  1. We went with the regular menu on Ascent and enjoyed everything we tried and agree there is PLENTY of food. The only thing I will do differently when we dine in Eden next time is get my own crab cake. Last time DH and I shared one and it was delicious...but he got more than me and I was jealous.
  2. We have been looking at some 6 and 8 night itins on the Beyond for later this year....though I think we will forego the suite in favor of a PV or SV stateroom instead. We were more impressed with the 4 MDR's on Ascent than with Luminae and I think this sealed our conviction that we could do without the suite life....which isn't to say we won't book another suite if the price is right 😊. Will be following your review with great interest! Safe travels!
  3. Disappointing to read that some of the drinks staff treated you differently for not tipping above what was already applied. Like @NMTraveller, we tend to tip the martini bar tenders because they put on a great show. It's been so long since we have cruised without a drinks package and even though we have the Elite status as well, I really don't see us sailing without one anytime soon. We definitely get our money's worth. As for the thermal suite, I totally concur with your assessment! As much as we enjoy the Celebrity product, I think they missed the boat when they didn't create a thermal area akin to NCL or even MSC when they introduced the E class ships. The solarium is the closest thing to what those other lines offer, and I do love that they open the area to everyone (16 years plus) but most don't have the hydro-therapy pools, which we really enjoy.
  4. We are also cruising to Alaska in May. We embark may 31st. Guess we better make final payment too…almost forgot. 🤦‍♀️
  5. So sorry about your friend. Somehow I feel she is there with you. Thank you for taking us along on your cruise!
  6. We are on Reflection in July. Thanks for posting. Glad you had a great time.
  7. We didn’t think so. In fact, we enjoyed the Rooftop Garden Grill much better and their menu also offers steak. it was a one and done for us. Edit to say: service was fine, food was just average. DH felt he could make a better steak at home.
  8. Have you logged out of the app and then logged back in? I had something similar and had to log out/in to get it to update to current info.
  9. If it’s included in the premium but not in the classic it likely priced somewhere in the 11 to 15 dollar range. The charge will be the difference plus 20% gratuity.
  10. Just logged in to find I have 96 notification. Glad they’ve been restored!
  11. Really? How so? Bad taste, service, lack of choice? Just wondering.
  12. I would make a point to make it bc it’s the only place to get a sit down meal outside of retreat or paying a specialty up charge. If you have a later check in time, show up early. Worst case, they will ask you to wait for your assigned time. For Florida departures there has never, in my experience in the last 2 years, been a wait.
  13. The last time we did the chef’s table I want to say the price per person was around $150. It didn’t include the book or the name Daniel B. It started with bubbles in cellar masters and included a galley tour. The meal was in Murano..several courses with a wine pairing. We enjoyed it immensely. This was on Silhouette in 2019. I thought the rate back then was pricey. The rate you’re quoting is likely in line with current economy, the use of the chef’s name, and the book (used to be available for purchase in the gift shop).
  14. I didn’t see your post but glad to know it was eventually fixed. I’ve gone into my notification settings to make sure I’ve selected the appropriate boxes. Still not receiving most notifications. Is there a support person I can contact or should I just hope someone in IT sees my post?
  15. While those last minute bookings may be cheaper, the inventory of rooms is often in undesirable categories or locations. I do think some of the best prices can be had far in advance of sail date but if Celebrity wants to sail with a full ship in order to be cost effective, it makes sense for them to lower prices if they still have vacant cabins...kinda lie a clearance sale...JMO.
  16. Respectfully, I didn't think I cared much about a butler either...until they went away for the SS. We really enjoyed having our morning coffee and pastry set up by our butler...not to mention the ease of having them make our dinner reservations...small requests that I didn't think made much difference. I was wrong. I hope you enjoy your suite experience!
  17. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the Search function update that happened the other day. I'm also noticing that many threads show the number of views at Zero even though it may have as many as 3 pages of replies. Something is amiss...
  18. Unfortunately, after final payment there's not much that you can do. @mom says has a good suggestion. If a higher category of SS or even a CS is in line with the price you paid, you might be able to upgrade. Did you use a TA? If so, have them reach out and see if you can get some OBC, doubtful but worth a try. Not this this helps you in any way but I used to track the price of my cruise after final payment until I found myself in a similar situation as you. After that, I stopped checking the prices once final payment was made...
  19. We are also cruising to Alaska this year...on the Edge. Our cruise is early June. Still doing my research on attire but I think the rule of thumb is to wear layers. BTW...did you mean to post this in your roll call or the main Celebrity forum? You may have better luck chatting with cruisers on this specific sailing by checking out the roll call.
  20. I follow several boards and threads and normally have upwards of 20 or more notifications but as of this morning, I'm not getting anything. I've logged out and logged in again using my e-mail address and I have also reset my password. Still nothing. Any suggestions?
  21. This made me laugh. Our kids,28 and 30, had their hands deep into our pockets when they were in college. Thankfully, both have good paying careers now but I wondered if they would ever get off the bankroll. I bet we aren’t alone and will wager a guess that it’s even worse now 😵‍💫.
  22. As a suite class regular, I loved our non-suite experience on Ascent. The ship itself is very special…I would save the money on the sky suite and splurge on specialty dining, and excursions….oh, and business class air fare… As another pointed out, the suite amenities can’t compete with your port intensive itinerary in the beautiful Mediterranean.
