  1. For several years I debated whether it would be worth it ($85 initial fee for 5 years or $17/year), but then I figured I would use it about 4 times a year flying domestically to/from smaller airports. This would mean 8 different check in's which is about $2.00 a check in. Earlier this year I renewed it online for another 5 yeasrs for $70, so now even less per check-in. Upon reflection, it is some of the best money I have ever spent. Even if it only saves 5 minutes, not having the hassle of removing belts, shoes, etc. it is worth it. Basically put my phone, watch and wallet (not sure if I need to do all that, but I do) in the bowl and walk straight through. Even at the smaller airports, the non-pre-check line can have 50-100+ people waiting where the pre-check line there is nomally no waiting. I can't imagine what it would be like going through a bigger airport.
  2. My thoughts as well. It would have been clearer saying the friend's wife. I read the same thing about using the coffee card as I had always thought the other person had to have a refreshment package. But, I had never actually asked the customer service rep. I do agree that if you don't like the answer the first time, call back later.
  3. So, does this mean you would have let them have your place and then you would then go to the end of the line? Otherwise, wouldn't you be negatively impacting everyone behind you, who may also have their own time concerns but arrived at the appriate time, only to then become late because people let others "jump" in line with them? The only rightful course not to affect those behind you would be for you to go to the end of the line... My favorite line was "yes, double shots are free and included in your Deluxe Beverage Package..."
  4. We are going on a cruise with a couple, one of whose birthday is during the cruise. I have some unused OBC and was thinking of buying them dinner at a specialty restaurant as a "surprise" birthday present. I already have a 3 night package. Is it possible to for me to buy it in the planner and then "gift" it to them once onboard or do I have to wait until I am actually onboard? Will royal let me use my OBC on their account or how exactly can I make this work? Thanks!
  5. Leave 10/1/22 on Explorer and just received my "congratulations" email at lunch today (9/19/22).
  6. Non-cruise related, but one time traveling back from the Bahama's and went through customs. The customs officer started asking super detailed questions about where I lived, employment, actually down to the neighborhood and street address, which at the time I though was crazy. Come to find out, he lived in my same neighborhood and was on a 3 month duty for that customs post. A little nerve wracking going through that inquisition...
  7. Current BOGO deals supposedly go off the onboard "list" price, so assuming that is the actual onboard price wouldn't it be the same?
  8. A long time ago (7+ years ago) they had the beer/wine and also the deluxe.
  9. Does logging into my credit card account all the time to see if the charge has "hit" count?
  10. Also, there is the 30% off the deluxe beverage package if purchased on board. Other than a black friday sale, which is sometimes hit and miss, the most percent off I see in the planner now is the "BOGO 50" or 25% off. With the 5 free drinks, getting the deluxe is harder to justify, as it pushes the "break even" point to about 11 alcohol drinks a day.
  11. I have two upcoming cruises with a casino discount codes and both have received a $100 shareholder OBC. They are not "comped" cruises, but I am definitely using casino discount codes as they were both booked through club royale. i did e-mail my request and proof of ownership to shareholderbenefit@rccl.com.
  12. It may be a refund of the port fees/taxes.
  13. Until recently, if you purchased the Unlimited Dining or a 3 night package the 18% was included as part of the "list" price. I believe that changed this past spring and now even those packages add the 18% onto that "list" price at the time of purchase. There is a place on the bill to add an additional tip on top of what you paid at the time of initial purchase.
  14. I am 30 days out today. I got an e-mail with my cruise documents as an attachment. On page 19 of 20 is a luggage tag. Also, on the web, in my upcoming cruise, you select "view boarding pass" and on that next page with my boarding pass was my luggage tag ready to print out. My contract was also available under the "view more details".
  15. I have actually started to take pictures of the server cards on the tables to insure I get the full name and/or table # correct....
  16. I guess, in my mind, is someone is literally "asking" for a 10 ("please give me a 10") or just reminding you of the importance of the surveys, including the impact of not getting a 10. I have had a couple of cruises where they were almost "begging" to give them 10's (which was really annoying, because they just didn't do it one time, but like five times), and so I put yes. Other times, the staff is more subtle, and so I put no.
  17. But, some big box ones don't participate in royal up... if you want to do that kind of thing.
  18. The other benefit of prime is free drinks from the casino while it is open, and a discount on internet, so that may be a further consideration to "give it a go"...
  19. Was in a hurry to get her service animal some food at the windjammer....
  20. On the app mine opened at 12:04.... I have seen some as long as 12:15...
  21. Interesting question. I am in a JS on an upcoming 10/1 cruise. Gratuities have been pre-paid in full. I have made a bid in royal up for Grand Suite. If I "win" one of these a few days before boarding, I have to pay the difference in the gratuity. I was wondering whether the amount will be the $17.50, which is the current prepaid amount for a full suite (since I pre-paid the initial amount) or will it be the $18.50, since I hadn't paid the "full suite" gratuity in full by the price increase deadline. $1.00/day won't make a difference, but just thought it was an interesting situation....
  22. Its actually pretty smart. You figure an interior room runs maybe $500/wk, probably less with the single supplement discount. Plus, he gets additional discounts/points/free cruises he earns. He gets all meals prepared and a clean room everyday. So, it costs him less than $2,500 a month. I thought I read somewhere he has a condo/apt near the port so can get off the ship to do his laundry, etc.. He is clearly pinacle, so gets 6 free drinks and internet a day. If that's not enough, you figure even playing only 1 hour a week in the casino, he is probably at least "prime" for club royale so free drinks while in the casino. A good gig if you can make it work....
