  1. So we are booked on the Meraviglia 4 night cruise departing from Port Canaveral on November 13th in a YC inside suite. I specifically chose this category because A) it's in the YC and that's where we prefer, B) it was the only inside suite left and I'm hoping (maybe irrationally) that an inside suite will be cooler at night than a balcony suite, and C) it's only 4 nights so paying the extra for a balcony given my fears of it being hot did not seem practical. In the past month I've received two upgrade offer e-mails. In both opportunities I can upgrade to a YC deluxe for $415 pp or a YC duplex with whirlpool for $1440 pp. (Note in the first offer, the pp minimum bid for the YC duplex with whirlpool was going for $1800pp.) There are 15 deluxe balcony suites currently available. I didn't bother to check the number of duplex bc I'm just not interested. If I'm still receiving upgrade e-mails then I am assuming that others booked outside the YC are as well. So here's my wondering... If, let's say, an Aurea booking is offered a bid on a YC category...even if one isn't currently available like.... my interior suite. The owner of that (Aurea) booking decides to bid on an interior suite. Let's say that bid tips over a series of dominoes where the Aurea gets my interior, another gets the Aurea, and so on. This seems like a money maker for MSC. Would they see the potential for these bids and "upgrade" our booking to a deluxe balcony even though we didn't place a bid? In there eyes, they would see it as giving us a better category while making money off the other bids. Should this happen, we wouldn't argue but I'm wondering if this HAS ever happened. And if so, then it might be a good strategy to book the entry level category of the YC going forward since the interiors are fewer in quantity and getting upgraded w/o the bid is a possibility? Just musing here...thoughts?
  2. WOW! Where was everyone? The ship must have felt like a ghost town...
  3. We sail this itinerary in march as well. March 4-11. Really looking forward to the Mexican Riviera!
  4. Wow! That's coming up quick! So hoping you'll report on your cruise 😎.
  5. OMG I learned that lesson as well. I thought for sure it was just me and my unsophisticated palate.
  6. Not my video but I hear ya! Privacy is a thing of the past.
  7. Couldn't agree more! It's the only way to go! On our cruise on Seashore I remember thinking that if we had to wait in the holding area on embarkation day like the masses did just to get on the ship, I'd want to turn around a leave. It was a mass of humanity sprawled around on the floor waiting to embark. Literally nowhere to sit or stand. That alone, makes YC worth it!
  8. If they were allowing me to keep the retreat perks, I totally would have taken that deal. If the perks were gone as well, then no. But Aqua is nice and includes the thermal suite. 50% off a future cruise means I could get a suite the next time for half the price. Again...only if the Retreat perks were left in tact.
  9. An emotional shower as I understand it is a rainfall type shower that has lighting in the stall that changes various shades of blue. In general, I love a good thermal suite on a cruise ship. IMO, NCL (Breakaway class and up) has the best thermal suite experience in the industry. As I have not been in the Meraviglia thermal suite yet, when we were on Seashore, DH and I were not impressed at all. In fact, we only went once during our entire 7 night cruise. We found it to be dark and poorly designed. Luke-warm loungers were placed in strange places, ie. next to the therapy pool which was loud. We just didn't like it. Having said that, we are looking forward to visiting the thermal suite on Meraviglia next month. Here's a video. and...it was not crowded the one time we visited. Tipping of attendants is not required or expected.
  10. A little harsh, I think. I agree with your assertion that YC is much more than food or drink but for many travelers, this is not the case. Cost is a factor in cruising and fully understanding the upcharge associated with YC (or not) really has nothing to do with being narrow minded. We cruise in suites regardless of the cruise line so for us it's about which one will give us the best suite life for the buck. There is a huge price difference on MSC between YC and the other categories so asking about the value compared to the cost is quite legitimate....especially for the foodies out there who sail because of food and drink. 11. Don't waste your time with registering a card in the onboard platform...as you said, it's won't transfer. Very easily accomplished once on board. Enjoy your cruise!
  12. I think I would just avoid booking directly with MSC and let my TA handle any issues. Before we boarded Seashore I noticed that DH’s place of birth on the online check in screen didn’t match his passport. I couldn’t edit bc the editing window had closed. I told my TA and had new boarding documents from MSC within the hour. I don’t know how she did it but I am grateful that I’m not the one who had to make the call. It seems that dealing with MSC customer service is akin to having a root canal without anesthesia. In fact, the root canal may be better!
  13. Why did the cc company remove and then replace the second charge? That’s a terrible situation.
  14. 😳. Doesn’t seem quite right some how. The pricing, that is. First steps… amazing!!
  15. That’s just silly. Of course they have email addresses. I posted Lisa’s for you. I bet if you email her directly you’ll get this corrected in no time. Good luck. 🙂
  16. Was just going to recommend that you request a mattress topper. They will accommodate if they have any left. I don’t recall having specific issues with the mattress on Epic but like food, comfort in a mattress is subjective. I find celebrity mattresses to be like sleeping on a roll away cot while others rave about the comfort.
  17. If passengers can begin self assist walk off at 8 then it’s doable. But our last flight out of MIA had a unusually long security line. Took nearly 45 minutes to get through. Couple that with transportation issues (potential) it’s cutting it very close for comfort. Saving $100 bucks for $1000 bucks worth of stress is a terrible way to end a vacay. JMO
  18. Well it looks like it's there after all. My apologies...and I'm happy you'll get your fix 🙂
  19. Huh..well what do you know? Thanks for posting.
  20. Yes, and I sincerely hope you are able to get this resolved. A few years ago my DH picked up the wrong bag at the Delta terminal baggage claim. He got it all the way home and started to unpack when he realized that he had someone else's dirty dungarees. That also meant that Delta likely had his bag waiting at the terminal. Now he had to go to the trouble of getting his bag from Delta as well as returning the wrong bag to the rightful owner. Both were absolute PITA situations and Delta customer service was of little help. We were disappointed in their attitude toward the customer. Sometimes I think that a company can get so big that it looses sight of the individual. My point is, it's not just MSC.
