  1. I think 90% of the complaints about one-entrée-at-a-time are because people want to order the lobster entree and the steak entree together on lobster night. They have been doing it for years to create a surf-and-turf dinner, and now they can't. If RC would make an exception to allow this I believe most complaints about the policy would go away.
  2. The two additional guests will have a different reservation number because the RC booking system can only put four people on a reservation. Since your TA is the world's best they will surely link the reservations, but double check they do get linked because this will keep everyone together for dining arrangements and reservations.
  3. We usually take the RC excursion where they drop you in Old San Juan for a few hours and then they take you to meet up with your luggage to the airport ("Old San Juan on your own"). If you're not interested in hanging out in old San Juan they have a similar excursion that takes you to the rain forest and then to the airport.
  4. If you ever need free Wi-Fi in port ask your waiter or cabin attendant, they know all the best places.
  5. When you go on the drink run take the SeaPass cards for both people so that they will give you two drinks at one time.
  6. Passengers have been notified to arrive 1.5 hours later than their original arrival time (but no later than 3:00 PM) due to a medical evacuation on the previous sailing.
  7. The key information is the reservations are linked. This means anything you do for one will happen for both, especially dinner reservations. All five people will be assigned to the same dinner table. If you make a specialty dinner reservation it will apply to all 5 people on the linked confirmation numbers.
  8. It is my understanding that the solo studio interior cabins don't have a single supplement. Is this still correct? When you book the interior guarantee for one person don't they charge a single supplement? Do they refund it if they assign you to a solo cabin?
  9. Expect more bad publicity for Royal Caribbean after a new post on Reddit undoubtedly will go viral. A passenger on the Blue Lagoon Ferry that sank says Royal Caribbean promised the passengers free Internet service to notify family, reimbursement for lost items, and reimbursement for the excursion itself. The person who was aboard the ferry with their family says RC is now giving them the runaround for the reimbursements and reneging on promises. They describe how their children were traumatized from the incident. "We were on an excursion in the Bahamas through RC. Our ferry carrying about 150 people to the excursion sank, and 1 person died. A toddler needed cpr and was luckily brought back. Our kids are traumatized and won’t go near water since the incident. "While on the cruise, the ship made great promises to make up for the disaster. (It happened from a combination of a ferry in need of maintenance, untrained crew, and kinda rough waters). The promises were reimbursement for lost items in the wreck, to free internet access to contact family, and obviously reimbursement of the excursion. But due to the way RC does things, it will take 1-2 weeks for refunds to show up. "Now its almost 2 months since and almost nothing. Every time we call they say they’ll get back to us and don’t. Just today they said no internet is reimbursed and we need to go to a 3rd party and log our lost items, when we spent time doing that right after on the ship. "It seems like RC told us everything we wanted to hear while onboard so no one caused a scene, but then ignoring everything afterwards." https://www.reddit.com/r/royalcaribbean/comments/18nvpd9/excursion_disaster_relief/
  10. If they have stopped selling cabins in that category it is likely they held some back to fulfill the GTY reservations.
  11. I don't know why people are giving you a hard time for booking the cruise based on a "crew member". I guess you're only allowed to select a ship the same way these other people select their ships! You're doing it wrong!! Jordan is a performer and people want to see their favorite performers. I think it was pretty neat that you did your research and chose the cruise for this reason, I think it's as good as any other reason to choose one particular ship over another. Your daughter is lucky to have you as her parent.
  12. FYI they posted their review on another thread, here (read this entry and the following entries): https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2973998-recent-tobago-info/?do=findComment&comment=66488855
  13. Kids Sail Free is blacked out from March 8 to April 4, 2024, but there will still be a lot of kids. And a lot of college students. And a lot of people your age.
  14. I remember that Broadway Rhythm & Rhyme show on Voyager. Mostly I remember I didn't like it. I have seen a lot of Broadway musicals but I did not recognize most of the songs in that show. They seemed to be mostly obscure songs from very old plays. They should update the show. It would also be good if they displayed the name of the play and the name of the song on the video screen so we'd know what we are listening to. They had another show called Music in Pictures on Voyager with the same problem. That was a 7 night cruise, maybe they didn't have that show on your cruise since yours was 5 nights.
  15. What is different about the hideout cabana that makes it $900 more than the hideaway cabana?
  16. Usually they recognize in advance that they are overbooked and they send out an email to passengers with several options / offers. They send it a couple of weeks in advance asking for volunteers, and then they accept volunteers as needed. These have been posted on this forum several times. The email goes to many passengers, not just those without assigned cabins. Usually they limit it to people who live within driving distance of the port so they don't have to deal with flight and hotel reimbursements.
  17. Liked them both, but CK version was better.
  18. The Viking Crown Lounge (or whatever it is called on each ship) is empty during the day. Plenty of tables and a nice view. If you happen to be a Diamond member the Diamond Lounge is open and empty during the day, as is the Suite Lounge if you are in a suite.
  19. The lobster tails are prepared differently in CK. When we were in CK on lobster night they served the CK lobster tails, and they also brought us lobster tails from the MDR so we could try it both ways and see which we liked better. This was before they started charging for extra lobster in the MDR.
  20. The way it has worked is on the app you can skip ahead and select an arrival time, but on a computer / web browser you can't skip ahead. If you start your check in on the app and just skip to the end where you choose your arrival time, you can go back later and finish your check in on the app or on the computer. I read recently that RC was experimenting with having check in available on the app only, with no computer option. I think they were trying it out on one ship but now I can't find where I saw that.
  21. Jewel of the Seas has a cinema, maybe the other Radiance class ships too.
  22. That's a good point, they have made some changes to MDR dining, some of which were protested at the time but are now the norm. They used to take your dinner order, then take your dessert order when you were done with dinner. Now they do it all at once which saves time but caused an uproar when they made the switch. I also remember when the assistant waiter would come around the table with a basket of rolls and you'd ask for the one you want. Now they just put the basket on the table.
  23. Some of those umbrellas are in public areas and some are in the seating area reserved for suite guests. Don't count on them being there at all, or being available when you arrive at the pool. The best bet for shade is under the overhangs.
  24. I agree with your observations. #4 especially. Remember you have already paid for dinner in the MDR, the specialty restaurant charge used to be more like a surcharge for upgraded dining.
  25. Here is a photo from Independence of the Seas. A you can see, the top deck has no shade, but the pool deck has shade in the areas underneath the top deck.
