  3. Hello @Vacationtime3 Thank you for your first new thread on the Ask a Cruise Question forum! However, it is the forum for general questions regarding cruising. Your inquiry concerns parking in a specific departure port and is off topic there. To help you out I have moved your new thread to the North American Homeports - East Coast Departures forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have parked there frequent this forum and provide feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. 4. I live in an appartement community for seniors. We residents say the only way you leave here is moving in with one of your kids, into an assisted living or nursing home, or in a hearse going to the funeral home. So often when we have lost a resident in one of those ways, their kids fill our dumpsters to the brim with all their parent's "stuff" & "junk" including furniture, kitchenware, etc. It is so sad, but it seems so many of today's kids do not want to deal with their parent's belongings. It also seems no one is at least trying to recycle before it all gets dumped into the dumpsters.

  7. Hello @S.A.M.J.R. In case you do not know, you can watch the cruise ships depart from Galveston on turnaround days. On non-turnaround days, the following cameras are on patrol. The volunteer cam mods work hard in capturing the ships and passengers waving from starboard side using the following webcams on turnaround days: GALVESTON.COM: Cruise Video Cam - Galveston, TX GALVESTON.COM: Emerald Video Cam - Galveston, TX GALVESTON.COM: Marina Video Cam - Galveston, TX And anytime you want to check in on what is going on the Strand: GALVESTON.COM: Strand Video Cam - Galveston, TX With that one, viewers can move the camera to various locations as per the following clip: And here is where you can find all the webcams located in various locations on Galveston Island: GALVESTON.COM: Webcams - Galveston, TX And sorry, there is no sound on any of the webcams. However, everyone can see the online webcam chat going on by the "regulars" watching most turnaround days. Just click Webcam Chat on the following clip of what is under the cam feed: As I type this, a Carnival ship just left for a cruise and is being shown on the Cruise Webcam and then the Emerald Webcam. Also, the Marina Webcam is showing the staging area for the workers dealing with the recent damage to the Pelican Island Causeway bridge. The big blue building in the background is the RCCL terminal. Hope this will be helpful as you do not have to drive to the island to see cruise ships. But of course, I know how it is much better in person!! And especially if one is going to be leaving on a cruise from there soon!! Host Kat
  8. Hello @LLCoolDoc To help you out, your new thread has been moved to the correct forum where it will be on topic. Happy sails, Host Kat

  11. Hello @JohnGc First of all, all Cruise Critic members must be logged in to be able to post on any of the Cruise Critic Roll Calls. Without being logged in, a member can only read the Roll Calls and cannot post. If you want to address a particular post already in the Roll Call thread, you need to use the Quote feature on that post as I did yours above. That way all will be aware of what your post concerns since both the quote and your message will appear in a post. Click the Quote function on the post you want to address. When the Message Reply box opens, the quote appears in a box at the top. You type your message UNDER the quote box. When done with your message, click the dark blue Submit Reply button. If the member you quoted has used the Follow feature on the thread, they will get a notification that you have replied to their post. I suggest you use the Follow feature on any new threads you start or any other threads or forums where you are interested in the new replies. That way you will also not have to go looking to see if there are new posts because they will come l👀king for you as notifications! If you need information on how to do it, please click here: How to: Follow Topics & Forums (Subscribed Threads/Forums Info) But first before you Follow a thread or forum, be sure your Cruise Critic email address is current and valid. If not, click here: How To: Update your Cruise Critic Email Address For more information about Quotes & Multi-Quotes, please click here: How to: Reply to a Topic / Quote / Multi-Quote. It is one of the many pinned threads toward the top of the first page of this forum. Hope this will be helpful! Happy sails, Host Kat
  12. Just a friendly reminder to all reading the boards... Please remember, since Cruise Critic does not review messages before they are posted and cannot read through the thousands of messages posted each day, we depend on all our fellow Cruise Critic members for help. As stated in the Guidelines, "We encourage you to utilize the reporting system built into the board system; you'll find a Report a Post icon located in the upper right hand corner of the posting. Use it! We will review the report and take appropriate action." If you see any posts or threads on any Cruise Critic message board forums that are off topic, on the wrong forum, violate the Guidelines or contain blatant incorrect information, then just click the ellipsis (the three dots next to the post number) for options. A list will appear. Click Report so the Report post screen will open. If it is a whole thread that needs to be reported, click the ellipsis on the first post in the thread for the Report post screen to open. You will see a list for Why do you want to report this? If your reason is one of the reasons listed, click the radio button next to the reason. If it is not listed, just type your message about the problem post or thread into the Report post text box where it says, "Optionally enter a message with your report." When done with your message, click Submit Report. Your part is done at that point. Please do not quote or reply to the reported post or thread. Your quote or reply post as well as any other posts or quotes concerning the reported post will be removed from sight along with the reported post. A User Reported Content list of reports is generated for review to all Hosts and Administrators. The reports will automatically show the important information they MUST have such as the forum name, thread title or specific post in addition to your message. The Hosts or Administrators will review your Report post report when they can. I say "when they can" because all e-mails and Report post reports to Cruise Critic are answered in order of receipt. With almost two million members and some sending e-mails and reports 24/7 from all over the world, please be patient for any action. Also, please remember the Hosts are non-paid volunteers that work the boards when their real life permits. Most paid Administrators work regular weekday business hours and do have holiday, vacation and sick days. I hope this information will be helpful if anyone feels a post or thread needs to be brought to our attention. Happy sails, Host Kat
  13. Hello @kelkel2 You might want to research the Ports of Call - New Orleans forum. That forum may have some hotel information too. Happy sails, Host Kat

  15. Hello @Kally Elizabeth If the someone is using your device, you will need to log off from your Cruise Critic account. Then they go to www.cruisecritic.com. Click Boards in the top white bar. Then on the next page to appear, click Log In located in the top blue bar. They will see the following pop up: They click Create an account and proceed to set up their account. They cannot use your Cruise Critic email address of record as they must have their own different email to be their Cruise Critic email address of record. Once they have completed the set-up, they will be sent an email to their Cruise Critic email of record. IIRC, they then click something to verify they have received the email at a valid Cruise Critic email address of record and can then proceed as a new member. If you are sharing a device and IIRC, it can get complicated in that you both cannot be logged in to Cruise Critic at the same time. Hope this helps! Host Kat

  19. Thank you @Host Jazzbeau for moving the post to the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum where it is on topic. Hello @Maggie 1008 and welcome back to the Cruise Critic message boards! I see it has been quite a while since you have been posting on the boards. There was a board software change from vBulletin to Invision Community in October 2018 and numerous tweaks to the new software since then. Also, new servers in May 2019 as well as the archiving of some old, old threads & posts. Perhaps some of the changes may have something to do with your situation since your last old post was in April 2012. Please email help@cruisecritic.com from your current Cruise Critic email address of record and mention your user name. This is so your membership can be verified, and reply sent to your current Cruise Critic email address of record. I suggest you mention any other Cruise Critic user name accounts you may have had in the past as well as all your previous Cruise Critic email addresses of record. If possible, please include any screen shots that may be helpful so your situation can be investigated. I also suggest you use the Follow feature on any new threads you start or any other threads or forums where you are interested in the new replies. 20. Hello @Haiboi and welcome to Cruise Critic and the message boards! To help you out, your first new topic has been moved to the Transatlantic, Transpacific, Repositioning & Trans-Ocean Cruises forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have sailed those type of cruises frequent this forum and provide feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that will be of interest to you. You will also want to research the Norwegian Cruise Line forum. The Cruise Critic website and message boards are both great resources for new as well as experienced cruisers, and we are so glad you are posting! Please feel free to browse the Cruise Critic Community categories list for the various message board forums. I suggest you Bookmark the page or put it in your Favorites for quick and easy access in the future. Please read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in most forums. You will find very important instructions or information there. Please remember the following portion from the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships: Browse Before You Post Browse a topic first to see if your question has already been asked or answered by someone else. Also, many of the major cruise lines forums have a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) topic that has been created by our members. Give that a try first. Browsing is your #1 best resource! Please post your messages in an appropriate topic so that you'll receive the best possible response. It is very time consuming to move misplaced messages that are in the wrong topics. Anytime you need to start a new thread on a forum, first make sure you are in the correct forum for your topic. Word your new thread title in a way to help the members know exactly the information you seek. This greatly helps the members browsing through the thread titles and if they know the information, they will post a reply to you. Also, it is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic such as one cruise line, one ship, one port of call, etc. and of course, on the correct forum. You will get more replies that way. Be sure to mention your cruise line, ship, sail date or port in your message if that sort of information will help your fellow Cruise Critic members answer you. Once you book your cruise, you need to find and post on the Cruise Critic Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship and sail date. That is where you will find fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you! Please read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and How To: Create A New Roll Call. For more information about our famous Roll Calls, please read the Roll Calls and Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls sections in the Guidelines. We also have the following Cruise Critic article you might enjoy: 8 Reasons to Join a Cruise Critic Roll Call The specific Cruise Critic Roll Call thread for your ship, line, and sail date is the ONLY place on the Cruise Critic message boards where you and your fellow Roll Call thread members are allowed to post personal ads about sharing private tours, excursions or transportation with each other to save money. There is a "captive audience" there since you are all sailing together! Your fellow Roll Call thread members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread. Especially those that may have sailed your line, ship or itinerary before. Also, they may have already posted share requests that may interest you. Roll Calls are for Cruise Critic members on the same cruise. They get to know one another before their cruise so there will be all kinds of discussion in the Roll Call thread for their cruise! Once you locate the Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship and sail date if one is already created, first read through the whole thread to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you. Then use the dark blue Reply to this topic button to join the Roll Call by posting an introductory post about yourself on the Roll Call thread. When done with your message, click the dark blue Submit Reply button. If you want to address a particular post already in the thread, be sure to use the Quote feature on that post as I did yours above. That way all will be aware of what your post concerns. You type your message UNDER the light blue quote box then click the dark blue Submit Reply button. If the member you quoted has used the Follow feature on the thread, they will get a notification that you have replied to their post. If a Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship & sail date has NOT been created, please feel free to create it! Just follow the directions in How To: Create A New Roll Call. Please make sure you use the complete alpha date format for the sail date in the Roll Call thread title. Example: January 01, 2024 Then sit back and wait for your fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you to join in by posting on the thread. They will appreciate you starting the Roll Call! And don't worry about any responsibilities in starting a Roll Call thread. Roll Calls belong to everyone; there is no designated leader or owner. It does not matter who started the thread. If you ever need technical help in regard to using the Cruise Critic message board software, go to the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum. You will see a large amount of "How to..." pinned threads toward the top of the forum's first page. Also, browse through the threads in the forum looking for threads of interest. Again, you may find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you. So sorry this is so long, but I sincerely hope this will be helpful to someone new to posting on our message boards. We are glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! Happy sails, Host Kat
  21. @Kellie in Texas Your new thread has been moved & merged into the existing thread on the Gulf Coast Departures forum. When this now merged thread started, the Cruise Cam was on the Pelican Island Causeway Bridge. As I type this post, the volunteer cam mods have put the Cruise Cam back on patrol since this is not a turnaround day for Carnival or RCCL. They have the GALVESTON.COM: Emerald Video Cam - Galveston, TX pointed to the Pelican Island Causeway Bridge now. However, not a lot of daylight left today as sunset is at about 8:00 pm CDT. Here is another link for anyone interested: Oil Spill After Barge Hits Bridge | Weather.com
  22. FYI to all, Closing this thread due to new thread: Error Message EX0
  23. No, it shouldn't. At this time, the Cruise Cam is showing the bridge & what's going on. GALVESTON.COM: Cruise Video Cam - Galveston, TX Edited to add: Check out the posts on the Webcam Chat. It is under the cam video on the left.
  24. @Lois R I cannot do anything about it. The non-paid volunteer Hosts/Moderators do not have the ability to "see what is going on". As stated in the Guidelines: "... They generally have the ability to move and delete posts & threads, and perform other simple actions..." Contacting help@cruisecritic.com is all I can say at this time which you have done. They work with the IT team, Please note most paid Administrators work normal business hours Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00 and do have vacation/sick days.
  25. @Shmoo here Appears to be just one of those glitches. It was same on other boards too. All appears to be well now. However, if you still want more info, send an email to help@cruisecritic.com from your Cruise Critic email address of record. Be sure to mention your user name. This is so your membership can be verified, and reply sent to your current Cruise Critic email address of record. If your current Cruise Critic email address of record is not correct and needs to be updated before you send your email, please click the following: How To: Update your Cruise Critic Email Address
