  1. If one enjoys casinos there is always Beau Rivage in Biloxi on the way to Louisiana.
  2. We have great neighbors also. In front of us are peanut and cotton fields. To the north and west is a 370 acre nursery tree farm. The neighbor to the south is about 3 acres away and I have spoken with them maybe 3 times in the 3 years we have been here. They have a lovely horse I watch in his pasture.
  3. There is always the Florida Panhandle. Beautiful beaches and a lot of things to do, see and restaurants to eat at.
  4. I am glad it isn't a big deal for you and you can still enjoy your cruise since you are kind of stuck having to wear one. We haven't had to wear one anywhere in well over a year now so it would ruin a cruise for me.
  5. Tell your daughter thank you for her hard work. So glad she is safe and hoping she can get settled in a place of her own soon.
  6. That is awful and why we won't book a cruise. I just don't want to take a chance on having to wear a mask on a vacation (or really anywhere else).
  7. I am a no and have none scheduled. I just read a post where someone on a cruise had the captain announce that they were over a certain % positive and everyone had to wear masks in public. As long as that is a possibility we will be in the none scheduled camp and continue to take vacations where that would not happen.
  8. Asiago cheese bread! The only downside for me here in Florida is not living near an HEB. Winn Dixie and Publix do not compare. HEB has a great produce aisle, a great bakery (Asiago cheese bread), great meat section etc. My husband was helping some people in Texas a couple of weeks ago and brought me 2 loaves of their bread. One loaf is gone and I am working on the second.
  9. They are deploying several temporary cell towers to areas that need them. I know driving back home Tuesday night there was a steady stream of utility trucks heading south.
  10. I think we all feel for the people who are affected by the storm. We all worry about them. It is sad to lose property but it can be rebuilt. The important part is that everyone is safe. Humor is the way humans deal with stressful, scary situations. That is why people laugh during funerals sometimes.
  11. To all the Florida people stay safe. It has been an adventurous week. My son, girlfriend, her son and I had reservations at Universal Orlando this week. Sigh. Watching the spaghetti tracks and weather reports I suggested canceling and going some other week but due to work considerations for them that could not work. I suggested canceling and going somewhere else. Nope. We left Monday with lots of rain gear, checked into Cabana Bay, parked in very safe high place, had a wonderful dinner. Went to the park on Tuesday. Nice day cloudy, no rain, rode as many rides as possible. Then we heard they were closing the parks for Wednesday and Thursday. Rode more rides until the park closed, had a wonderful dinner, packed up and drove back home. I have had no sleep but we had a great time, traffic was light coming home. Where we live we may get some wind but nothing bad. I am going to take a nice nap today then work on refunds.
  12. Well you do you. I have been on many vacations, gone to many activities, eaten in a lot of restaurants. I haven't felt the need to wear a mask for well over a year.
  13. People can have covid, be contagious and not even know it.
  14. That is only for the people the cruise line knows have covid. The people they don't know about are free to roam. The people who may have a different contagious illness are free to roam also. Maybe if the lockdown area went away fewer ill people would roam.
