The koningsdam is a hot mess. In November I mentioned the line ups for the dining room to basically be told it wasn't true. I can't believe they ran out of dessert. How much are people eating?

So I asked crew news (aka Roger Jett) about this as he is on a cruise right now. He is getting conflicting info. One manager says non alcoholic doesn’t count in the elite, the other one says it does 🙄. If people upgrade be very specific before you do as I suspect both packages count making the elite worthless. You are better off the pay the difference.

Oh yes, the night auditor. Some on this board say there is not a non alcohol limit with such conviction it's quite funny. I appreciate your efforts on this.

I’ve had no luck with the tip the chair or napkin method. I got told by a steward not to tip the chair because it causes problems for the table behind it. Tried the napkin and when I got back to the table someone had taken my table. She claimed not to know what the napkin meant. In both cases there were several empty tables around. I like the idea of having the signs.

I was very worried flying home last year on the Saturday right after the US thanksgiving. They kept going on and on about how busy airports would be on TV. It was the most dead I've ever seen it (San Diego).

Exactly. I have to try to squeeze my time in between the 2nd and 3rd week of the month. I tire of people that have been retired for decades and decades making remarks about when people should and shouldn't take time off to avoid certain holidays. Kind of impossible.

Can you ask if you upgrade to the elite drink package if it’s 15 alcohol drinks and unlimited other? I don’t care myself but it seems that there was discussion about this not being true. I understand you only pay the difference for drinks over $11 in the signature package. I’m just wondering about the validity of the information for the elite package. Thanks.

I agree. I’ve got too much junk already so I leave them. I debated about taking the club orange bag home with me because they are nice but I have 3 already so I left it.

Yes I’m well aware what it says. Hal has been known to have mistakes just as I mentioned in my last post. Both of the items you posts are from hal. There have been previous discussions on this board to say it’s not true. I’d like to hear real world experience. It’s not something I need because I’ve never reached my 15 limit in one day for the signature package even when one of the bartenders put aside 6 sparkling waters for me one day.

My pictures are pretty much identical. Did you notice many around you not having to get their pictures taken again? I just wouldn’t stress about doing it personally and I stress about everything!

That’s the issue. You have people on here just saying show up whenever. I’m a rule follower so I generally do as I’m told. Usually I do get assigned the first boarding but I booked this much later than I usually do, about 7 weeks out. I took the upsell within a week of sailing so I wonder if that all played into a late boarding.

I don’t understand what difference loading your picture to navigator could possibly make. The one time I did it it made zero difference and they ended up taking a new one.

Yes I get there are separate lines once you get there. If your boarding time is 12:40 and you get there at 12:40 you won’t be on at 11.

They are on the signature, not sure about elite. There seemed to be confusion on the elite. I’ve never heard for sure because reality seemed different than Hal’s info. Since you can pay only the difference I see very little reason to buy the elite.

Isn’t that cruise usually offered in November or December? Plenty of time for it to sell out. It’s only may.

I’ve seen several people say they are drying up. I don’t get them from hal so I have no idea.

When I boarded in San Diego they let way too many people up at once and there was no place for people to go. Some we’re getting knocked down like bowling pins getting or trying to get off the escalator.The people that worked there didn’t seem to care.

Are they in the first boarding group? While not in Vancouver I had a Neptune suite plus I’m a 5 star and I was in group F 12:40 on my last cruise less than a month ago.

I haven’t been thrilled with my last couple cruises on the koningsdam but I always thought the food was really good and hot as well. Happy to hear the internet is quite good. It sucked in November. I wish hal would get it going on the other ships sooner than later. Thanks for the review.

You would only pay the difference. If the drink it $12 you pay $1 plus the 18% gratuity. This changed around 6 months ago, give or take. The only conflicting info is people that haven't been on a ship for 6+ months or don't have a package.
