  1. Is that a HAL cruise? Think you may get more knowledgeable answers on their forum. Not sure if Holland America are any better at answering their phones, but they may be worth a call. Oops - sorry just seen that you get same message from P&O site. Apologies!
  2. Best way to consume grapes is in wine….🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
  3. @Sheila127 which ship? I ask this because it can depend on sunbed/chair availability on deck if you like being outside. As a solo traveller too, I have done on inside & always sleep incredibly well at any time of the day! Outside cabin without a balcony is a good compromise. But if you can afford it, a balcony would always be my choice.
  4. OMG. That was costly. I must admit I turn off voicemail when abroad.
  5. Good morning Graham and all CC It is already 18c here in Dorset and hopefully no rain due until tomorrow (at least that is what the forecast says!). Gill
  6. Hi Sarah Jayne, Whilst at sea I would personally put Aeroplane mode on, WiFi on (so you pick up Myholiday) and data roaming off (which on my phone happens automatically when aeroplane mode on) until you are within a mile or so of land in order to not pick up the Maritime network as that will usually incur heavy charges. If the text message says business data only or no service I suspect you may be fine, but I wouldn’t take the risk. Is there anyway you can check the balance/usage on your phones? Perhaps someone else can confirm what I’ve said!! So pleased you are enjoying Iona.
  7. So sorry to hear about the breast cancer Michelle and also your beautiful dog….. what an awful week for you. Sending you a virtual hug. Gill x
  8. Agree Avril. Looking at posts elsewhere - passengers are saying it’s very hot ashore on their cruises, but the air conditioning on the ships when they get back on board is absolute bliss.
  9. Crikey if she has owned it since 1897 she has certainly served enough cream teas to know the right way……🤣🤣🤣
  10. @Selbourne I am thoroughly enjoying your informative, honest and well written posts. I laughed about the department store but Mrs Selbourne should have had the Tiffany bracelet tho. Your credit card had a lucky escape!
  11. Let’s hope there’s not a medical emergency on board.
  12. Ditto. I also purchased one after @Adawn47 recommended and much better than the arm cuff.
  13. That sort of harks back to the old days when the Peninsula Club was the POSH club! Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve always have.
  14. Please continue to post your photos Graham. I love to see and hear what you and everyone else is up to. Gill
  15. I must admit, that part of My Holiday is extremely useful.
  16. I think that for males or females that have a reasonable figure then tailored shorts can look really nice - and I so envy those people….. But, if I wore shorts I would look ghastly and very untidy (being a tad rotund). Lines have to be drawn and I think P&O have probably got it about right, altho the same rules should apply for both men and women.
  17. I do agree, altho it wasn’t so much of an issue when the ships were only the size of Aurora/Arcadia as there was plenty of room in the Mayflower terminal for all to sit and wait……
  18. To be fair, it was well organised - just a shame no information and no tenders!
  19. To me that is for a tennis court….🎾🤣🤣🤣🤣 (only joking).
  20. Ha ha. Yes, I agree about cases under the bed and did the same thing!
  21. I have no idea about the Chefs Table, but wanted to say how lovely it is to hear that your 6 year old is looking forward to putting on his formal wear and is wanting to try the different food. I think this should be encouraged and I hope he is allowed to go.
  22. I think it depends what ship you are on and where you are (Caribbean and fly cruises are often a little more relaxed). To be honest with the air conditioning in certain venues, your husband may well need long trousers! 🤣
  23. Hi Tring, The request was those going ashore independently in Guernsey either went before 0830 (and the tours) or after 1000 (after the tours). So, we duly collected our tender tickets around 1020 from Anderson’s and waited. They appeared to be only using two tenders so the process was slow. Because we thought there may be a similar wait to return we abandoned our trip at 1200. We noted our tickets were called at 1210. However, since posting I have since learnt that the ferry from St Peter Port was quite possibly taken out of service at that time due to a medical situation. Now that is entirely understandable and if P&O had bothered to give any sort of update rather than just calling 80 ticket numbers every 25 mins, then we would have been more inclined to not give up. People returning said the waiting time was reasonably short due to the ferry transporting once passengers again. No issue with sea conditions.
