Another “what have I done” post. Yesterday I put on my big girl pants and booked 14 days on Arvia solo! Am I crazy 🤪
Well done. I’ve booked to go on Iona as a solo traveller in June. We will both have a great time I’m sure.

Yes that does help. Thank you. I asked in a pharmacists in Portugal on our last cruise and they said that Stugeron is used for something else over there and in a much stronger dosage, but they didn’t show me that one. I’ll try to get some in Funchal as the novelty of these rough seas has already well and truly worn off and I don’t fancy another 8 days of it 🤢Is there no Avomine available at Reception? Might be worth asking.

@mrsgoggins thank you for posting your blog and photos. I enjoyed reading it.
I hope the motion of the ocean soon calms.
Have a wonderful time.

I travelled solo on Azura pre Covid (been on her twice, but once was with friends). I found the ship absolutely fine but have always found the smaller ships a better experience when travelling alone as you tend to see people again and again. I also found the solo get togethers better attended on Aurora but that may be due to the demographics.
I would go again on her for the right cruise.

@Selbourne - so pleased to hear that you and Lady S are safely on board, albeit with a few issues.
Could you maybe ask the steward for a second mattress for your wife as opposed to raising the bed (altho I appreciate that doesn’t help the suitcase issue, but the steward can store those for you).
Thanks so much for posting an update and enjoy the adventure!

Well I’d love to start with a positive, but it’s disorganised chaos at Mayflower. Arrived at 12pm with 12.30pm priority boarding. Still stood outside in the cold at 1pm. More later….
Oh dear. A friend is also meant to be boarding at 1230……😢

Good morning everyone, hope you are all well today.
Not a good start to the new year for us unfortunately. Some of you may remember I had DCIS (early breast cancer) last year and I had my first follow up mammogram in Dec, they rang me last week, “chalky” deposits found so had to have a further more magnified mammogram yesterday, just waiting results now.
Our dog was diagnosed with an ulcer in her eye over Xmas, she has been having antibiotics six times a day plus her own blood serum into her eye. Saw vet again last night, it has got worse, appt at 9.15 to see eye specialist in Penrith. She either needs surgery to make a new eye flap (if they can)to try save her vision or she will have to have her eye removed. So it’s an early start for me today as it’s over an hour to Penrith even with no hold ups on M6.
Hope all goes well for everyone with appointments, treatments etc
Michelle
Hi Michelle,
As you say, not the greatest of starts to the year.
Hope the chalky deposits are innocuous.I also hope your dog gets on ok. If the worst happens I’ve known a couple of dogs that had an eye removed and they recovered really quickly and got used to their different vision amazingly well.

Bon Voyage.

We had a few hours of horrendous gusts here in Dorset earlier this afternoon, but it has calmed down a bit now. I must admit at one point I feared for the roof!
Keep safe everyone.

Thank you for all the fabulous posts on this thread (and thanks @Host Sharon for allowing this to continue) and also all the other informative subjects.
I wish you all a happy and healthy 2024 and hope it’ll be a lot better for all those who have had their sadness and troubles in 2023.
Finally, thank you all for your virtual friendships. It means a lot.

Ive just got back from the hospital' Frank was admitted yesterday morning at 5.20am and it's been hectic. After tests he has Pneumonia, and severe anemia.which needed 2 tranfusions. To top it off he probably has a heart murmer too, he's having a heart xray to see what it is or could be.
In his 78 years it's the first time he's been in hospital and everything's come at once. Almost 59 years married and the first time we've not not slept in the same bed, it's really strange and I'm not sleeping. Sorry for the late post, but I needed to chat.
I'll try and read though the posts tomorrow.
Avril
Oh Avril, what a stressful time for you both. It sounds like Frank is getting the best care tho.
Most of us on here have had support from you both over the years and we are here now whenever or if ever you want to vent. Often writing your feelings down really helps, so we are all here to listen.Sending virtual hugs.

I had a box of chocolates given to me for Christmas. Do I eat it quickly so it’s all gone for the New Year diet or do I just have one every day as a treat! What a dilemma 🤣

I especially like the mint ones 😋 but my 'last meal' request (odd concept that!) would include a Lindt Les Grande hazelnut chocolate bar. If it were to be a last meal, I'd go for the milk version because I wouldn't care how much I ate! In real life, I usually buy the dark version as I find it easier to not overdose on that 😉
I like them all except the hazelnut one 🤣. I’m not a nutty person!

Same as me. I find all of the above very sickly. Give me an ordinary piece of plain or milk chocolate any day.
Lindt lindor are my favourites!

Quite an eventful night! We had Force 12 winds (captain said over 100 knots, so 110mph+) and the ship was getting thrown about left right and centre at times! I'm not usually scared by this sort of stuff but it was a scary experience!
Oh my goodness. I hope everyone is ok.

Many congratulations to you both. It’s wonderful to be able to do what you want, when you want.

Thats it, we're finished no more supermarkets until after Christmas now, all shopping done, presents wrapped but not under the tree. No tree for us this year as there is too much temptation for Cheddar, all the other decs are up though.
Freddie is 8 and I still wouldn’t trust him with a tree on the floor!
