  1. Thanks to everyone, we disembarked and got a porter right away who took us to the taxi line (probably only 20 people in it at that point)!, but got us right into one. Taxi had no problems getting to Logan, AA had curbside checkin. In our seats at the gate by 9!!! Fastest disembarkation ever!
  2. Just off the Zaandam and saw the new 32” TVs being loaded onto the ship!
  3. Yes, it was crowded on our only sea day on the Montreal-Boston cruise. Not sure about evening. Craps, 21, live. Multi-game machines.
  4. Yes. Computers still there to use with your account.
  5. Thank you all…shuttles are sold out right now but we’re hoping they put more on… otherwise we plan to do what another has said…to walk around the corner and get an Uber.
  6. Debarking Aug. 27. Need taxi to airport…what’s latest info on availability? ( yes, I’ve checked the East Coast port section.) Need Uber instead?
  7. Paxlovid is only recommended by physicians to people with high possibility of being admitted to hospital/iCU due to underlying conditions. It is a medication that can have serious side effects for some. Most the people who need it are those who have not been vaccinated. (Husband is MD) We got Covid on this cruise ( after being super careful…no theaters, bars, ate by selves, etc.) and used NyQuil and Tylenol…and cough drops… lots of cough drops.
  8. You lucky bums! Just left Iceland en route back on V of V to find the Reykjavik volcano started erupting again! Darn! Hope you get to see it! Our lecturer (Jon Sigurdsson, the best!) had given a lecture that showed its recent “oozing” which was beautiful. According to news though it’s definitely a larger eruption now. Enjoy!
  9. First of all, things are looser now with “isolation”…you stay in your cabin with your cabin mate. After 6 days if you test negative, you’re done. After 10 days positive with no fever or increase in symptoms and feeling fine, you’re done. Husband and I just finished isolating… him 6 days ( so then he was free to roam around and bring me my cafe mochas!). We’re on a long cruise so missed some sea days no problem…missed two ports we really wanted, but we’ll return. Advice is to bring ALL your own comfort meds…coughs, antihistamine, Tylenol, etc. Cough syrup was not the kind I wanted or would help. For short cruises if you’re concerned, I’d wait. This is our third cruise this year and we were prepared.
  10. In Covid Jail at this time on HAL ship…get out Aug.2 if all well. Both husband and I have it. I’m quite achy today with cough, slight fever, little sore throat. Ship is doing their best to help us. No changing cabins now…or at least not for us. We prepared “just in case” so have plenty of books, tv, movies I’ve downloaded etc. However, I really don’t feel well enough to read right now. This is the third cruise this year for us and first one we got Covid on in spite of always wearing masks (required by captain), eating in out of the way areas, no theater, no bars…none of those are what we do. At 80 and 78 we’re readers. I’m glad we took the chance on this cruise but not sure I’d chance it for a short one where you’d miss too much.
  11. Follow up: Zaandam…Day 1 isolation. DH feels and sounds like just a cold. I’m fine. Only problem we’ll have staff address is the lack of good communication between each other and the cruiser. We had three different opinions of our status yesterday. Finally had the proper one…that we needed to be tested the second time at the 24-hour point after the first (negative) one. (Other opinions were that we needed to be tested in 3 days and had to remain in isolation until then! Another that we should have been tested during the day, but nobody ever came…) Now our 7-day countdown begins. Front desk is delivering the daily Suduko puzzle to my husband ( his morning cruise activity on every cruise.) so he’s happy. I have loaded movies, tv shows, on my iPad, plenty of books on Kindle, years of magazines on ZINIO, and another Outlander audiobook (I think it’s the last) so I’m good! I could probably last a year😁. We’re still on a ship…no cooking, shopping, etc. 👍
  12. Thanks for looking at this! Follow up: husband finally was tested tonight (after a whole day of no communication with anyone!) and was positive so we are in isolation for 7 days. Nice that it’s no longer required to move you to different areas, etc. I will add that we were always masked (ship had required it after day 3) and never went to theater, bars, etc. Stayed in our cabin much of the time (we’re readers!)… we will now always advise folks to bring the test kits as many of you are doing ( yes, they do need to go in carryon) and test yourselves…easier than navigating the overworked medical staff unless you need to. Husband just had mild cold feeling. I’m ok. We’re still cruising!🛳❤️
  13. Ok…a bit of a rant , but we did the right thing (we thought) last night when my husband developed a cough…after hemming and hawing, he felt it would be prudent (he’s an MD) to get a Covid test. Called about 6 (had dinner in the cabin) and eventually they came at 9 and swabbed us. At 11 they called and said we were negative and they’d test us again “in the morning and if that was negative we’d be good to go, but to stay in our cabin until then.” It’s 3:30 and still no new test and husband is feeling better. (Many calls to front desk and medical center.) However….they’ve already canceled our shore excursions for tomorrow!!! I’ve found you are flagged across the system! In retrospect, we should have brought those “free govt test kits” along and done those on our own. I’ve read about folks doing that and now I see why…no need to worry if you’re negative, and if you test positive THeN you’ll call the medical center. just sayin’ that’s what I’d do again…meanwhile, we wait…(and hope we’re negative…about 50 cases on board.)
  14. FYI: the 200 passengers with Covid refers to a ship in Australia! NOT the Zaandam.
  15. Rough seas outside Vancouver Island are why we always cruise from Vancouver and suggest first-time cruisers do the same.
  16. None from room service or anywhere!
  17. Yup…front desk said it was the plastic that caused them to eliminate it…no plastic wrappings if they can help it. So if you’re nauseated from seasickness or Noro or anything else…good luck. No saltines, no graham crackers, nada! Love going green..,😫
  18. On the Zaandam and not a cracker to be had. Rough seas usually saw baskets of crackers and green apples out everywhere on HAL. Not today. I’m not seasick but many, including me, often can stave off seasickness by keeping crackers in our stomachs…so word to the wise…bring your own.
  19. Have to compare not only itineraries but the cabins. HAL cabins are larger than Princess’ overall. I find HAL a bit more expensive but worth it.
  20. Take a photo of your negative result and put it in your Photos on iPhone. (Take a screen shot of it ). In Verifly you should be able to upload it. I’m sorry but I can’t get back into it to help more than that. Otherwise, just print your negative results and bring them along. Some folks say it doesn’t really matter much time wise.
  21. FYI: from AA today Please be advised that the Sumner Tunnel, a major tunnel connecting downtown Boston to Logan Airport, is currently undergoing construction and will be closed during weekends throughout the busy summer travel season. As a result, the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), owner and operator of Logan Airport, is urging passengers to use various HOV modes available when traveling to and from the airport, including MBTA’s Blue Line, Silver Line (free from Logan Airport to downtown Boston) and water ferry service, Logan Express bus service to Framingham, Woburn, Braintree and Peabody at the North Shore Mall, and private bus service. Those coming to the airport by car or renting a car should allow for 1 additional hour of drive time due to expected traffic delays. For more information on transportation options, please click here.
