  1. If it was just the four of us, I would definitely agree with you. However, half of the extended family members will not be in the Haven so most of our dinners will be outside of Haven. The last time my husband and I were in a Haven cabin, he had the filet four times for breakfast, but did choose other choices for dinner a lot besides the filet. For us, there is something so delicious about the filet in Teppanyaki. Probably all of the butter and soy sauce they cook it in. But I do know we will keep everything in perspective and have a wonderful cruise with family we do not get to see a lot.
  2. Some of these comments are just way overboard. Continue to do what you need to do for your family. I must have been a bad helicopter parent because I always had food back in the cabin for my two children to snack on when needed when they were younger. It is a miracle they are both young adults now holding down well respected jobs.
  3. Agreed. We never found the food to be poor. Please report back and let us know your experience in the Epic Haven next month. We are scheduled for March in the Epic Haven and I am getting a little concerned. This is an extended family cruise and I picked the ship. While I did take advantage of, I believe, eight price reductions, we are spending much more on this vacation then we ever have. I have not yet broken the news about the filet mignon being taken off the menu at Teppanyaki to my family which has always been our favorite meal.
  4. Or perhaps just put the filet on the menu (no upcharge) without the wellington?
  5. I believe the cost of the meal was the reason and not that no one was ordering it. I am not sure who the contemporary cruiser demographic are, but I know that three out of four in my family would of ordered the beef wellington and with the mac and cheese.
  6. What about hard liquor? If you have the drink package, are you allowed to bring a bottle of hard liquor on board? We are going to the Barcardi factory the day before our cruise out of San Juan and might be buying some rum.
  7. We booked a non-Haven suite which was supposed to come with everything that a Haven Suite gets except the Haven restaurant, sun deck and pool. As you mentioned above, for thousands less than a Haven Suite we thought it was a great price in comparison. We booked in September 2021 for February 2022 and they took away the amenities in November 2021 without any notification or price reduction. After many emails, we were given $200 OBC. We ended up upgrading ourselves when the prices dropped weeks before sailing and got to keep the OBC. We ended up sailing the Joy again this past September and stayed in Non-Haven suite but knew what we were getting which really was a great cabin. Here we go again...... The Joy Non-Haven Suites do NOT come with breakfast and lunch at Cagney's and LaCucina. It was stopped in November 2021.
  8. Accept on the Joy. We got caught up in that last year when they took away the majority of the non-Haven suite benefits after we booked it. Also, the MCT does not acknowledge any priority boarding for the Joy non-Haven suites.
  9. I once missed the muster drill because I was in the medical office. There was a letter waiting for me back in my cabin to report to a separate muster drill the next day. There was a good amount of passengers at that muster drill. The majority of them just decided upon themselves that they did not have to go to the original one.
  10. We tried to do this when we were on the Joy last February and was told by two different employees that it was not possible. I knew it was. We purchased the Certificates and then had them applied when we got back home over the telephone.
  11. I really hope with have a good experience on the Epic this March. We need to purchase more certificates and I want re-price our August cruise while on board. If they do not want to act as a "travel agent", then, they should stop offering promotions to book on board.
  12. Our upgrade options have been gone since the weekend on all of the sailings we have booked.
  13. We have always found the CN staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful and sometimes even giving us incorrect information. We have to purchase some more certificates for a 2024 extended family cruise and I dread going to their desk.
  14. You are very welcome and I thought so too. We are really looking forward to this day. Have a great time!
  15. We are staying at the Hyatt Place which is minutes away from the pier. However, not a beach hotel which works for us as we will be spending the day before at the Barcardi factory.
  16. Thank you. This information is good to know for us as we have an extended family cruise booked in June 2024 which includes a current boyfriend and current girlfriend of two young adults in our party.
  17. No questions here....just wanted to wish you both a great cruise and I look forward to reading about your experience.
  18. We are on the Epic sailing after yours and the Bonaire stop was switched out for Grenada many months ago. Then, it was swapped out for a sea day. Anyway, when I cancelled our Bonaire excursion with a private vendor, I was told that Bonaire is only allowing one ship per day due to covid so my cancellation did not come to any surprise to our vendor.
