  1. The levels are saturated because of frequent cruisers made worse by people collecting points but not paying for the cabins. The everyday Joe doesn't stand a chance to make it to the top levels and have them intact. Particularly if Carnival was dumb enough to add an even higher level. It won't encourage everyday Joe's since it won't be attainable and has no effect on people cruising for free. They already receive more than a loyalty program could offer. How much money an individual gambler drops is irrelevant. The majority of Carnival cruisers aren't sailing for free and that is where the bulk of the money comes from. Carnival knows who butters their bread.
  2. Royal Caribbean's minimum age to sail unaccompanied on sailings originating in South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand is eighteen (18). 18
  3. They who? I was quoting from Royal Caribbean on the drinking age. I shall quote some more MINIMUM AGE TO SAIL UNACCOMPANIED Royal Caribbean's minimum age to sail unaccompanied on sailings originating in North America is twenty-one (21). Royal Caribbean's minimum age to sail unaccompanied on sailings originating in South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand is eighteen (18). The Company retains the right, on rare occasions, to raise the minimum age to sail unaccompanied on any sailing when local laws require or permit such a modification. For voyages originating in North America: No Guest younger than the age twenty-one (21) will be assigned to a stateroom unless accompanied in the same stateroom by an adult twenty-one (21) years old or older. A guest's age is established upon the first date of sailing. This age limit will be waived for children sailing with their parents or guardians in connecting staterooms; for underage married couples; and for active duty members of the United States or Canadian military. Certain other restrictions and conditions will apply; such as compliance with the age twenty-one (21) alcohol policy, and proof of marriage for underage couples or proof of active duty military status required.
  4. The cruise line can WAIVE the requirement, for a few exceptions, or anytime they feel like it. They could also raise the minimum age on rare occasions. If we are splitting hairs.
  5. IMO that is exactly who Carnival is not trying to placate. Carnival doesn't want cruisers who cruise for perks, but cruisers who like the brand.
  6. Just a guess - under 21 couldn't book a cabin so need their permission just to be on the cruise?
  7. A portable router you connect to a WiFi source and it splits the connection out to multiple devices. Each device logs into the router instead of the ship wifi.
  8. maybe they are still spending their parents money?
  9. at least on Royal it is possible. Not obvious what Carnival's policy is. proof of age Royal Caribbean reserves the right to ask for proof of age. Royal Caribbean's age policy for gambling and consumption of alcoholic beverages is as follows: An individual's age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for their cruise vacation. However, if a guest celebrates their 21st birthday during the cruise, the guest may thereafter ask the Guest Services Manager to modify ship's records to permit their consumption of alcohol during the remainder of the cruise. The guest will be required to appear at Guest Services with his or her parent or guardian and to present a government issued form of identification to establish that the guest's 21st birthday was celebrated during the cruise.
  10. While it is fun to kick each other off of the Internet, if looking for a challenge, set up a travel router and both of you can share the connection as long as both are within range of the router - say both are in the cabin.
  11. Some think they earned, or deserve a free cruise. No, they really don't. As other have said, it is a marketing promotion. Nobody prepaid for a cabin. When a gambler loses money it is exactly that. They can't win "their" money back. It is back to square one - they are trying to beat the casino, and the odds are exactly the same as when they lost the first time.
  12. Yet NCL charges full gratuities on a less than a full selection of alcohol. Carnival is the only honest cruise line of the bunch.
  13. The drink package from Galveston doesn't begin until International waters. You can't even get bottled water - you have to pay by the drink for the limited menu. The only thing you can use it for are coffees (non-alcoholic). At least Carnival doesn't charge you for day one.
  14. Food is subjective and you are entitled to your opinion. Princess does give me free stuff of value, including laundry.
  15. Yes, free cruises do accumulate points, but nothing is earned and Carnival doesn't owe anyone anything. Carnival has wrecked their loyalty program by allowing them to be accumulated. As I;m sure I have said, gamblers are fickle and Carnival isn't interested in a bidding war. I don't like RCL but have taken a free Celebrity cruise. They keep sending me some offers, but I don't care for their casinos, but do like the smoke free part.
  16. There is instead a Platinum/Diamond party on cruises of 5 days or more, generally the last day. On the newest Carnival ships, you are limited to a drink and maybe one more loaded onto your ship card. The older ships still know how to party. Does Princess still have something similar? I don't go to either these days. Just seems like a good place to acquire a parting covid gift.
  17. Maybe to hogs. You won't find the food at the PE lounge anywhere else. Currently. There are other ports with restrictions that Princess might sail from one day. Instead of a lame attempt at an insult, just admit it. You were wrong.
  18. Carnival Cruise Line did away with the past guest party which was only once per cruise, anyway, versus daily.
  19. But nibbles aren't available at bars for the common folk. except for places with draconian liquor laws like Texas. The packages don't work until you get to International waters, but the mini-bar is available. Also convenient for taking a shot or two on shore excursions.
  20. I believe ship card, but change can be obtained from Guest Services or the Casio, if required.
  21. The T&C are clear. One (1) complimentary specialty coffee, soda or alcoholic beverage with a value no greater than $16.00 + 18% gratuity. Redeemable at any venue. Will be automatically applied to the first transaction once onboard. Alcoholic beverages may only be consumed by adults of applicable legal drinking age.
  22. The obvious answer here is to stop counting cruise segments. Carnival used to, but stopped.
