Hi. This cruise has been booked for a while. It's a big birthday one and was a compromise on a Carribbean cruise because I can no longer fly.

I have just realised the second week of the cruise (22nd onwards) will be school half term. I know parents take children out of school before the holidays because of lower prices.  It's all water under the bridge now, I can't cancel but how busy can I expect it to be ? Has anyone done the same sort of dates and have any experience? We have done Iona once before but not near school holidays so not sure what to expect.

It may be worth booking the Retreat for your 2 weeks as it’s adults only. I would have thought most kids will be in school, but…….

Still the same one at the moment Simon Love is supposed to be taking over in Antigua. I’m with Selbourne no idea why we couldn’t get in this morning and after the Captain making out he was a hero in Belize by waiting an hour to see what the weather was going to do why the rush to get away from here if I wasn’t suspicious of anything I’d say they’ve got some kind of issues with the ship especially after missing Key West as well in light to moderate winds but we’ll never be told the truth

I imagine the launderette is buzzing with all the theories…..🤣🤣🤣

  4. Good morning and Happy Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday.

I would lay money on the postman not visiting our road today so I have a very good excuse for not receiving a bundle of cards…..🤣

The dog came in for a snog this morning but as he had been showing love to another part of his anatomy just beforehand, I declined his advances…🤣🐶.

@Peanut006 I do hope you find your Mum feeling a bit stronger this morning.

@Snow Hill - hoping you are both feeling better very soon and then enjoy your belated Valentine meal out on Monday.

Well I went to visit my mum this afternoon and they were just preparing her ready to have her pacemaker fitted. I certainly wasn’t expecting that but very pleased it was been done today.

I have just spoken to the ward, she’s just got back onto the ward and she seems fine. I am relieved!!! She should be home tomorrow.

    Michelle

    Great news!

  6. It was just 3c at 7am, but the sun is out and the skies are blue, so time to walk Freddie.

@Peanut006 - I hope all goes well for you Mum today.

@Beckett - I hope Teddy is now fully recovered from his poorly tum - Freddie has been annoyed this weekend as there have been a few fireworks going off 😬 (for Chinese New Year I imagine).

@Adawn47 - I hope Frank is continuing to improve and you are feeling less stressed.

    Have a good Monday everyone.

Finished up going to A&E last night when the bag under my eye go quite large, so followed dentists instructions should that happen, after 11 hours sitting in A&E finally saw a doctor at 9:00 am. The doctor referred me to maxillofacial doctor who after examination and an X-ray said rather than an abscess it was cellulitis and has admitted me to hospital for up to 3 days for IV Antibiotics, I wasn’t expecting that.

Oh my goodness. Bet you are glad you went to A&E.

I hope it clears up quickly.

Oh goodness Megabear2 - I hope that you begin to feel better soon and the fluid clears.

Have to admit  Covid has knocked me up more than the last time we caught it, (April 2022) but we were not eligible for a Covid jab this time so it is a while since we had one. Never mind, nature's own defences now and onward and upward.

Take care Mr and Mrs S

Sorry to hear you were “knocked up” Presto.

But on a serious note, I also missed out on the jab this time due to my youthful age and had Covid just before Christmas……

    @Megabear2 - get well soon.

Up early this morning, I have what I think is a sinus infection in the sinus in my cheek causing face to swell up and affecting left eye It started yesterday and I hope to get a GP appointment this morning, looking at NHS website I may need antibiotics to deal with infection, assuming that is what it is.

Oh, that sounds nasty. I hope you can get an appointment for today.

I just had to google too!😀

One website had pages of info and suggestions re door decorations.  One suggested leaving bags of goodies/candy for crew and passengers on the door,  and another suggested it  would be nice to leave  little bags of things/presents  and suggested   perhaps a gift exchange... whatever that is'  What's next, a sale out of your suitcase!

I think that the gift bags between passengers are currently happening on this cruise as I saw it mentioned on another site last week…..

@Selbourne thanks for continuing your blog. I look forward to reading it and also seeing your great photos. I hope your throat improves soon…..

Ask Cleo, for some honey, and your cabin steward for fresh lemon, mix with hot water and drink, it does not fix your virus but it does ease your throat. The Staff recommend this!

I am still suffering from my December Cruise

The bar staff also recommend a warm neat brandy…… much more enjoyable 🤣🤣🤣

    Good Morning Michelle

I was wondering the same "where is everyone?". I've been up most of the night as my dear little Ted has a very upset tummy. Poor little soul wanted to go out numerous times between 2am and 5am so mummy has to accompany him as he's scared of the dark! He's sleeping soundly now so I guess he's evacuated all the necessary. What he doesn't realise is that he's going in the bath when he's fully awake then he'll sulk for a couple of hours.

I'm so pleased to hear your trades have all been so reliable - not something you hear much these days. I bet you can't wait until it's all done and dusted.

Your mum sounds amazing Michelle. That's admirable to still be living independently at 90. Good on her and long may it last.

Have a good day.  Jane xx

Oh poor Ted. There seems to be quite a bit of doggy squits about. Freddie has been fine, but several that we meet in the park have had similar issues in the last week or so. I hope he feels better soon.
