  1. some comments for consideration: <I'm guessing a 3 or 4 night out of south florida .. 1) when you put Disney in a comparison with NCL things get difficult FAST as the price difference is HUGE as is the quality of darn near everything. <we stopped sailing NCL several years back .... too nickle and dime> <wife did 3 ladies in a standard room on NCL and the experience resulted in the never again rule!> 2) dunno about others but with RCCL everyone in the cabin must buy the drink pkg, or no one <there are exceptions if you can find a friendly rep but ALL is the rule>. We found the pkg a reasonable deal when it was no more than $50 a day, our last RCCL trip the pkg had gone WAY beyond this making it no great deal vs pay as you go 3) the easy way to keep 'incidentals' accountable if for each of you to attach your OWN credit card to the ship pass and buy your own stuff, This has been possible on everyone of our cruises. <we often pay basic fare for family/guests but tell them booze/excursions etc they are on their own.> 4) No way I'd do 4 adults in a standard room. Can't recall ever having a room that had two queens like a hotel. A basic room 'for 4' on Disney is one big bed sometimes can be split to singles, a fold down sofa (single) and a pull down bunkbed (weight restrictions). On RCCL again a 'big' that's splitable and a fold out couch ... Dau sailed RCCL with total 4 20 somethings. Room was two single lower and two single upper .... you experiences may vary .... unsolicited two cents
  2. well as the flybus page shows a 'private ride' all the way is $$$ 39.900 isk is $291.25 at today's exchange the transfer bus from airport to downtown airport is a big fancy bus with the under storage for the bags. You may want to ride it to the downtown airport then get a taxi. Else, yep it is $$ ... how do you feel about renting a car? Most folks feel Iceland is very easy to drive . .
  3. yes because the international airport is a good hour away. What you want to do is take the FLYBUS to the downtown airport and transfer to a taxi or UBER from there. They may even be running a local bus ... they run a bus route that hits all the major hotels, you just transfer bus at the down town airport. We did a couple of days on our own after a cruise and this is how we got to the airport ....https://www.re.is/tour/flybus/
  4. there are sidewalks so in theory it can be done. it would be around 1.3 miles and if in the summer it would be HOT. you must go around an industrial part of the port. I'm not aware of any 'in the port' shuttle. Taxi/U/L are aware of folks needing terminal to terminal service so getting a ride is not a problem but tipping nice is appreciated <a POSSIBLE exception is if you are on same line for both cruises. I have seen OCCASIONALLY RCCL using T-3 and T-1 is their primary. If this is the case it never hurts to ASK as they often have a crew shuttle between ships which they MIGHT let you one> I'd leave t-1 and go over to GRILLS for a while, the UBER to T-3 later . . .
  5. we've lived in Miami and Cape Canaveral for several years <each> and taken the same 3 or 4 day cruises many times as the cost is small when you live so close to the ports. In our Miami years, the Mrs was 'gifted' cruise tickets so often thru work that the Capt started introducing us on 'crew night'!!!! And if you research Disney you'll see many REPEAT customers .... they don't go that many places ... suggesting a 'repeat'
  6. the Home2 you mention <on Kennedy near Channel District> would be about 1/2 mile from the Columbia Cafe and along a corridor that is not exactly a popular tourist street. Uber might be a better idea. If using a ride - and in the summer a half mile in HEAT is not fun - you may want to consider the FULL original Columbia in Ybor city. The Cafe has only a portion of the menu of the 'original' ... check the web site. For the original you really want a reservation btw https://www.columbiarestaurant.com/ The full rest' is a mile away. Alternately if using a ride anywho .... one of the best steak houses in the US and the rest' with possibly the largest wine collection is in Tampa. Bern's https://bernssteakhouse.com/ more than just a meal you can have a night of entertainment .. tour the kitchen and the on site wine cellar and after dinner move to the completely separate dessert room ....... <about 2.5 miles> again reservation is a must.
  7. there are several newer properties just outside the port near the end of SR-528 many will head to the beach area however if you have time to enjoy the beach. In which case you want to look at Cocoa Beach area ... just a few minutes down the road. I'd recommend you UBER to one of the rest' in the port. Grills, Fishlips, Rusty's ..... there are several ... short ride
  8. RCCL uses various terminals at PC ..... each terminal is a bit unique in its layout. UBER here is not really a question that can be answered .... take today for example. You have RCCL at 1 AND 5 ... in my experience each terminal has signs directing you to shuttle, taxi, rideshare and private pickup areas . .
  9. we did Golden Circle, booked on our own. One suggestion: All Golden Circle tours are NOT alike and I'd imagine same applies to the south coast tours. You need to look at the particulars of what's included in the one you pick. For example the GC we booked included a stop at Secret Lagoon - a thermal bath and admission to the bath (with towel) was included in the price. And we were on a 'small group' tour, a half size bus seating a dozen and not a full size tour bus. Read the details ... there are differences .....
  10. you really don't have much time to kill. Drag you feet and be close to last off the ship ...0900. Hour to the airport. 1000 MCO says be there 2 hours early (and I always do this) equals 1:30pm. So you have 3 1/2 hours ..... going anywhere off site means at LEAST 30 minutes each way leaving 2 1/2 hours ..... the airport hotel rents day rooms ....
  11. Also, one of the attractions (?) requires bus/shuttle and the latest is at 3PM and if you miss you are out of luck. the bus tour is fully 50% of the KSC visitor center experience ..... you don't want to miss this part. The bus tour is the only way to get to Saturn 5 rocket and moon landing stuff.
  12. https://www.parkportcanaveral.com/ https://parkncruiseportcanaveral.com/ https://portparkingspace.com/ https://portcanaveralparking.com/book-your-cruise-parking/
  13. unlike many other cruise ports, Port Canaveral is in a small town. YES we have UBER drivers .... not as many as ports like Miami where the port is in a 'big' city. I suggest going to the port web site and looking at how many ships will be turning around on 'your day' .... This makes a BIG difference https://www.portcanaveral.com/Cruise/Cruise-Lines-Schedules
  14. office for National/Alamo/Enterprise is 'in the port' but in the case of DCL, the office and the pier are on opposite sides of a draw bridge which does not allow foot traffic (no sidewalk) so a ride is required. It would be walkable from Terminals 1 or 3 (a bit long from 3)
  15. here's a left field hint. Load the MarineTraffic app on your phone. MarineTraffic gathers ship AIS positions and displays a real time map. You can enter your boat's name and if it is reporting to the AIS system, it gets displayed - and legally it should be reporting and major ports are covered. You can play with the website b4 marinetraffic.com. For example look who's at Reyk' cruise terminal right now.
  16. last trip, we flew in and were boarding Viking Ocean .. stayed at Radisson Blu which is walking distance to the terminal VO uses and on the west end of the main tourist water front. VO was clearly using their hotel as one of their 'pre and post extension' locations. The last stop for the shuttle from the airport is at the front door! On an earlier visit, post cruise we used Bergen Harbor Hotel which is near the funicular station and the fish market .... https://bergenharbourhotel.no/hotellet/ ... much smaller then Rad'
  17. last July they used a room at HARPA as the waiting area ...... about 2.2 miles from the pier ....
  18. check places in Titusville especially the area around the intersection of 50 and I-95 ... you'd be about 30 minutes from the port. There are several 'basic' hotels <chain> and several chain places to eat. Even ALDI and WALMART to pick up supplies.
  19. there are ground lots near every terminal for oversize vehicle parking. But PC is also blessed with a number of lower cost off site lots and they might save you $ (unlike many ports, PC is not downtown of a big city so land is <today> cheap and a parking lot is affordable as a business) Park n Cruise Park Port Canaveral others .... not sure of their oversize vehicle rules but they all have web sites . . .
  20. near Fishlips are several other eatin' places in the port .... and several more on A1A just outside the port. I like Grills ... being SO close to a ship can be cool since you'll have a car, this one is a lil newer and a bit west of the port on the barge canal .... https://dolphinsgrill.com/menu/
  21. we stopped sailing NCL years ago ..... we looked beyond ...... NCL is OK for introduction to cruising but there is SO MUCH MORE available ...... today VIKING is our choice and have a Rhine river booked for the fall and a Med for next summer . .
  22. Are there gas stations close to the car rental agencies at Port Canaveral? yes google maps is your friend 'best' is subjective AND depends on agency ......
  23. fortune telling????? a lot can change 'tween then and now but one thing is for sure ... they can't be at the same place on the same day. I have no personal experience but pier to pier transfers are FAR from unusual ...... TIP NICE for the short ride.
