  1. Thanks @Colin_Cameron Interestingly, I have just done a search of the FAQs on the Australian website. Apart from listing the incorrect address and email address for shareholder requests here, the information given doesn't mention anything about a three month outside window for application for the benefit. The last application I made prior to the most recent one was just outside four months prior to the cruise and was processed immediately. It doesn't matter when it's applied except that it's useful to be able to make the request when one thinks of it and has a moment to spare (and then an on-going string of moments in which to follow up if the process doesn't happen as it should). From the website: Here you will find all the information you need to know in relation to shareholder benefits including: Who should I contact for shareholder queries and/or to apply my benefits to my booking? Who do shareholder benefits apply to? How many shares do I need to receive shareholder benefits? What benefits are available for shareholders? Where can I buy Carnival shares? Who should I contact for shareholder queries and/or to apply my benefits to my booking? Please see details below for all shareholder enquiries. Shareholder Benefits Team Carnival UK 100 Harbour Parade Southampton Hampshire SO15 1ST Fax. 023 8065 7360 *Email: shareholderbenefits@carnivalukgroup.com To apply shareholder benefits to your booking please forward the following items to us by email, fax or postal mail. You will need to include the following details in your communication: Your name Booking Reference Ship Sailing date Provide proof of ownership of Carnival plc stock or securities to Carnival UK. Examples of proof of ownership that will be accepted include dividend stubs, proxy statements or nominee statements. Please be sure to redact or otherwise black out your brokerage account number and all unrelated information about other investments before emailing any documents. Carnival plc is NOT responsible for financial information that has not been blacked out or deleted on documentation you submit to us. To ensure your security is not compromised you will be required to provide updated proof of shares prior to each cruise departure All information received is deleted/shredded once viewed. We therefore highly recommend guests submit copies rather than any original document, as original documents will NOT be returned. If a Carnival share certificate issued by Equiniti (not Equiniti Shareview) is held, proof of shares will not be required. Simply email your reservation number, share certificate number and full name and address the shares are registered too to shareholderbenefits@carnivalukgroup.com. Applications should be made no later than three weeks prior to departure. Applications will not be accepted once on board the ship.
  2. They don't have to be included because they're voluntary. Any part of the expense of the cruise which is compulsory must be included in the advertised price though. There are some cruise lines, such as Cunard, who sail from Australia and do not include gratuities in the cruise fare but they can be removed once on board.
  3. Do Ponant give you the jackets once you board the ship or at the hotel in Buenos Aires? I'm asking because we're going on the excursion to Tierra del Fuego on arrival with them into Ushuaia before boarding the ship and I'd like to know whether I'll need to bring my own insulated and waterproof jacket to wear that day so I don't freeze! Also, how warm is the jacket they will give us? I assume it's insukated to some degree but that I'd need a fleece layer as well as a down-filled layer underneath as well as insulated pants (like ski trousers).
  4. I've heard that Carnival Corp are using an app for some of their other brands but I hadn't heard of it having to be used for Cunard. The Carnival Corp shareholder benefits page doesn't mention it. Nor does it mention any need to apply for the shareholder benefit within 90 days of sailing. I recently wrote to them regarding two cruises for next April/May and was scolded and told to come back to them within 90 days of departure. Anyone else heard of this for Cunard?
  5. I was in a Q3 cabin on QE earlier this year and can attest to the fact that the sheets were not changed in the 11 days and nights I was on board. I know this because the sheets had unpleasant pilling across the turned-down area of the top sheet so they were indeed memorable. I was very surprised both by the state of the sheets and the fact they were not changed. They didn't 'need' to be changed for hygeine but it's rather odd for any hotel or ship to leave the original sheets in situ for so long, in my experience.
  6. Golly, 2025 attire dates are up. Queen Anne and Queen Elizabeth voyages below. QA H506A SanFran to Auckland 6th Feb 2025 Black and White (12th n'existe pas; int'l date line ) 14th Feb Red and Gold 20th Feb 'Gala Evening' Three nights of formal/gala in 18 nights at sea is a bit light on. I almost wonder if the published dates are incomplete. QE Q510B Japan circumnavigation plus 30th March 2025 Black and White 1st April Masquerade 5th April Red and Gold 8th April Black and White 10th April Masquerade 13th April Red and Gold
  7. Finally, some information regarding themes for Q415 and Q416; QE in Japan. Q415 27th April Black and White 30th April Masquerade 3rd May Red and Gold Q416 6th May Black and White 8th May Masquerade 12th May Red and Gold No surprises there! However, I'm hoping the red and gold theme might be rather spectacular in Japan and hopefully with a large number of local passengers on board.
  8. My ship is definitely departing from the International Cruise Terminal in Tokyo proper. My concern is whether it's reasonable to expect to get a taxi from Yokohama to that Tokyo terminal on departure day but having checked with the hotel I've booked at in Yokohama they say they will assist me to book a car so that should be all okay. Thanks for your reply Bruce. I normally stay away from Rome2Rio but seems they're quite useful for this particular topic.
  9. There is no walk required to embark from Melbourne. It's just not correct that a cab cannot drop you immediately at the luggage drop area. If your driver told you that, he was misinformed. Cars are definitely allowed onto the pier when they contain a passenger who has a boarding pass for the ship docked there. There is no walk along the pier when you are dropped at the correct location - immediately at the luggage drop. Your driver should remove the cases from the boot of the car and hand them directly to the port luggage handlers who put them onto trolleys or conveyer belt or whatever. You would then take about eight steps (possibly fewer) and enter the lift to take you up one level to the check in area. Melbourne is one of the easiest ports from which to embark upon a voyage.
  10. I'm experienced at using Tokyo trains but I'm not able to do so with my luggage for personal reasons (non-negotiable). So my question is, I'm interested in the ease and cost of taking a cab from a hotel in Yokohama to the cruise terminal in Tokyo Port as I would rather stay in Yokohama prior to my Tokyo-departing cruise. Can it be done easily and at a non-prohibitive cost? Ditto the ease of picking up a cab at Haneda airport when arriving at around 11pm to travel to Yokohama hotel. Any information from your experiences would be appreciated.
  11. Yes. Take a car to the port - cab or private - and be dropped off where the luggage is being collected. Your driver will remove your cases from the cab so you don't even have to handle them. You show your ticket as you're passing through the entry gate to the pier prior to arriving at the luggage collection point. Then you simply go up in the lift to the check-in desks. I've not had to wait terribly long whenever I've boarded. Security is swift and then you tend to just walk aboard. It could not be easier. Easier than any other port I've travelled from.
  12. One Frobisher juice - $3.60 One small bottle of water - $3.90 One Mocktail (Banana Mama) $5.75 Total = $13.25 + tax (15%) = $15.23 I know you can get a 'juice' free in the buffet but it may be what one feels like in a bar.
  13. From memory the cut-off date was for earlier in December. It was before they announced the changes to the packages meaning that if you booked earlier you paid without knowing you weren't going to get what you paid for!
  14. Anyone who understands the short term AND long term consequences of repeated covid infections is not being PARANOID to wish to avoid them! They're being responsible adults.
  15. I find it frustrating when doctors make their own decisions like this, not based on clinical reasons (unless it was?) and against what's allowed by the TGA or ATAGI or Health dept or whoever.
  16. Even if you tell them you're happy to have a private script and pay the full price? My clinic started giving them to people on request early last year.
  17. I've just bought some covid and influenza A & B tests - all in one - to take on a very remote trip in a few weeks.
  18. You can get them on a private script and pay the full amount without a positive test.
  19. They have been allowed to prescribe it on a private script for over a year. It just means you have to be prepared to fork out the full non-PBS cost for it.
  20. That is not what I was saying at all and does not logically follow from what I said. I often feel ill. I test myself when I feel ill, or have any symptoms or when I have been in a situation that exposes me to lots of people some of whom may be unwell. When I travel on a ship, I test myself regularly so I am aware as soon as I become ill. Anyway, it is the case that I have far fewer germs than most people as I wear an N95 mask all times unless I am eating or drinking and then I choose where I do that to be away from busy areas. Covid is a serious illness for many people. Please consider others' health.
  21. So you know if you have picked up covid and can stay in your cabin to both look after yourself and to avoid passing it on to others.
  22. Sounds like you were very lucky (or diligent enough) to avoid becoming ill. I was on QE earlier this year when the captain had to insist everyone take to wearing masks after over a week on board and a growing number of cases. I'm an N95-er at all times so was okay, as per on the Grand Princess recently. The coughing in the dining room was becoming quite the symphony towards the end of our short cruise.
  23. So glad to hear they had the required medication at the ready. There are certain expenses you just have to factor in when you travel and unfortunately this is now one of them.
  24. Where I live, too. All the old houses being pulled down for one massive thing without any garden, or multi dwelling.
  25. That was very bold of you. I didn't like my names but it would never have occurred to me to change them or add more. My family would have laughed at me if I had!
