  1. Great point! I’ll ask her what room she is in. Maybe we can figure that out before hand
  2. Thank you this is very helpful. She made the booking on her own so I don’t know the specifics. I hope that she thought to ask for an accessible room, the sailing is now sold out
  3. Good to know, thank you. I will pass that information on to her before she plans to take it onboard
  4. Thank you. I didnt realize there was a disability board on cc. I’ll definitely check it out
  5. My sister is cruising with us for the first time, in her own inside stateroom. She has an electric scooter at home for her mobility issues. Can she bring it onboard or must she rent one through the cruise line? If she can bring it onboard can she drive it from the port onto the ship or does she need to make other arrangements? Any tips or suggestions from cruisers on this board who use scooters or have mobility concerns? Thanks
  6. You definitely are lucky! I have put in bids at least 6 times. Only won once, and that was a very minor upgrade from a balcony to a balcony with a bigger balcony. Interestingly the other 5 times I was bidding from a JS or above to higher suite categories with no luck. No rhyme or reason I guess.
  7. Wow what do you think is the secret to your success? Sheer luck?
  8. Once cruising resumed and sailings were at low capacity, it seemed that a higher percentage of cruisers were winning their RoyalUp bids. Now that sailings are at full capacity and inventory on the website often shows multiple stateroom categories as sold out, are there any recent success stories out there? I’m particularly interested in winning bids within the suites category. My upcoming sailing shows balconies as available but the suite category is sold out. I know there is no way of guessing how Plusgrade determines who wins a bid, but it’s fun to try to detect recent trends
  9. I was referring to a subjective opinion regarding the taste, not the size of the portions. I haven’t seen pictures of the size of the portions, and dimensions are not always discernible in photos, but several people have posted that the portions are small, so I don’t doubt it.
  10. Thank you for posting. I’m sailing out of cape liberty in May so it’s good to know. My sister is sailing solo in an interior cabin and I had told her she could bring 2 so I’ll let her know. Did they make much of a fuss when they took your wife’s second bottle? Did it delay your boarding?
  11. Wonderful review, thank you for posting . I’m on the Oasis on 5/7. My son is getting married on that sailing. Talk about stress! I’m goin pg to take a page from your book and put my AirPods on. The hubby and I booked the crown lof5 suite for the first time. Thanks for the video. I love it already
  12. Actually I didn’t know that, since I have been fortunate not to have had to cancel a cruise, nor have I known anyone who did so. Since I didn’t know, that is why I posed the question in the first place. I asked here first, rather than calling the cruise line, just to get an idea of what options, if any were available. The person involved is still waiting on further testing and results. Thank you so much for your well wishes. Prayers are certainly welcome and appreciated.
  13. I was not involved in the booking process, nor am I the group organizer. I learned of this many months after the booking, when I heard that her medical issue may have come back, and if she is going to be in treatment she would be unable to cruise. It’s been my experience that many companies will at times will seek to accommodate long time customers. As a member of the group with a higher tier than the individuals involved I thought perhaps I could somehow intercede on their behalf. The answer from the people on this thread is that nothing can be done. There have been a few helpful suggestions which I will implement. There have been many, many post highlighting the fact that she should have gotten the insurance, which is something that at this point can’t be done. There have also been suggestions that I think I’m “special” etc. When I posed the question I was merely trying to figure out how to help someone out. A simple “nothing can be done” answer is appreciated as are the helpful suggestions, the well wishes for person possibly facing a devastating diagnosis.
  14. Thank you. It is still uncertain if she will be able to cruise or not but when we know for sure we will begin to make calls. From the posts here I don’t think we will be successful but doesn’t hurt to try.
  15. Someone else did suggest it, and I just responded. I’m hoping that she will get good news and be able to make the sailing but if she can’t and they are out the money, I don’t think that will matter that much to them because the situation would be dire and they will have bigger problems. When I originally posed the question I thought perhaps someone knew of some mechanism for refunds or future credit in situations of serious illness. But the answer is a resounding No. So if the money will be lost, so be it. Everyone in the group doesn’t know each other, but having her family chip in to recoup the money list is a good idea. Maybe it will make her feel a bit better
  16. That is very nice and thoughtful of you. Thank you for your concern and suggestion. I don’t think we will do it though. If she is out the money, it is what it is. She will have much greater problems to deal with. Let’s hope for good news and that she can make the sailing and all thus isn’t and issue.
  17. Thank you for trying to help, but I know she wouldn’t feel comfortable with that.
  18. She was supposed to have a biopsy today which was canceled because the doctor had an emergency and she is waiting for it to be rescheduled, and then for the results. However her blood work, Pet scan, MRI and constant pain seem to be pointing in the direction of a relapse.I’m hoping that the biopsy is negative, but I was trying to plan ahead if if isn’t. She actually doesn’t know I’ve been looking into this. Just trying to take things off her plate since she has enough to worry about.
  19. We obviously disagree but arguing about what, in our opinion, RCCL should do isn’t going to solve the problem. We will call them and see what they say and also call the credit card company and see if there is any type of travel coverage. Those were two constructive suggestions offered on this thread which may or may not help, but we will try.
  20. Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t. The point is that it wasn’t purchased, and that can’t be undone now. My original question was what, if anything, could be done under the circumstances as they exist in the present moment. The answer is apparently nothing.
