  1. As opposed to? ... everything else in the world? or even the travel world? C'mon!
  2. Not only were Crystal's cabins small, they were shabby - very worn. I'm not entirely clear if you're saying Crystal was a luxury line (they used to promote themselves as being 'six star' which in my opinion was nonsense). Their food was generally reasonable quality without being luxurious with some glaring exceptions which were very sub par (such as Crepes Suzette made with thick chewy pancakes and a hideous sauce). Their included wines in the dining room were unpalatable in my opinion. They were popular among their loyal cruisers but were not a luxury line in my opinion, having sailed with them. QG and PG on Cunard are of a higher quality from my experience. I'm a bit mystified by you r story of no butter. I can't imagine why there was no butter in the buffet at the time you asked as they normally have it. Perhaps the waiter misunderstood your question.
  3. Thank you @Victoria2 for pointing out to me that WC stands, in this case, for World Club. Much appreciated. Have clearly been thinking too much today about long voyages.
  4. Have new WCs been released? I can't see them if they have.
  5. I notice QE isn't there yet.
  6. Apologies for the late reply. I thought I had posted a reply to your suggestion about the cost of the hotel but apparently it didn't load. I have checked the price of the hotel if booked independently; it would be slightly more than half the total cost of the package. It's not in Ginza district, but Minato. I do wonder why Cunard don't have more information on their system for either passengers or their staff to be able to answer questions. It appears these packages are either new or not popular.
  7. So sad to hear of the passing of Mr Gut. His gentlemanly and humorous posts were enjoyed by so many across several of the boards here. May he rest in peace. Thank you Mic for letting us know.
  8. Yeah, who doesn't. I don't know how the bugs got onto the RP but I do recall Tasmania suffered particularly badly as a result (see previous post about Tasmania and covid protocols).
  9. I see Cunard have listed a 'Land Tour' in Tokyo as a pre- or post- cruise add-on. Has anyone any experience of this? The call centre had no information except for the name of the hotel. A web search reveals it includes site seeing and transfers but no real details of what the site seeing may consist of - daily excursions for example? It's a three day package and quite expensive (well, very) so one would assume there's some substance there. Perhaps someone has done such a thing through Cunard in another city? All information welcome!
  10. Shall we agree to say 'travellers' then? Also, unlike ships, the whole population of a plane changes with each journey and the illness (whatever it is) is not carried along with the permanent population of the vessel (staff, of whom there are many). Whatever, it's going to happen regardless of what's said here.
  11. Totally agree. That is how I approached my own calculations. The incorporation of the gratuity into the package price seems to be something many people don't take into account.
  12. I'm concerned that the arrival of cruise ships from North America in a couple of months will bring with them the seeds of the current wave of new strains they're experiencing there. Don't get me wrong I'm pro cruising but at least the testing and vax requirements were a way of monitoring the situation and making it a bit less of a free-for-all. I'll be on the Grand for its first dpearture out of Melbourne in October - I'll be having my mask very tightly fitted to my face most of the time.
  13. Given the difficulty I've read about from many people trying to get legitimate refunds from Princess after a cruise, I wouldn't be assuming you'd necessarily get your money back.
  14. Very poetic. Mine was the Arcadia (confusing that these names get recycled decade after decade). 30 days on board as a child was the best summer ever.
  15. My first cruise (that I was old enough to remember) was also in that year. Golden days. And no-one would have dreamt of not dressing properly for dinner! Lovely evening entertainment and happy days on deck.
  16. Well done for working out the work around. I'm looking at it now - very comprehensive!
  17. It's such a shame they made the desserts look so revolting (lollypops and booze bottles? stale hard cake?). I think it's deliberate so they can advertise a 'benefit' which costs them nothing because no-one wants them!!!
  18. The icon on your original post looks fine. I suspect it's a cruise critic thing - either a glitch or a pause until they approve it perhaps? It's probably opening the version for you that's already on your computer, when you click on the link in the post.
  19. Hi John, I got the same message that it couldn't be opened or had been removed (a cruise critic page message). I wondered if the moderator had removed it for some reason?
