  1. Oops, yes, I forgot about the free standing bars at the back of the dance floor in addition to the two full service bars on either side of the theater.
  2. @Neyolle Welcome to Cruise Critic! Unfortunately, cruises get rerouted for hurricanes each summer. Unfortunately, you booked a cruise at the peek of hurricane season that was disrupted along with many other cruises that week. The cruise contract you signed allows the cruise line to change itineraries at their discretion without any compensation to the passenger. Normally, the passenger has zero options - Cruise or Lose. In your case, you were at least offered a FCC. Continue to be patient, things take more time than anticipated when thousands of passengers are disrupted. If you were on the Getaway, someone posted the change letter on the roll call on post #173
  3. I think that it helps with the facial recognition software they use to disembark/embark at ports and, if you're lucky, to clear immigrations on the ship at US disembarkation ports.
  4. There are two bars in the Theater/Club. One on each side of Deck 6 (dance floor).
  5. That's the key. Any successful cruise line, not just NCL, needs to maintain their business. You have to cater to the contemporary (millennial) cruiser who are the next generation to sustain the business into the future. The Bird is old, cruising since the days of rented wooden deck chairs. Cruise lines have us mature cruisers "hooked", the mature cruisers will continue to cruise regardless of what the cruise lines do. That being said, The Bird likes the innovation. The Bird likes the "new" to address shortfalls of the past. Not having to pack formal clothes and a suitcase of shoes is a outstanding. Not having to deal with early/late traditional dining (with chatty tablemates who you can't stand) and being able to eat when we are hungry or when it fits our schedule is revolutionary. Having Broadway entertainment versus the not-so-good magician and not funny comedian is great. If you have been around Cruise Critic for a while, you can remember the utter outrage when NCL removed fish fingers from the lunch MDR menu and replaced it with, *gasp*, poached salmon. Or the condemnation when chicken noodle soup was removed from the menu in favor of pho. The Bird holds upper tier status on multiple cruise lines. NCL continues to be the leader in the evolution of the cruise industry. Other lines (which we sail on each year) are playing catch-up. NCL has done great things with the Prima. 100% Bird endorsed.

  7. NCL has proven this to be an effective approach to dining on the much, much smaller Haven menu that never changes. There is no need to fix any problem. There are a lot more than 7 main courses on the MDR menu and you can eat something different every night,,, unless you eat two entrees every night in which case you may run out.
  8. Yes. You get a refund of any purchased items, port taxes and fees. You lose your cruise fare.
  9. If you a high roller, there is a VIP room with a couple of Blackjack tables in a separate from the main casino.
  10. The Bird was on the inaugural (first voyage after christening) of the Breakaway, Getaway, Escape, Bliss, Encore, [Symphony and Wonder], but could not travel to Iceland for the true inaugural of the Prima. So,,, we booked this short cruise because it was the first US cruise... kinda an inaugural. We're planning a longer cruise on the Prima as our next adventure... more time to enjoy this beautiful ship.
  11. We'll, that's a wrap. Thanks for coming along with The Bird on the inaugural first US voyage of the innovative Norwegian Prima! The Bird hopes that everyone has enjoyed a bird's eye view of the newest NCL ship and the first ship of her class. It was a great cruise on a beautiful ship. The Prima is Bird-Recommended!
  12. Kids Aquapark Tip: There is a "secret" sundeck around the Kid's splash pool that has been undiscovered by many with loungers and daybeds.
  13. If you feel the need,,,, for speed. Race a few laps on the 3-story Prima Speedway.
  14. Wanna be a millionaire? Try your luck in the Prima Casino. On this cruise, there was a constant stream of hand-pays. And one $30K slot machine jackpot and one person playing a 10-play VP who got a dealt Royal Flush. Last week there was a $50K payout on a buffalo machine.
  15. The Prima's Observation Lounge is appropriately sized for the ship. And based on the wasted space on the Bliss, Encore, and Joy.
  16. Here is the disembarkation schedule for the Prima today. We had a scheduled arrival time in NYC of 7:00 am. We actually docked around 4:30 am.
