  1. Brilliance of the Seas sails out of Tampa which is little larger tonnage wise as the Vista Class ships like the Zuiderdam but it's the height that comes into play. My guess is the Zuiderdam could sail under the Sunshine Skyway bridge. We sailed on the Veendam twice and the Rhapsody of the Seas once out of TB, I wish there were more ships based there but since the pandemic it seems like slim pickings.
  2. We always give 10s but they shouldn't be soliciting good reviews, leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Same with going out to restaurants and they have suggestive tips on the bill, we were at a place last night that had 20, 25 and 30% for the suggestive tips which I thought was a bit much, this was not a fancy fine dining establishment, it was a franchise place with decent service, 99% of the time we leave 20% which we feel is a pretty good tip. We also give our waiters and cabin stewards on the ships cash gratuities in addition to the automatic gratuities that are posted your cruise account.
  3. We will continue to do what we have for 30 years living in Florida, we have no problem with arriving early and if we have to wait outside until our designated time, that's fine, we aren't going to melt.
  4. We froze also on our recent NA cruise, my guess is that HAL is keeping the ships cold to kill off Covid and Flu germs.
  5. We usually arrive early because we live in Florida and have a 2.5 hour drive to Port Everglades and like to give ourselves some time for accident delays or a flat tire. We have never had a problem boarding the ship before our designated boarding time with any of the lines.
  6. They might go to a 3,000 passenger ship. We have sailed on Celebrity’s Equinox 4 times and at a capacity of 2,900 have never found the ship teeming with people or overcrowded. We have also sailed with the large Princess ships like the Royal and Regal and things were not overcrowded on those ships either but I still prefer the Signature class ships with HAL.
  7. We saw the piano and scratched our heads as is to why no one played it the whole week we sailed which was from Dec 4-11. Maybe an illness but we were on the Rotterdam in April and there was no live music in the Ocean Bar on that cruise either. Bottom line is that HAL has cut back on too many things and we just don't care to sail with them anymore.
  8. We've sailed on the Equinox 4 times, 2 right before the pandemic and 2 this past summer, all 4 were great cruises with excellent food, service and entertainment. The Equinox is a beautiful ship and we are sailing on her sister, the Relection on April 2nd.
  9. If you like what my DW calls angry dancing with ear shattering canned music, we were on the Dec 4th sailing and we walked out on 2 of the shows. Shame on HAL for not having live music in the showroom except one night when they borrowed the group from Lincoln Center. No live music in the beautiful Ocean Bar is a crime. Food was only fair with small portions. As 4 Star Mariners we were extremely unhappy with our Dec 4 cruise on the NA, probably our last cruise with HAL, we will stay with Celebrity. We did receive our tiles along with a total of 4 mints for the week. Glad you enjoyed your cruise.
  10. The last few years we've gone with Country Club Casual which is good enough for just about any night these days. We just came home from a cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam and I only saw a few sport coats. I also saw diners having dinner with baseball caps on but I also saw those in shorts denied entry in the MDR.
  11. Ours too, food and entertainment was the worst of our 24 HAL cruises, service was great and the ship was beautiful, clean and in great shape.
  12. A couple of times we were offered an upsell and the rates were higher than the brochure rates.
  13. Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida. Nice day again here with sunny skies and a high of 83. Good selection of days and I like the quote. Argentina made it to the World Cup final game with their win over Croatia yesterday and will meet the winner of today's Morocco-France match. Wasn't able to find out yesterday about our 120 dollar charge after our NA cruise, could not talk to a live person in Customer Relations, we are very unhappy with HAL right now and have probably cruised with them for the last time. Off to the golf course in a few minutes. Thanks for The Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day.
  14. Last week we woke up one morning and our account showed my DW and I with 130 dollars each with additional onboard credits, being the honest guy I am, I headed down to Guest Relations and asked why we received these credits, after 10 minutes and a few calls they were able to conclude that it was an accounting error and we lost the credits. I'm sure that 120 dollar charge we incurred after leaving the ship was an error also. I wasn't able to talk to a live person yesterday so this is still in limbo. I'm calling our PCC later on today after golf.
  15. Yep, HAL needs to get their act together, are they going to go out of business if you get a second appetizer.
  16. Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida. You gotta love hot cocoa, we've been to beautiful St. Lucia a few times but why is there a national holiday for the island. Interesting quote by Poe and I'm sure most of us have experienced love like that. The meal sounds good. We are not happy with HAL right now, I was paying some bills last night and my credit card statement had a charge for 120 dollars from HAL that was posted after we left the ship Sunday morning, after a so-so cruise this is something I don't need as I'm going to spend some time on the phone today with HAL trying to find out what the charge was for. Thanks for the Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day
  17. Great photos which bring back some wonderful memories. I'm Greek Orthodox and our church is very upset that the president of Turkey decided to turn Hagia Sophia back into a mosque after being a museum for many decades, shame on him.
  18. Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida. Cool morning, it will sunny with a high of 79 later in the day. Some strange days but a funny quote by Twain. I'd try the meal. We've been to Instanbul and spent 3 days there at the start of a Greek Islands cruise in 1999, fascinating city. We returned yesterday from our Nieuw Amsterdam cruise, I posted a review late yesterday afternoon on The Daily, it was far from the best cruise we've ever had as explained in the review. Off to the golf course in a few minutes. Thanks for The Daily, everyone stay well and have a great day.
  19. It's insane to charge 4.50 for a bottle of water, I bring a 24 ounce bubba thermos and I fill it up at breakfast and again at lunch in the Lido, along with the water I drink at breakfast, lunch and dinner I'm able to get at least my 72 ounces of a water a day.
