  1. Let's see Carnival adopt Medallion and do something about the long lines for pizza.
  2. I remember I was on one of the first Sunshine cruises out of Charleston back when Ecstasy was the main ship and they were just testing out Sunshine in Charleston. The crowds were incredible. The facility was absolutely at it's breaking point. Charleston figured out how to get wait times down and on my last cruise before COVID we practically walked from our car to the ship, and our two cruises since the restart were just as fast if not more so. Norfolk will figure it out as well if they have the gumption. The main challenge it seems is Norfolk doesn't have access to on-property parking, that's probably their main chokepoint.
  3. There is a huge opportunity here with Charleston ending their homeport operations - Norfolk should be preparing to strike while the iron is hot if they want that contract.
  4. I hope they get the parking situation handled. Sounds horrible. Three hours to park? That is insanity.
  5. Apparently these reviewers just got their first credit card before their cruise? This is normal behavior for any kind of pre-authorization - especially travel. Hotels, even gas pumps, will authorize the card and then charge the card at the end of the transaction.
  6. Regardless, I have heard no reports of this kind of theft happening so I don't think it's an issue. The cards being at your cabin door saves time in the terminal which is a good thing.
  7. I actually expect Sunshine's 2021 drydock to have been her last sailing as a Carnival vessel. She is the oldest ship in the Carnival fleet and Carnival hasn't really done anything to her since her 2012 refit aside from routine maintenance.
  8. I doubt Carnival wants to operate yet another height-limited home port. The only option I can see if Carnival wants to stay in Charleston is to build a terminal a bit further up Bay Street at Columbus Terminal. I doubt they could get that done in time for the end of the contract though.
  9. State of SC owns the port so they're really the only people who can close it. The city and it's old money residents have no jurisdiction over the port much to their chagrin. Their only play was to say it was somehow an environmental issue. Eventually, they won.
  10. They just leave the luggage outside the door, no need to steal the room key to look in the luggage. If someone wants my skivvies that bad, more power to them!
  11. I always felt like the "old money" in Charleston didn't mind the cruise ships, they just didn't want them docked right downtown. So perhaps a terminal elsewhere would work if suitable shorefront can be found. Obviously though part of the appeal of Charleston is docking in downtown steps from Market St. SC Port Authority operates a large facility across the Cooper River from Charleston in Mt. Pleasant, but it is past the Ravenel bridge. I wonder if they were to build a cruise port there, could the Sunshine or other ship fit under the Ravenel bridge?
  12. It just doesn't happen, the room is empty at that point so what's the point of stealing the key? The most they could steal is a towel or bar of soap. They can't use it for purchases because your photo would show up when they use it too.
  13. The Brits usually isn't sitting on stools - but I have experienced that on other ships (in addition to Ecstasy), I think they do that when they can't practice or if the ship is moving too much for them to safely do their routines. I love Ecstasy and will sorely miss her when she is gone for good.
  14. You can link all of your bookings together in your cruise manager, and so if you all choose the same dinner sitting you'll be seated together. Just talk to the Maitre 'D when onboard and ask for a table in the corner. Not guaranteed of course, a lot of ships the big tables are near to the center of the dining rooms.
  15. They do grant some, I have seen reports on here of people being granted religious exemptions.
  16. They sure did, one of my cruises was cancelled like two days after I paid it off. I was nonplussed.
  17. They might give you an extra day or two days to pay it off, but I really doubt they'll give you an extra month.
  18. Those are not single serve drinks. They have never counted. The point is though if you don't have Cheers or DOU and you buy 4 drinks at Alchemy, do those 4 count against your 15.
  19. I hope it's brought back to all sailings it really is a nice respite.
  20. Good news! Hopefully they're back! In my 3 cruises since the restart all I got with my prime rib was a half of a potato with cheese already cooked on it. I have always enjoyed the prime rib, but I eat it so rarely otherwise I really have no frame of reference.
  21. I've seen people mention that to "Possum" (aren't they all named Possum?) before at Guy's. They cook them a fresh one on a freshly cleaned grill with clean utensils. You have to wait but it's not a problem.
  22. They're still served on Lido but have all but disappeared from the MDR at least for now. Even on elegant night, no baked potato with the prime rib - just half a potato with cheese cooked onto it. I think they'd bring you sour cream and bacon bits if you wanted it though.
  23. I'd say he should go back to where he got his shots and have them reissue him a new card with his legal name. And make sure everything is in his legal name. Telling them "But I go by Trey" is a great way to watch the ship sail away from the pier.
  24. I agree and get your point. But I acknowledge that Carnival has to set a limit somewhere to limit people being over-served and getting belligerent or passing out on the Promenade. And the only way to make it fair is to make it the same for everyone. Otherwise people will just go to another bartender and they'll let it slide in exchange for a tip. 15 drinks a day is fair because it is the same for everyone on every ship.
  25. Question is asked and answered every day. In your defense however the posts are usually deleted so it's tough to search for. It's up to the CDC and the ports of call. Not Carnival. I'm sure Carnival would prefer to end all restrictions tomorrow because that's more business for them.
