  1. No, sorry, I have nothing like that on my personaliser. Just shows that I have the Plus drinks package.
  2. Yes, I have heard of American tourists in self catering accommodation in the UK putting electric kettles on a gas hob !
  3. Sorry, where are you seeing that ?
  4. Ignore the app. Plus50 means that you have the Plus drinks package with a $15 cap.
  5. No need to take actual cash. Credit cards are accepted everywhere.
  6. Ignore what the app says. Go to your cruise personaliser for your cruise on the Princess web page. Then select Onboard Services. Select Beverage Packages. You should then get a message in red, as shown. Then you can review your confirmed packages, and it should show that you have the Plus drinks package.
  7. You should have challenged that. It is a wrong interpretation of the package.
  8. $15 limit. There is no differential depending on what price you paid for the Plus package. Everyone gets the $15 limit. If you bought at the old price you get all the benefits, except the new items such as keep fit classes, ice cream desserts etc
  9. How difficult is it to put water in a kettle and switch it on ? You don't even have to switch it off manually !
  10. What about flying to London with BA ? Depending on the flight time, it can be just over £100 pp including luggage .
  11. I think you'll struggle. There are very few ships of that size operating out of the UK, let alone Scotland or Northern England. Fred is really the only one sailing from that area. Leaving geography aside, the obvious alternative would be Saga, but you would need to get to the South coast.
  12. The same this year on Sky. Not our cup of tea, but others certainly enjoyed it.
  13. And your point is ? Mass produced food is never going to look overly pretty, although it is easier with starters and desserts. If you want artistically arranged meat and delicately alligned asparagus, pay extra, and eat in a specialty restaurant. The only issue with the meal shown in the photograph is the lack of vegetables, and under reduction of the jus (or gravy, as us Brits would say).
  14. I agree. But try going to Tesco HQ and negotiating your opening price upwards!
  15. It appears that you only get an invite to bid by email if you have booked direct. We are sailing on July 8th. Booked through a major UK TA. We have had no upgrade offer, yet those who booked direct have had bid offers sent to them. Seems somewhat unfair.
  16. New York Times - "Well written in depth critique" Sydney Herald- "A pom speaks it as it is " Le Monde - "Magnifique" Times - " Rarely have I read such an erudite review"
  17. I think you should only comnent if you have cruised on Princess in the last two years. Things change, and reporting on what happened four years ago is unhelpful.
  18. I'm glad you got a great deal. It is cheaper than a Premier Inn when you think that all your food is included ! One of the first lessons I was given in negotiating was to start high, as you can always come down, but you can never go up ! Perhaps I should offer my skills as a consultant to Cunard.
  19. Good point. P&O position a ship (Azura) in Malta in the summer months, but I can't see Princess doing that, due to lack of flight connections to the US. But basing a ship in Athens would open up many new destinations for the US market.
  20. I agree - in many cases the roast meat in the buffet is the same as offered in the MDR. And the next night the roast meat will be in the buffet as a casserole or some undefined curry.
  21. But the bus is only travelling at 10 mph or so. It is not exactly the ride of death ! Riding on the camels is far more nauseating, mainly due to noxious emissions.
  22. I wonder if the accountants are kicking themselves for underpricing the cruise. They could probably have sold out at a 50% higher fare.
  23. Hmmm - sounds like a doctored pitch to me, same as when you play on a spinners wicket in India 😉! Well done!
  24. We were on Sky in April and were somewhat bemused by the offerings in the MDR. (See my highly rated "Jottings" post for full details). Meals in the MDR included sausages, Irish stew, and, bizarrely, bubble and squeak (fried left over potatoes and cabbage for our American friends). Fine for the buffet, but not the MDR. We still ate reasonably well, but on most evenings our choice was limited to two courses.
  25. I totally agree with you, but we have been on three Princess cruises in the last 18 months, and apart from the easily avoided art sales (just why do people but that tat ?) we have not experienced anything you have mentioned.
