  1. That's great news! It was terrible when I was on the koningsdam in November. I remember the by the minute. I was just saying that recently to a crew member. It sucked. Enjoy yhe last bit of your cruise.
  2. I really continue to love canaletto but I stick to the same few items. I get the tomato seafood soup. It's yummy and boiling hot. I either get osso bucco or veggie risotto, both are excellent snd always chocolate tart for dessert.
  3. Good hopefully it's gone. It was wasted space to me. You could blend your own wine there. It seemed seldom used. Are you still on the ship? Friends are on that cruise and they are not home yet. Reason I ask is because the internet must be way better now with starlink.
  4. It’s close to $80 cdn total. For me it’s getting to be a little more than it’s worth.
  5. I don’t love the new desserts in the tamarind. I got to talking with the server about how much I loved the tamarind chocolate. Out of the blue she asked if I would like to have it on my next visit. Yes, I’d love it. She put one down on the table and said to me wait there is more and put another one down ❤️. I took it back to my room for the next night. I thought it was so kind.
  6. Mine it there too! Thanks so much for the heads up. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there on Friday as well. Ouch, looks like sel de mer has had a pretty good price increase but maybe I just am not remembering correctly.
  7. I think you are lucky then although I know people will argue with that. Fish, in particular, tastes so much better to me in the mdr. It always tastes “soggy” in the lido. When they have 50 pieces of fish sitting in a tray in the lido I’m willing to bet the mdr fish isn’t sitting in a pile like that.
  8. It’s a fair bit of food so you may not want one. I wouldn’t describe myself as a small eater and I eat pretty healthy during the day with no snacking. I really feel like tamarind is the only place that I need a second appetizer so I hope hal doesn’t continue down this road. Without a doubt sel de mer is my favourite although I didn’t always feel that way. I would go for fresh items rather than a bunch of fried items.
  9. But Gus recently said hal pays more than any other line on entertainment 🤪😛🤣. I believe the number was 25 percent more but I’m relying on my memory which is most likely wrong.
  10. I have to ask and you certainly don’t have to tell me but were the 6 bags for two people? I’m a reformed over packer but I take full advantage of my 50 lbs. I hear people say we only use a carry on for travel and I always think why would you want to though (not looking for reasons for people that do).
  11. Fair enough. I did find the mdr really fast on my recent cruise. I was in and out in an hour. That said I won't share a table anymore so that speeds things un tremendously. The first night is horrendous no matter what.
  12. Thanks. Koningsdam has been known to try different things in the cabana area.
  13. I think that is the way it started out was with a separate section so I wouldn't be super surprised to see it happen on some ships.
  14. I'd sure hate to try that but I'm a rule follower. I guess these people were smoking then eating a ton of food and leaving a huge mess for the stewards the next day after they left it clean the night before. Thanks for the answer.
  15. I chose to eat alone of my cruise but are you saying there was an actual section of the dining room for Club Orange? I always had heard you were just sprinkled in with other guests at the same table.
  16. Would there be ways to check for people bringing pot onboard? Someone on my last cruise said there was people smoking weed in the cabanas after hours. I find it hard to believe you could get it on the ship but I'm not about to test that 😉.
  17. @OlsSaltthis cruise left from Vancouver. to the op it sounds like you were assigned one person in the cabana. Usually its a group of guys. I'd love to be assigned just one. Hopefully it's not one that is getting every morsel of food for everyone. I'm very low maintenance. I never ask them to get me food. I just want my water iced which rarely happens because they spend hours and hours fetching food.
  18. I'm pretty sure you'll like it. I just think your expectations need to be realistic, and I feel yours are.
  19. Absolutely it is. I dined in the mdr twice on my recent cruise. I was in and out within an hour but the chaos in there is too much for me. Expecting Blu out of club orange is going to be a letdown as pleasant as it is.
  20. Club orange is nothing like Blu. Blu has a totally different menu than the mdr. Club orange only has one different entree. The service is better in club orange. That’s the only similarity to Blu.
  21. I’m not a garden person but the butchart gardens are so beautiful. I never tire of the place.
  22. I’m pretty sure all the dinners were cooked in there. One night I had the halibut which was on the “normal” menu. It was awesome and I said so. I’ve had the halibut in the pinnacle a few times and have been disappointed. I told the club orange manager and he brought the chef over to my table so she could hear the compliment. It was a small piece of fish so it definitely takes talent. The food was very good in club orange. I don’t think I saw the special in my app either but that was a while ago.
  23. On the koningsdam in club orange there was one dude in his jammies complete with slippers. It’s too hard to change footwear. Lots of people in jammies on that cruise. Thankfully no one like that on my recent cruise.
  24. I don’t know why anyone chooses buffet over service, it boggles my mind. There is no way you’ll get me in there at breakfast. There is getting to be too much self serve lately for my taste. On my recent cruise I saw I lady pick up a plate and fondle it for a while then put it back in the pile. How can anyone possibly not see that is wrong? I immediately told the server who had trouble understanding my point but I made sure she removed the offending plate and the one under it. I’m sure that’s the most tame thing that happens in there 🤮.
