  1. Hello.

Just back from a few days away in Cheshire. The weather was glorious and we were so lucky not to have any rain. Freddie stayed with the owner of his doggy day care in West Sussex and apparently he didn’t bark or cry during the awful thunderstorm last night. If he had been at home with me he would have barked continuously at it. 🙄

    I hope everyone was ok.

Loved the Queen Anne pics and especially loved the Iona photo posted by @Ardennais (going myself next month).

We disembarked this morning off Arvia and as we were walking across to CPS car park noticed a queue outside of terminal waiting to embark and there was also a queue of cats waiting  to be checked in by CPS. The time was 1010am and you can understand P&O making strict rules about boarding when people are arriving this early. To be honest cannot understand the logic of people arriving that early or the benefit. Having said that seeing the queue at 1645pm of people waiting outside MDR last week for a restaurant that doesn't open until 1730pm beggars belief.

On another forum that shall remain nameless, there are so many posts asking how early they can turn up at the terminal to board, and there are so many replies saying to get there early as you’ll probably be let on board.

    Good Morning

It has been raining heavily here since about 8pm last night - it just hasn't stopped, and looks set until about 2pm today (according to the BBC anyway).

Quite by accident I spent an evening with Neil Diamond last night. I was looking to see what was on the box and found it on BBC2 - and I thoroughly enjoyed some great music. What a lovely rich voice he has.

Well it's Arsenal v Spurs today then Forest v City so I'm all set for an afternoon of great football I hope.

Teddy has gone back to bed after being cruelly made to go out for his ablutions. If there was a prize for looks of recrimination he'd win it outright.

I hope you all have a good Sunday. Be well. Jane xx

I saw a little of the Neil Diamond at the BBC last night, but reverted to the snooker when it switched channels. I saw him at the O2 about 10 years ago and he was excellent.

Freddie happily goes out in the rain for ablutions and to check the perimeters of his property 🐶. It is somewhat of a nuisance at 3am tho.
I hope you are relaxing and taking care of yourself.

    Gill x

  4. I’ve stayed in midship cabins on decks 10, 9, 8 and 6 and never had issues with movement (apart from when a plus force 10 occurs).

The only noise you will get from a sea view cabin on deck 6 is if they clean the deck or from people that are heavy footed when walking the deck after 8am.

  5. You can usually deposit your luggage from around 1100.

However, P&O are generally very strict about boarding times. You may be lucky to get on a little earlier if there is a lull, but I would suggest only getting there as early as you are prepared to stand in a queue outside the terminal which is not protected from the elements.

I can believe that, since that would have been in a specially chartered plane which could carry a patient on a stretcher. I imagine a coastguard medevac is different because it is a maritime emergency.

I think you are spot on, as I believe the pax was briefly transferred to the local hospital by ambulance and then later that day flown to Australia. We had to wait a few extra hours in port for the ships doctor and nurse to return.

I don’t think that I phrased my post very well. I was meaning that the insurers never suggested, when I specifically asked, that I needn’t worry about a medical evacuation at sea on the basis that whoever provides it (coast guard, air ambulance etc) would always do so free of charge. They said that they would cover the cost, which lead me to assume that there was one. I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that people, or insurers, have had to pay tens of thousands of pounds for such things but, thankfully, I’ve never had to find out! There have been a few on cruises that we’ve been on though, as well as unplanned port calls to drop off sick passengers.

We had an instance about 12 years ago on a world cruise when a fellow passenger was taken poorly in Papua New Guinea. The patient was flown to Australia (Darwin I think). The doctor told me that it was just as well they had insurance as the flight etc would have cost them 40k. I have no knowledge as to whether this would have been true, but there was no reason to disbelieve him.

When did they decide on only one formal night on cruises under 11 days. Expected the usual two on our upcoming Arcadia cruise. Its not worth packing formal attire for one night only.

I’d take a second outfit as P&O have been known to get it wrong on the CP.

At long last I have reached he dizzying heights of Caribbean. What is the dress code for the mid cruise Loyalty Lunch? I seem to remember seeing people in suits and cocktail dresses at midday but not more recently.

Smart casual is perfect. I normally wear a summer dress if it’s warm or trousers and a nice top if cooler. I’ve always enjoyed the loyalty lunches and the wine generally flows quite well……

We feel P&O still offer fantastic value and enough good things for us to have a great time.

They certainly aren't perfect, but many of us keep coming back, so must be OK.

We have always felt comfortable with the offering and felt it suited us. We have got a couple of Cunard cruises booked, but really not sure we will be at home like we have been previously with P&O.

We board Britannia Friday and are looking forward to clean, comfortable accommodation, plenty of food, good entertainment, good service and affordable drinks.

Very confident that is what we will get.

    Andy

Have a great cruise Andy and Michelle. 🛳️🍷🥂🍺🍸🥃

We are off to the dentist shortly. We both managed to break a tooth on our March cruise on Arvia. I did mine on the last morning. I never have a cooked breakfast but I decided to have one prior to our long coach journey home. I bit into a piece of well done bacon and lost a portion of a tooth. That was an expensive breakfast.

Ouch. Having recently had quite a lot of dental work, damage to teeth can cost as much as a cruise! Good luck!

Could you please tell my wife how you manage to travel so light... 😊

Your backpack wouldn't cover half the shoes she 'needs'...

Only kidding of course, but it will baffle a lot of people who like to partake in formal nights etc.

We were looking at booking a taxi to the port on Friday, but the app wouldn't let us book for 2 people with 4 cases... 🤷

    Have a fantastic time.

    Andy

I suppose it depends how big the backpack is…..🤣

I can travel much lighter on a warmer cruise as opposed to going somewhere like Norway when every season is likely to be experienced and shoes are quite likely to still be wet the following morning if unlucky with the weather! But I agree with your wife in that the very minimum pairs of shoes “needed” on a cruise is 5 🤣🥾👠🥿👟🩴.

The P&O email does say that bookings will be honoured. This seems to be the fairest way to deal with it as it was the P&O system fault that allowed it. I would imagine that the phones have been red hot which has probably pushed them to send the email. I did see a couple of posts on facecloth where people had reported that they were told that bookings made beyond the 14/15 day window would be cancelled, which probably caused the phones to get even hotter.

I didn’t get the original email but saw it on social media. No doubt the phone system also crashed at some point 🤣🤣

I was offered to book yesterday, but was busy, so took a look today and it's reverted to 'coming soon'

    That's for Iona in June

    Anyone else having problems today?

I managed to book the Limelight for June on Iona. It remains to be seen if it gets cancelled but I understand from elsewhere that P&O are honouring those that managed to book. 🤞

I assume the act has been announced then?

Risky strategy if not, it could be @kalos playing the spoons😂

    Andy

Yes, it’s Ray Quinn. Not the best, but certainly not the worst!

Think I’d prefer @kalos on the spoons to be honest.

  16. Yes, I was also successful a short while ago - and payment went thru quickly (altho only wanted one evening in the Limelight).

I didn’t get an email (maybe cos booked thru a TA) and sailing early June.
