  1. Keep waiting, but our cruising days are running out…(78,80)…Grand AU 2024 is in a holding position just in case a Grand Med comes up.
  2. You really should use a travel agent that specializes in cruises! They can book you and then keep tabs on availability of a cabin you would prefer and get you booked into that. Do Amsterdam on your own…much more reasonable than through the cruise line.
  3. About time! They loaded them the day we got off the Voyage of the Vikings last summer!!!
  4. Thanks for her update…I can totally relate to her medical predicament…about the same time..had a compression fracture I ignored for 2 weeks, then diagnosed and kyphoplasty performed…still modest pain 3 weeks later and in a brace (uncomfortable) for 3 months. Her cancer journey is different, so am wishing her well on that (mine was breast cancer )…but heading for a cruise next week …I can be miserable at home or on a ship…I choose ship! She’ll be back sailing, I’m sure!
  5. Library with Exploration Cafe! Favorite hangout!
  6. Re:luggage. You failed to mention that probably all the boxes and perhaps a suitcase or two contain yarn for Judy! Have a great cruise…remember our ‘18 WC fondly.
  7. On your Navigator App you will find the link to many free online newspapers/Magazines. I used that a lot!
  8. Had lobster in MDR for last gala night but it was on East Coast cruise. With the scarcity of lobster lately, I’m not surprised. I sure don’t care for “warm weather lobster”’which can be substituted.
  9. Too involved for us but thank you for suggesting…I’m recovering from broken back ( in brace) and hubby is 80 and has to handle luggage and me😁 . Taxi is probably going to be it.
  10. HAL is showing a shuttle ( no excursion) from Port Everglades to Miami Airport for our Jan. 25 disembarking. Does anyone have experience doing it? How early do we get it? Flight isn’t until 2 so no problem with time.
  11. Zaandam still has our old beloved library…complete with Exploration Cafe. Love it!
  12. So sorry about your incident! I will say that my husband and I never go ashore in most places nowadays without wearing our “pickpocket proof pants” from here:https://www.clothingarts.com/?gclid=CjwKCAiApvebBhAvEiwAe7mHSLZrPiCziNyg4Zh7uTCnPDs2bXatPbF06tRBxqPYQ9EPDX0XBSB7XRoCBTUQAvD_BwE We each have several pair. We know it’s stopped at least one attempt. Excellent quality.
  13. I’ve done this cruise formany years. About 150 people involved. We use the main stage usually before dinner at about 5 so it doesn’t interrupt anyone else. Then the Crows Nest or Lido pool area at 10pm for what I refer to as our “Pub Night”…other times we may be in the Hudson Room for something, etc. I doubt anyone will be impacted. This is the first time on a Pinnacle Class ship so venues might be different. If you can overhear us, it’s great music! 25th anniversary of this cruise on HAL.
  14. FWIW...if anyone tests positive, your account is flagged...no getting off ship, no going anywhere. You are red-lined (or pink if I recall).
  15. On the Pinnacle Class ships we “downgrade “ ourselves to a Verandah and NOT a Vista Suite which we would usually book on the older ships. Why? Because the Vista Suites on the new ships have the bed next to the Verandah door whereas on the Verandah cabins the couch and desk are there which we prefer. If traveling with a third person, the Vista Suites will provide a bit more privacy since there’s sort of a demarcation between the couch area and bed area. All too closed up for us.
  16. I wear 1pair hiking shoes on plane, bring one pair sneakers and 1 pair black flats. That’s it!
  17. Outer MUST be waterproof shell/raincoat, under that a fleece or sweatshirt, then normal shirt. 3 pair pants (one wearing…1 black for dinner….jeans worn on plane, 1 in case jeans wet …4-5 tops…one “dressy”.) (I have waterproof pants I usually will take on AK or other rainy cruises .) You’re not at home…wearing things day after day is not a problem! Two pjs. Nobody will care what you wear. If emergency, ship laundry is great.
  18. We were trying to avoid another suitcase because we do not buy souvenirs, etc. at our age…we’re getting rid of things! And…the two of us cannot handle 2 suitcases with 2 carryons. For a 71-day cruise we need medical “stuff” that is consumed during the cruise. One carryon has only a machine I use for lymphedema. Perhaps we’ll get an extra suitcase to send then leave it for the crew. Someone can use it. Thank you all!👍🛳
  19. FYI: Rudi’s Pop Up does not offer a full menu like the full restaurant has. I was disappointed with what was offered so did not book it. Not sure if it’s always the same preset menu or not. Perhaps someone can answer that.
  20. Rudi’s, but prepare by fasting three days before🤪…food amounts are huge but excellent so you tend to clean your plate!
  21. Yes, saw that and that’s what I thought. When we did a WC it was no problem since I knew the extra bag of” consumables “ would be ( and correctly assumed) with items from the cruise…needed a whole bag just for what the ship gave us over that cruise!
  22. I know we can send luggage ahead, but I’d like to send a box of “stuff” (Consumables) ahead for a 71-Day cruise. Please advise IF YOU HAVE DONE IT. Thanks🛳👍
  23. If they put on lobster in Charlottetown (or before) and offer it for $35/pp..,do it!!!! Best lobster we’ve had in years…anywhere! Large (probably 1.5), steamed right and delicious! They had a steward (Ralph!) come around signing you up for it. Told him we never go to the MDR so we’d have to have it in the Lido…no problem! Tell Ralph you’re interested in doing it if they offer it …he’s in the Lido… can’t miss him.
  24. No, we did the usual put the luggage (2) out by midnight but had 5* priority disembarkation but so did a lot of folks, plus the bus to Logan went off early, too. Line to disembark went way way around…
