jasardeax replied to sheetskn's topic in Viking Ocean
So far, the most condescending post of 2023. There is no “lesson to be learned” The OP did nothing wrong. They are the victim(s)- 51 replies

Naples without The Amalfi Coast and Venice without Venice
jasardeax replied to jc522's topic in Viking Ocean
from The NY Times…… “Chioggia, Italy Built on a cluster of islands in the Venetian lagoon, with centuries-old buildings rising from the canals in all their decadent glory, Chioggia is called “piccola Venezia,” or little Venice. Locals beg to disagree: If anything, they say, it’s nearby Venice that should be described as Chioggia’s larger doppelgänger, and it’s true, Chioggia is older. Venice is so worried about being overwhelmed once again after the pandemic that it is planning to resort to surveillance cameras and cellphone data to control the crowds; visiting other culturally rich places like Chioggia can help relieve the pressure. Today, Chioggia is popular with Italian and German visitors, drawn both by the architectural beauties in the historic center and the family-friendly beaches of its mainland suburb, Sottomarina. The city, which has preserved a rough maritime vibe, can serve as an ideal base for bicycle tours. It is also known for its radicchio. During a time of increased awareness of overtourism, this miniature Venice is a delightful alternative for travelers looking for a lesser-known destination. — Anna Momigliano” -

If you feel that Viking reps have more expertise than a TA, then why not do your original booking directly with Viking and then transfer to a TA who will offer some perk, like OBC.
-
Yes, but it is still polite to fake covering your mouth when having a fake cough.
-
Why would you request a crew member to disregard crew protocol?
-
Yes, we noticed lots of uncovered coughing on our Alaska and the Inside Passage cruise in May. No excuse for terrible manners. Almost as bad as being “mask shamed” on two different occasions.
-
Hoping you are well on your way and make your connection without a problem. However, if you’re delayed much longer, you should be entitled to EU261 compensation.

I find this post condescending, arrogant, and grossly inaccurate, as pointed at by other posters. -

What a great attitude your friend has in handling this situation. Happy that she is enjoying the cruise anyway. She would be a joy to travel with, and seems to take one day at a time. She, apparently, has no baggage. -
Pouches were very handy. I think we have 2 more somewhere. Aquavit glasses, had 8, gave away four. Viking blankets. We have given away at least 4 over the years. Nevermore.

The Orion had a planetarium on the upper level of the Explorer Lounge. No bar up there. They could have possibly put one in the planetarium, but I’m sure the cost would have been astronomical.

To paraphrase an old proverb; “SPITE is a drink best served cold” This is so much more fun than writing about testing and COVID
-
Just for SPITE, still alive, but dead to me.
-
Had an ex who had a large case of Spite.
-
Not sure how Vikings decision actually changes this possibility. If you, unfortunately, had COVID symptoms on board, I’m sure you would ask to be tested. If you tested positive you would be quarantined, either onboard, or possibly in a foreign country. If you had COVID, or COVID symptoms, before your return flight, I’m sure you would voluntarily get tested. If positive, you would quarantine, possibly in a foreign country. The elimination of testing is not the end of COVID. I will have faith in my fellow man, that when they are not sure what thing to do, they will do the right thing.
-
I believe that Viking states 72 hour PCR or 24 hour Anti-Gen before first international flight, OR before first Viking activity if traveling independently
-
Thank you for a civil and reasoned response. But, do you think that symptomatic passengers will voluntarily submit to a test, and live with the consequences if positive?
-
Do you think that symptomatic passengers will voluntarily submit to a test, and live with the consequences if positive? Do you think asymptomatic passengers will not infect others?
-
Orwellian times, Orwellian measures?
-
But, will those with symptoms step forward and be tested voluntarily, and live with the consequences, if positive. Or will they do nothing.
