  1. It has to be a supply or price issue. Baked potatoes have all but disappeared from the MDR menu as well.
  2. More than likely you will be charged for Cheers on the first day of the cruise. They are pretty strict about this. It's the same as if your husband went up to a bar during embarkation and ordered Cheers just for himself, they'd automatically charge you for it as well. If you happen to slip through it would be unprecedented as far as I am aware.
  3. On my first cruise since the restart, they were serving frozen fries but similar to the old Guy's style. On my most recent cruise, they were serving the Deli fries but lightly tossed in the Guy's seasoning. Frankly I like the Deli's fries anyway so to me it's an upgrade. I like fries to have a little crunch to them.
  4. You will only be served 15 alcoholic beverages per day, no matter how they're paid for.
  5. Well the good thing is if it's a good deal it won't be available for long so you won't have much longer to fret over it.
  6. I always want staterooms above and below me if at all possible. However, one cruise we were under the Casino - and despite it being a Premier cruise (didn't know until we got onboard) it was not an issue. I absolutely would not want to be under the night club under any circumstances however. BOOM BOOM BOOM all night. The Havana Bar on Sunshine isn't really a nightclub though. At least, I've never noticed activity there late at night. Maybe I've just never noticed it though.
  7. My two cruises on Sunshine after her late 2021 drydock bear witness to the fact that they certainly did not replace any worn carpeting. They didn't even re-lacquer the wood handrails on the open decks.
  8. Usually they won't do more shows, they'll bring on performers for other nights. A magician, variety act, etc.
  9. Carnival has been unprofitable for the past 2 plus years so they're not doing anything in drydock right now except what is actually required to do, plus the new livery.
  10. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1138/kw/credit card authorization form/session/L3RpbWUvMTY1NDAzNDUwOS9zaWQvZlU1eVdMRHFEYUE2Ymp3NTlDR0p4R1VvQVVzdXRRN29DYWRYaWFVb2RPVzVZaTJsZHk4RzJpZzVidyU3RWZSWmxkSTRCVyU3RXZrMHZIZlJ2S3pzMmIlN0VkTWtzd05wMXptZ2Q5MnVhTU1pcWo2cXcyRjdrNHY1c0NjVUpRJTIxJTIx $100
  11. They do not use any scent in the laundry.
  12. Their contract presumably runs through the end of 2024, so they will probably fill out the rest of the year before long.
  13. Well, nautral gas has exhaust. Anybody who uses natural gas to heat their homes knows that. Plus all the other gases that need to be exhausted - kitchen exhaust, plumbing, etc. So all ships need a funnel of some sort. Carnival's funnels do not need to be shaped as they are, since no other ships do. But it is their trademark. That red, white, and blue whale tail seen over the buildings in Nassau is distinctively Carnival.
  14. The dining room has probably seen the most changes since 2010, it's like a Chili's or something nowadays compared to how it used to be.
  15. "On embarkation day, a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, energy drinks, juice, and milk), packaged in cans or cartons, may be brought on board and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12-ounces/354-ml each or less, per person." https://www.carnival.com/help
  16. The Carnival Sunshine will not fit in Jacksonville. I think Sunshine will spend the rest of her days after she leaves Charleston running short cruises out of Miami or some other port with multiple ships. She is now the oldest in the fleet after all. I do hope Carnival decides to put a ship in Norfolk year-round in light of this decision. But I don't think it'll be the Sunshine.
  17. That's good news, hopefully the staffing issues are getting better.
  18. The city of Charleston does not own the port, it was not their contract to renew or not renew. The SC Port Authority owns the facility and decides what it is used for.
  19. My wife is platinum (I will be very soon) and we rely on the laundry benefit to make it possible. In fairness we usually each carry on a backpack (or as Spirit/Frontier call it, a "personal item") but those usually only have important medication and documents, electronics, etc in them. All the clothes are in the carryon luggage.
  20. I think the calculus on keeping them longer than Fantasy class vessels is more favorable, since they have so many balconies and suites and those rooms generate more booking $$$ obviously. And as long as it's worthwhile for Carnival to stay in Baltimore, Tampa, and Jacksonville at least - they'll need ships this size.
  21. Except where destination requirements differ*, guests who are up to date with their vaccines may take their test within three days prior to sailing. Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, including any booster dose, when eligible. Example: If the sailing is on Saturday, guests who are up to date with their vaccines may take their test as early as Wednesday and as late as Saturday, if guaranteed to receive results in time for check-in. If a guest is fully vaccinated but not up to date with their vaccines (i.e., is eligible for a booster but has not received one), they must take their pre-cruise COVID-19 test within two days prior to sailing. A fully vaccinated guest who is not up to date with their vaccines may take their test no earlier than Thursday and as late as Saturday.
  22. I doubt they'll add decks to the Spirit class like they did the Sunshine, but I could definitely see them rip out some lounges and part of the theater for more staterooms. And partially de-Farcus them at the same time.
  23. The "mask police" stationed in high-crowd areas carrying bags of masks are gone as you surmised. They appear to still be providing two masks per cabin, I got two in my cabin earlier this month on Sunshine, but who knows when they'll end this practice. They don't seem to be used much, at least they weren't on my sailing. They're not KN95's or anything special, just those regular light blue masks that are everywhere nowadays.
  24. Since you live in Florida you're probably able to drive to the port and can pack whatever you need for your cruise. Those of us who fly have to pack light. It's much easier to pack maybe two or three outfits for a week and just have them washed as needed. My wife and I both share a carryon sized piece of luggage when we fly.
