  1. To be honest, it looks very much as if you are trying very hard to tell us that you certainly are not a nobody !
  2. But you haven't mentioned the shuttle !
  3. I'm seeing winds of 43 mph forecast on the BBC for central Southampton tomorrow afternoon. Have you joined any of the roll calls for our cruise ? Mind you, it is a bit late now!
  4. We are cruising on Sky out of Southampton this Saturday. Both my white and black tux are packed and ready to go. And, judging by the posts on another social media forum, there is going to be a lot of formal wear. Us Brits like to dress up !
  5. Ge aware that certain cruisers have their own agenda !
  6. If you go for the cheapest cabin grade, at launch, and exclude Saga insurance, you might just hit your price point. I suppose that at least with Saga, you can be virtually certain that if you book at launch with 35% discount, your fare will bever be undercut.
  7. And the weather is going to deteriorate further over the next twelve hours ! I wonder if the "bar room sailors" who thought the Captain was being overly cautious still feel the same way ! We are driving to Southampton tomorrow, ready to board Sky on Saturday, and I'm not looking forward to trying to get from our car to the hotel !
  8. I think Sky might have had the right idea! It will be interesting to see if Iona docks on time on Saturday. As I posted elsewhere, I wonder if the decision to get Sky into Southampton a day early was partially influenced by the number of North Americans on board, who were flying home on Saturday. A late arrival into port would have caused havoc to flight arrangements.
  9. Selbourne, not sure if you are talking pp, or per couple. The cost for the cruise we booked worked out at £261pp. I think you will struggle to hit the £450 mark if you are talking a "couple" price.
  10. When flying back to the UK from LA on business trips , I was expected to turn up for work as normal on the first day back. Jet lag is for wimps !
  11. I think most Europeans (and I include Brits in that) especially the younger ones, would have no idea what you were talking about if you said Chunnel.
  12. I think you can only select a grade, and then you are allocated a cabin within that grade. If unhappy, you then have to call P&O and change your cabin. All a bit of a faff. The TA many of us use, allow you to choose exact cabin numbers, so no toing and froing, but I assume that means you have to book a select fare.
  13. Unfortunately you'll need an umbrella in Southampton on Saturday.
  14. I did say the reports were unconfirmed. The weather forecast for tomorrow is awful, which is why Sky decided to make a run for Southampton and arrive a day early. I wonder why Iona did not do the same.
  15. Good reply. We might bump into each other over the next two weeks !
  16. Are you off on Iona ? Unconfirmed reports are that she will be docking a little late on Saturday. Might be worth checking nearer the time
  17. I certainly didn't spend three times as much for our Saga cruise !
  18. "D" deck. Worried about noise from below if we had a cabin on "E" deck.
  19. You must be reading a different blog to me ! Yes, some minor quibbles, but nothing major.
  20. The other item to be taken into consideration, is that if no action had been taken, the bad weather could well have caused Sky to arrive late into Southampton. Given that there are a large number of Americans and Canadians on board who are flying back home on Saturday, a late arrival would have caused many of them to have missed their flights.
  21. Although unless the queries are specifically related to Saga vs P&O, I guess Saga specific questions should be posted on the Saga forum ? Unfortunately, there are very few posters on the Saga forum, so replies to specific queries can be thin on the ground. I've not had a single response to a question I posted there two days ago !
  22. The forecast for tomorrow is dire - trust me, you would rather be in Southampton tomorrow rather than at sea !
