  1. Question about kids and crown and anchor status. After our March cruise we will be only a couple points away from Diamond...but still Emerald. In April, our son turns 18. DH and I have been on more cruises than our kids. If we add up points for cruises he has actually has been on, it's mid 30s. From what I understand, once he turns 18, he maintains his status but his points revert to mid 30s? It's a shame we aren't one cruise ahead. (Emerald doesn't do much)
  2. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully the dates work out for both of us.
  3. We were on a cruise in December. I wore a mask in my travels (airport, airplane, uber in Florida), but then took it off. I always carried one with me on the ship in the evenings for the theatre "just in case", I didn't wear it but wanted on on me in case someone'll sat near me who was obviously coughing, etc. I have the same plan for our upcoming cruise in March. Note as well, I still wear one at home when at the mall or supermarket. (I'm not the only one but certainly less these days) On Liberty for our last cruise, there were a few crew members wearing them but not many. Likewise, we saw maybe 2 families wearing them but most weren't. However OP, wear whatever makes you comfortable for your health. It's definitely more of a risk not wearing one and do what works for you.
  4. Thx. That's new as you used to be able to switch room numbers (same category) once assigned.
  5. We've stayed in a promenade room (similar "issue") and a Boardwalk room once (and have it booked coming up). I don't understand the big deal with having to pull the curtains. At home our backyard backs on to the backyard of the street behind us, so we always change with the curtains closed. It's not such an odd or different thing. We quite enjoy the Boardwalk rooms. You can see what's going on, get fresh air and also see the ocean in the distance. On Oasis class, there is a big jump in cost to go to an ocean view, which of course is great room, but we also have no issue with Boardwalk. We have Central Park booked in future as well. Hopefully OP will be ok with the room category assigned, and if location isn't great, then can more to another one in same category if available. For me, I would avoid forward location (if ocean view), but fine with Boardwalk, Central Park or Ocean View.
  6. Where do they usually hold the class? On Liberty I noticed they had a specific cupcake shop on the Promenade but what about other ships without this spot? Thinking DD may want to do this next year on Wonder.
  7. Wondering...did they get rid of one of the production shows since the pandemic? When I do a search on Oasis shows it lists something called "Come Fly Away With Me". But if I look at the app, it isn't listed. And if so, does that mean there are some nights where the is no show?
  8. We're also on Oasis in March. I'm thinking it may open when entertainment opens?
  9. Haven't been on it yet, but isn't Harmony the one where there is no pool in solarium? Still, I wouldn't think that would be worth $2000.
  10. We booked 2 connecting interior rooms for end of the year for what we normally would pay for 2 connecting balcony rooms (i.e. that was our price range so went with the interior). We booked when release. Now that same booking for the interiors is $3500 more and 2 connecting balcony rooms is $12k (CAD and refundable booking). No way would we pay that. Definitely notice an increase. This is a holiday cruise so I know the prices are up, but still.
  11. Like you, we don't get the internet package and just connect to the app by ship wifi. Worked on Liberty (Dec 19 cruise) for no cost. DH and I just tried it out for fun, but will be very useful on our upcoming cruise when we cruise with our kids. This way, we can keep in touch with them when they go off without us. Before, it would just be "meet us back in the cabin at x o'clock")
  12. Great to hear. Our kids are 13 and 17 so very similar/same in age. Great! Sounds like a ton of fun!
  13. How is the escape room on Oasis class? Anyone know the cost? Also, I know that recently you are able to book some things on the cruise planner before boarding. Anyone know if the escape room can be book beforehand? Or not until you board? Thanks.
  14. Explorer is the one Voyager class ship on which I haven't been so it's always fun to see new things. Excited to follow along. Have a great cruise.
  15. Thanks for confirming. Makes sense and everyone wants and needs their break.
  16. Thanks. Just to clarify...if exams were from Dec 12-23, do you mean an exam could be added on the 23rd for example? Or you mean the following week? For Dec 2023, we would plan to fly around Dec 30. (Following year would be the 23 evening or 24 in that example)
  17. Thanks for the head's up. I assume this doesn't happen often but definitely something to keep in mind. Unless we literally want to book something last minute, which won't work well at xmas/new years time, we'll just have to risk the booking (done around known exam and holidays time) and hope this doesn't happen. It would be similar to getting sick beforehand (but probably can't claim exam time change with insurance). Would be upsetting if he couldn't come around our carefully scheduled holiday but one of those things we'd just have to chance.
  18. I love it! Only on vacation where you drink before 10:30am 😀 (or maybe I shouldn't assume for most) We've been to Paradise Beach a couple times. We quite like it. The pool is nice and big too.
  19. Originally our holidays were scheduled for the same two weeks as we had a cruise booked with our kids (didn't go on that one as it was just a back up cruise due to covid cancellations). Then at some point they changed the Ontario board dates. Doesn't happen often but I guess it can happen. Maybe since xmas and new years were both on weekends so both kind of worked.
  20. I've always found refundable to be much more pricey than other options. We fly from Toronto Ontario to FLL or Miami so not sure if Canadian makes a difference. For fun, I did an Air2Sea comparison and Air2Sea price was comparable to the second tier of non-refundable (which didn't even get you much). So really good option for Air2Sea when plans are not 100% confirmed. But I only did a brief check.
  21. Thanks for the head's up that seat selection is still in USD even though the flight can be in CAD. That sucks when your flight changes from direct to connecting. Not sure if this helps but I noticed on the Air2Sea link that you can do a check for flights, and although it defaults to flying in the same day, you can change the date. The flights shown though are limited so it may depend on the flight you booked.
  22. Yeah. Luckily (or unlucky) we live near a large airport in Toronto often many options if going to another big airport. My clarification though was the longer flight due to Air2Sea vs booking regular way.
  23. You mean no direct flights when booking Air2Sea for your route?
