We are leaving NJ for the Bahamas in about 2 weeks. Someone in our group has an expired passport and has been unable to renew it. Since it is a closed loop sailing, he plans to travel with his birth certificate and driver’s license, but his surname on those documents don’t match. He will also bring his original paperwork with government seal reflecting the official name change. Is this going to be a problem? He called Royal Carribean, and was told it would be ok, but he felt the representative was not firm on that. Does anyone have any experience with this scenario? I wouldn’t think it would be a problem since a married women would have her maiden name on her birth certificate but her married name on her driver’s license. We just want to make sure he doesn’t get turned away at the port. Thanks

We are leaving NJ on the Oasis on May 7, less than 3 weeks from now. I’m starting to think about packing. I’m not sure where the ship will be on Day 2, but I’m assuming along the Carolinas? It will be a sea day so I’m wondering if it will be pool weather. Of course the weather is hard to predict so far in advance but maybe people who have done this trip before might have some insight? Thanks!

Winning RoyalUp bids after return to full capacity
dleahy4444 replied to dleahy4444's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We are a month away from our sailing and the entire ship has been sold out for the last two weeks. The sailing doesn’t even show up on the website. Im trying to royal up into star class which has fewer staterooms to begin with so im not very hopeful. I haven’t seen any postings of successful bids from sky class to star class on a sold out sailing. -

Scary Medical Emergency - Cruise Credit Chance

May I ask what company you use for medical? We are in NY. I don’t need that much travel insurance to cover the trip but I have a medical condition that can cause a sudden emergency while on the ship so I’d like to up the medical portion of our coverage thanks -
My sister is cruising with us for the first time, in her own inside stateroom. She has an electric scooter at home for her mobility issues. Can she bring it onboard or must she rent one through the cruise line? If she can bring it onboard can she drive it from the port onto the ship or does she need to make other arrangements? Any tips or suggestions from cruisers on this board who use scooters or have mobility concerns? Thanks

Winning RoyalUp bids after return to full capacity

You definitely are lucky! I have put in bids at least 6 times. Only won once, and that was a very minor upgrade from a balcony to a balcony with a bigger balcony. Interestingly the other 5 times I was bidding from a JS or above to higher suite categories with no luck. No rhyme or reason I guess. -

Wow what do you think is the secret to your success? Sheer luck? -

Wow that is a lot! Were you bidding the max? -
Once cruising resumed and sailings were at low capacity, it seemed that a higher percentage of cruisers were winning their RoyalUp bids. Now that sailings are at full capacity and inventory on the website often shows multiple stateroom categories as sold out, are there any recent success stories out there? I’m particularly interested in winning bids within the suites category. My upcoming sailing shows balconies as available but the suite category is sold out. I know there is no way of guessing how Plusgrade determines who wins a bid, but it’s fun to try to detect recent trends

Anyone enjoying the new menu selections?
dleahy4444 replied to dleahy4444's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I was referring to a subjective opinion regarding the taste, not the size of the portions. I haven’t seen pictures of the size of the portions, and dimensions are not always discernible in photos, but several people have posted that the portions are small, so I don’t doubt it. -
New Wine Allotment - 1 Bottle per Adult

Thank you for posting. I’m sailing out of cape liberty in May so it’s good to know. My sister is sailing solo in an interior cabin and I had told her she could bring 2 so I’ll let her know. Did they make much of a fuss when they took your wife’s second bottle? Did it delay your boarding? -

Wonderful review, thank you for posting . I’m on the Oasis on 5/7. My son is getting married on that sailing. Talk about stress! I’m goin pg to take a page from your book and put my AirPods on. The hubby and I booked the crown lof5 suite for the first time. Thanks for the video. I love it already -

Actually I didn’t know that, since I have been fortunate not to have had to cancel a cruise, nor have I known anyone who did so. Since I didn’t know, that is why I posed the question in the first place. I asked here first, rather than calling the cruise line, just to get an idea of what options, if any were available. The person involved is still waiting on further testing and results. Thank you so much for your well wishes. Prayers are certainly welcome and appreciated.

I was not involved in the booking process, nor am I the group organizer. I learned of this many months after the booking, when I heard that her medical issue may have come back, and if she is going to be in treatment she would be unable to cruise. It’s been my experience that many companies will at times will seek to accommodate long time customers. As a member of the group with a higher tier than the individuals involved I thought perhaps I could somehow intercede on their behalf. The answer from the people on this thread is that nothing can be done. There have been a few helpful suggestions which I will implement. There have been many, many post highlighting the fact that she should have gotten the insurance, which is something that at this point can’t be done. There have also been suggestions that I think I’m “special” etc. When I posed the question I was merely trying to figure out how to help someone out. A simple “nothing can be done” answer is appreciated as are the helpful suggestions, the well wishes for person possibly facing a devastating diagnosis.
