My dad was a postman,he said he was proud of his job and back in the day they were mainly exsoldiers after the war.He didn't like the temps at Christmas cos they got all the  tips off his round he'd worked hard at thru the year.Full uniform then, not the scruffy sods you get now, lol.

We had the same postie for 20 years. You could set your watch by him. Always efficient and always got a tip at Christmas.

Our posties are excellent, we get post between 8:30 and 9:30, last week we had post 5 days out of 6, for some reason we got the same marketing offer from P&O 3 times on 3 different days, no idea why. As they all referred to Britannia Carribean Fly Cruises they were recycled, as we don’t like Britannia.

Last year we were lucky to get one postal delivery a week. I think we now get two.  The permanent posties try their best to deliver, but with being so short staffed and with lots of sickness it is near impossible for them. One said to me they now have agency workers to help, but they do not know the area so quite a lot gets mis-delivered. I’m not far from Poole and Bournemouth so not exactly in the middle of nowhere.

More problems this morning🙄 Had booked assistance to take us to the terminal, but they didn't come. Reception chased them up, they denied any request despite hotel having received a conformation email. Eventually got to the terminal to assistance desk, they couldn't process the request until we had checked luggage in and had boarding passes. At check in desk there was a query regarding OH walking stick, although I had filled in the appropriate paperwork required by P&O! Am now sitting in departure lounge waiting to go to the gate.

I will finally relax when I'm in the air.

Will give you a full report when I get back.

Oh gosh. More inefficient customer service. Not the greatest start for you.
Enjoy a hopefully smooth flight and great holiday.

  5. Oh dear. Customers services always used to be so much better on the ship than land side. The table situation was not handled well but at least you have been able to move to a more comfortable location. The great shame is you having to miss your trip, but i suspect that is a wise decision.
I always think that the way an issue is handled is the true indicator of how valued one feels, and by the sound of it, they have failed you miserably in several occasions.😢

I’m not at all surprised cleaning etc has been stepped up prior to entering the US - let’s hope the extra effort (which should be ongoing) is due to that a not an up-tick of you know what, but…….

I hope all goes smoothly with immigration.

Thanks again for all your posts.

That sounds good. It has just taken me 7 hours to travel fron home to Bristol!

I’m sure the horrendous journey will be forgotten once you get away from this awful weather. Have a great time.

  7. Good morning. I was awake between 1am and 3 am and then finally went back to sleep for a few hours until 0630. No idea why I had a bad night apart from the fact I have the dentist this morning!

A very thick frost here - and I stupidly who forgot to put the car in the garage yesterday in order to stop me having to de-ice it this morning (rarely do this as it is such a tight squeeze to get it in and me out).

Stay safe everyone in the ice and frost.

Thank you Graham.  I’ve just finished the packing

Still feeling unsure - isn’t it silly?

I’ll try to do a “Live from … “ but it won’t be up to Selbourne standard

Have a great cruise. It is not silly to feel “unsure”. I think many of us do before a cruise, especially if different to the norm.
I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts, both good and bad, as I’m on her for the first time in early June.

    Bon Voyage!

  9. @Peanut006 great news. So pleased to read the news about your mammogram result and also that your gorgeous dog is doing so well.

@Adawn47 Just so much for you to process at the moment and the mind goes into overdrive as to all the “what ifs”……

As everyone else has said, we are all here for you to let of steam whenever you feel like it. Sending hugs - as you can never have too many of those!

I have no problem at all with people choosing formal dress. By the same token, though, I hope they’ll be equally tolerant about my smart casual. 😉

I agree Harry. But, I think the danger is that by lowering the dress code, standards will slip even further and P&O then has to have the 🎾🎾 to turn those away wearing inappropriate clothing for dinner.

But - one persons idea of smart casual might be a onesie or pyjamas. Where do they draw the line.
I honestly don’t know what the answer is.
