Thank you and now I have another question. Been Caribbean for some time, but because we always arrived around 2pm, we also went to the buffet. Where is the Welcome on Board lunch served? MDR?
In June it was in Alexandria restaurant.
btw - CPS suggested I book car in around 40 mins before boarding time.- 1

I hope that you are enjoying your cruise. As extra charge items in the MDR are a brand new thing, if you were able to post a photo of a menu or two, so that we can see what it’s all about and how the remaining ‘included’ items stack up, I’m sure that many of us would be extremely interested to see them, especially those of us who are going on Ventura soon. Presumably they are just for dinner? This is what was posted elsewhere!

The difference I can only describe as …..
P&O is school dinners level.
Celebrity is restaurant level.
I do agree on Celebrity losing value but that for me is due to price increases.
I wish my school lunches had been equal to the standard of P&O food on offer - shame no pink custard with a skin on the top in the MDR tho 🤣

Sorry to hear that you’ve got it, hope you are better soon. Have to wonder about the prevalence of it on the ships right now.
we have our flu jabs books for 4th October at Boots, although I’ve got to pay for it this year.
My husband looked at the booster booking system yesterday, but there’s no venue that is particularly convenient, so he’s waiting to see if some better venues appear. I’m not eligible for a booster this time, which I’m not happy about, but can’t do anything about it, as it’s not available on a paid for basis like the flu jab.
I’m in exactly the same position. Will be eligible next year tho!

When you have the jabs try and relax and let your arms dangle, the muscles do not bunch up as much, this helps some people.
I was told to stand up and let your arms hang when having the jabs as you more relaxed. No idea how true that is, but it has worked for me.

I have just had a phone call to let me know that I am doing the school run today, my niece spent last evening in A&E because she was in so much pain and was worried that it was something to do with her cancer. Fortunately it wasn't but she has had a virus that has caused her to have costocondritus because she her immune system is so low due to last week's chemo.
I hope you are all fine and healthy today.
That was a bit scary for your niece. I hope she feels better soon.

Goodness that was a bad storm yesterday. Here in Dorset we had round one in the middle of the day and then round two last night was pretty wet and noisy. Poor Freddie was very annoyed at the thunder and lightning and was swearing loudly at it until about 1am this morning….
I hope this morning finds everyone safe and well, if a tad tired!

I took Teddy for a walk at lunchtime and just as we got onto the next street I could see an old lady approaching up the road on a mobility scooter. I didn't want to Teddy to react or bark so I held him back whilst she passed, only for her to stop in the middle of the road then start barking at him to get his attention! Naturally he got upset and started barking back at her then she shouted "What's his name?" I repeated it several times but she couldn't her me until eventually I shouted "TEDDY!" at which point poor Teddy thought I was shouting at him so sat down with his ears pinned back looking really sad like he'd just been told off. Meanwhile the lady drove off singing "How much is that doggy in the window?"
If I see her again we're definitely going to turn round and walk the other way.
Poor Teddy! But I must admit I laughed at your post as I could just imagine the scenario…..
Freddie has a dislike for wheelchairs, bicycles and especially wheelie bins. It has on occasion been quite embarrassing!

Morning everyone,
Grey and dull down here this morning.
Had a phone call yesterday to alter the time of our pick up, an hour and a half earlier! Just need to put the few bits in the hand luggage and I'm ready for the off!
Have a good day.
Pam
Have a lovely relaxing cruise. X

My lunch on Aurora in August was buffet. Maybe it depends on numbers.
My embarkation lunch on Aurora in June was a buffet. The numbers were not huge in the dining room.

We're both fine(ish) Gill, thank you. Frank is having some mobility issues at the moment and I'm having to help him more than normal. The heat has been affecting me and as a result I'm not sleeping much, about three or four hours a night so I'm a little down at the moment and don't feel like posting much. I've been reading all the posts and reacting, it helps me through the day. I'll bounce back, I always do.🙂
A bit of an odd day of mixed emotions for us today. Frank's 78th birthday and the anniversary of his Mum's death.
Have a good day all whether on land or sea.
Avril
Glad you are ok-ish Avril and Happy Birthday to Frank.
I hope that with the cooler weather you will feel a bit chirpier….. the heat has certainly not been conducive to uninterrupted sleep at night.
Take care. X

Morning folks - Kevin Simm and Andy Abraham are listed as the entertainment in the Limelight Club for my forthcoming cruise on Britannia. Would any of you who have seen them care to comment? Thanks in advance.
Never seen them but from memory,……
Andy Abraham is a really nice man (ex bin man and X factor) but not a great voice.
Kevin Simm (ex The Voice and Liberty X) has a really good voice so would personally opt to see him in the Limelight.

I saw the typhoon going over it did make a racket my dog is deaf but heard that.
My dog surprisingly ignored the typhoon and yet he will bark constantly when the weekly fireworks go off - and they are 3 miles away 🤣🐶

Have a great holiday to everyone off to sea……
@Purdey16 - I look forward to seeing any photos and hearing of your adventures!
@indiana123 What a nightmare with the ingress of water just before a cruise. I think we are due some dry weather now, so it should all dry out whilst you are away.

I am a solo cruiser in her late 60s and found it fine. I could have shared tables any night in the MDR but like eating by myself. There were solo meetups in the Crows Nest every day if you want to meet others. I'm a bit of a loner so didn't bother, but was invited warmly by others to join them on several occasions.
You could also meet up before going ashore if you felt like company. I felt the service I received as a solo was every bit as good as that received by couples and that hasn't been the case on every cruise I've been on.
I'm back on Iona in November, having booked onboard and grabbed the same cabin I had last time. Go for it!
That’s great to hear as I’m travelling solo on Iona next June. Thank you.

@Selbourne thank you. Booked on Iona for June 2024 looking forward to this cruise.
I’m on in June too. I’m more used to the smaller ships in the fleet, but am looking forward to trying out Iona very much.
