  1. Middle age is hard to define, but say broadly 45-60. Princess Cruise Line is almost 60. That puts early customers at 105-120 years old. Is Princess still trying to cater to them?
  2. All cruise lines sell illusions. Every last one. Camelot is dead. If they still hand out brochures, how many passengers look like the brochures?
  3. She no longer accepts credit cards (I wonder why?). Payment is by Zelle or perhaps check. Zelle is something else I refuse to use.
  4. My thoughts? Not very original, but... The only constant is change. Everything adapts or dies, including cruise lines. You can't live in the past. You can run (to another cruise line) but not hide. You lost me at "woke".
  5. Porta Catania The guide got us to the top level and that is where we would meet at later. That is also where we have always gone. You can see where the buses let people off and the top floor where the elevator takes you.
  6. I booked once with her years ago, only got a partial refund when a cruise was canceled - I had to pay her refund fees and a reverse exchange rate, and have never considered her again. I don't doubt that she has some satisfied customers. She also has a tendency to rally the satisfied customers to defend her. Kind of a mob mentality.
  7. There are conflicting reports and "There are no voice, VDR, recordings available from the bridge/emergency control center to verify anything reported later about the evacuation of the ship."
  8. Bingo. Some like to play semantics when they already know what was meant. But it does make you wonder about MegaShips of the Seas. A lot of people (in theory crew) might have to get into life rafts. I suspect a number would have to jump over the side to evacuate the ship within the required 30 minutes. The life boat drill on Princess used to include instruction on the recommended way to jump over the side. Makes you wonder...
  9. I imagine there are interior cabins for 3 available, but not through the casino for the cruise you are looking at. What date were you considering?
  10. This is what I see. It says nothing about double OBC for 1. It explicitly says single. Up to $400 Onboard Credit per stateroom (up to $200 per guest) is applicable to the first two guests in a stateroom and amount awarded varies based on cruise length. Onboard Credit is awarded as a credit (“Credit”) that is applied to the guest’s folio and is awarded in the currency corresponding to the ship’s onboard currency. Voyages 1-3 days in length will receive $25 Credit per guest. Voyages 4-6 days in length will receive $50 Credit per guest. Voyages 7-11 days in length will receive $100 Credit per guest. Voyages 12 days or longer will receive $200 Credit per guest. Offer does not apply to additional guests than guests indicated above. Guests with single occupancy will receive single, per guest Credit amount ($25-$200). Credit must be used on the single voyage that it was awarded in connection with, is not redeemable for cash, cannot be used in the casino, is not applicable during the land portion of cruisetours, and expires at the end of that voyage.
  11. How many life jackets were in that 3 person room? Adjacent staterooms are not necessarily assigned to the same muster station.
  12. Carnival will be happy to sell the free room and make even more money.
  13. The times are changing. We used to be able to carry on in all of the ports. No more. I have been on a number of Carnival cruises in Europe. I wouldn't be surprised if ports of embarkation are next. In Barcelona, there is a liquor store AFTER you cleared port security. That is a clue. I've never seen that when cruising out of Dover (or Southampton).
  14. It didn't contain my passport, but one time I gave my bag to a porter for the wrong ship. How they didn't notice the Carnival tag is a who knows. It did take a supervisor or two, but they did locate my bag and a porter for the correct ship hoofed the bag on down in time for sail away.
  15. My bad. Someone else seems confused between promotions and policy.
  16. I did not, but assume they are still free. The rooms are still there. The spa tub was removed.
  17. I was able to bring on anything at embarkation. After that, it was beer and wine only. Limoncello is not wine - you might get lucky or not.
  18. I still don't recall. You must get special promos. In any event, promotions come and go. It is basic marketing. Princess is a business and when ROI on promotions isn't there. the promotion ends. Be thankful that you got to take advantage of one.
  19. Almost every ship has had issues from time to time. Earlier this year Spirit has some but they were fixed on the same cruise, as I recall. A friend of a friend of a janitor is pretty far removed from current events. I have a cruise in Spirit coming up and I don't believe any of it.
