  1. Ok now I got it. Pretty much everywhere I dock is an industrial container port. Rare to be in the center of town.
  2. That’s not good about Aruba. I hope that isn’t what is in the future. I’ve always been right in the downtown area. I personally love to travel alone. I was married for a number of years and felt more alone then. I never would have travelled as much as I have. I’ve taken to limiting interaction with others as much as possible because some people ask inappropriate questions. I would love to travel in South America but the flights would kill me for sure. Thank you for the review. I always appreciate hearing what you have to say because I find you very balanced. Congratulations n the retirement.
  3. They for sure do that. When I go to the MDR I refuse to be brought into traditional. Its been my personal experience that you will be completely ignored because you are arriving at an "odd" time. I've sat there waiting for a menu for a very long time and I'm not going to do that. This happened when I used to go to the mdr a lot.
  4. I notice lately hal seems to be charging a good chunk of money extra to pick your room (in the cruises I've looked at). It didn't used to be that way. Its a way to make extra $ I guess.
  5. Is the assigned dining at 5:45? Its been a long time since I've seen that. Maybe it's the class of ship. I've seen 5:00 and 5:15 for times. Please don't just show up in open dining. Its not fair to the people that have picked that option just as it would not be fair to you for someone to take your table just as the dining was opening (I'm not talking later on). I would also not show a half hour late. That is not fair to the crew that works so hard.
  6. Here is the lido menu listed in navigator for my next cruise (for today). It sounds like homestead is the only place for anything not pre prepped (not talking asian or pasta) and that is only steak. If they had a variety it seems odd not to list it. lido_dinner_2.pdf
  7. Thanks. I've for sure seen the distant lands except they never used to make it individually. You had a daily selection and that was it. Its been a few years though, because I get my fill at the tamarind. I've just never noticed any fresh grilled items. I'd be tempted to do that after my long shore ex but no other time.
  8. Any idea what the station is called like homestead etc?
  9. I could see the appeal in that where people aren’t fondling plates, sneezing and coughing over everything, eating food that has been sitting and fighting for a table.
  10. Ok thanks. I didn’t think anything was freshly grilled just in a big tray as it is at lunch. Nothing fresh about that. I can tell you I’ve had freshly cooked salmon in the dining room at lunch on salad and as a sub for the daily fish. It tastes way better than lido fish. Whatever works.
  11. On my November 2022 they didn’t want to get me a second price reduction before final on a refundable fare. It was a fairly big drop and I said I could cancel the whole thing. I had nothing to lose at that point. I have a similar problem for a cruise this fall. It dropped previously but I would have lost more obc than I gained money wise. Now it’s gone down more so I have an email into my pcc. I’ve got everything to lose this time if I’d have to cancel. My air has doubled and it wasn’t cheap to begin with. Club orange was almost fully booked in January when I booked so I may be stuck with the higher price.
  12. Not on my last cruise 😛. I watched them one day and they were getting food literally for hours around noon. All the cabanas were rented out but it never seemed to be that full. They certainly weren’t as efficient as they were on the koningsdam. If I could get my own ice that would be great. Used to be cold towels, saw that one day after I asked. Love an Arnold parlmer saw that one day only. It’s pretty much impossible to get small things.
  13. Ok thank you. It didn’t come across that way to me so thanks for the clarification. We all pay plenty for the hia and it’s super annoying to have to go without or hunt things down. It you don’t have it then sub in the more expensive. Doesn’t sound like hal is doing that.
  14. You’ll be absolutely fine. I used to bring a long dress. After that, it was a chiffon “blazer”. I still bring something a little dressy but not like I have. I’m willing to bet people won’t be that dressy in there. Enjoy your meal. I really like Canaletto a lot.
  15. What is the point of a comment like this? It was a concise, well thought out answer. I guess it’s not cheerleading that’s the issue.
  16. As long as he has long pants it’s no problem whatsoever. I’m not even sure if they enforce the no shorts anymore.
  17. Ok good, it’s not just me. While I haven’t eaten up there at night I’ve spent a lot of time in Canaletto so I’ve walked through there plenty. I’ve not seen anything like that. I’d rather have a snack at the Dutch cafe than eat something out of a tray, or phone for room service. Then I can eat on the balcony.
  18. That Peruvian chicken in club orange on the koningsdam was very good.
  19. I see very few people dressing for dinner anymore. I think you said you got something from a “fresh grill”. Can you explain what station this is at? I have a very, very long excursion on my next cruise and if you can actually get something that is grilled just that minute I may do this. I’ve only seen things come from big trays in the lido so I’m curious where this could be.
  20. I’m not disparaging anyone. Don’t put words into my mouth.
  21. Same. That said I'm usually eating in specialty. I'm still trying to figure out what a fresh grill is. I've read many, many lido menus and none of them sound like they are grilling on the spot. I'd love to see chicken cooked in a few minutes.
  22. Please do tell. I’ve spent over 500 days with my butt in a bed and I have no idea. I’ve seen a box sitting on a desk where you can insert a note but not an office on any of the newer ships. Thanks.
  23. I'm just a bit on the cheap side and i just never go out for that pricy of a meal where I live. I also don't like "fancy" food that much so that is lost on me. I know people love the celler master dinners too. It's just nothing I enjoy.
  24. The bisque is definitely worthwhile. The other items are not yo.my taste so I can't speak to that.
