Any ways, sorry to hear about the issues pre-boarding (cookies), I hope MSC will learn from that. I wonder if that jaded your views for the rest of the cruise? In terms of ship amenities, I like RCCL, then NCL and then MSC. You should give MSC another chance...
  24. Thanks for all your responses -- I ask because sometimes RCCL has sales...
