  1. That has puzzled me since they switched from North South to East West. 🤔
  2. While docked in Cozumel, I believe, we were watching for runners, when an ambulance made its way to the ship. They came aboard with their stretcher. After a while they came out with a patient on the stretcher, who was not liking this one bit. She was flailing about and doing everything she could to keep the crew from getting the stretcher into the ambulance bay. The staff was trying to reasonwith her and she calmed down a bit and off they went. Just as they made the turn onto the main branch of the pier they stopped and just sat there a while. Then they slowly backed their down the pier to the ship. They offloaded her andNCL crew put her ina wheelchair, presented her with some paperwork to sign, and took her back on board. Always wondered what the story was. I know, none of my business but having worked at Charity Hospital, New Orleans and had more than my share of unruly patients, I try to imagine which scenario goes with this situation.
  3. Your statement should say whether your OBC is refundable or not. The BA has a separate desk in the atrium just for OBC questions. you should be able to use your credit for dining, but only once onboard. Enjoy!
  4. On the BA last week on night one and two we had coast guard evacs of a passenger. We were late getting into out first port because of it, but a passengers well being overrides that minor inconvenience. On our first cruise out of New Orleans, many years ago we were met at the port by the coroner’s van.
  5. FYI, I closed DHs account on Wednesday. It said info would be deleted within seven days. Today is Monday and so far not able to reapply. I hope that the seven day release actually happens but I’m not too optimistic based on my experience thus far. When you call the support lines it says it is after hours p, even though it is not, and when you click on the support link it says the page cannot be found. Hmmm 🤔 . Come Thursday morning, I’m going to search out the head of this program at NCL. Years ago all you did was submit your DD214, easy peazy. Certainly they can do that again if you are stuck in the quagmire of ID.me. We shall see.
  6. My Cajun husband likes his drinks very spicy and always asks the bartender to bring him the Tabasco and Worcestershire to him when they serve the drinks. We tend to hang out at the same bar once we find one we like and after the first day they automatically do it.
  7. But we were not talking about a jewel class ship, we were talking about the dawn, which you yourself said does not have an observation lounge. Or am I confused?
  8. I’d yo mean that you paid for the true cost of the certificates, say $150 and you got #100 of OBC that is unspent do they apply that amount to reduce your cost of the certificate, the answer is no. It is use it or lose it. The CN staff will blow smoke and make it appear that way but it just isn’t so, or at least it hasn’t been in my experience.
  9. If you are applying as a couple be sure to apply on your own account and not together on one account. See the thread I started on why this may be important for you or not.
  10. If you are in certain states, TX and LA for certain, you will be charged the state tax on your drinks until you leave state water. Usually comes to less than $1 per drink. if you are having a comp dinner in Cagneys, say, and decide to add a lobster tail to your steak, there is a gratuity added to that $25 add on. if you order a drink that is more than the $15 limit, say you get a glass of wine that is $17/glass you will pay a gratuity on that overage amount. this was from my experience last week on the BA. Hope that helps. All prices I used are in USD.
  11. I believe when complawyer said spinnaker he was referring to Topsiders, which is an outdoor bar and makes for great viewing. We were on the Star (sister ship) inAugustand spent a good bit of time there. We saw Elements several times years ago and loved it. It is worth the time, in my opinion. We can appreciate the bells and whistles of the big ships, but much prefer the smaller ships. Jewel class is our favorite but we are okay with Dawn and Star. We just booked the Dawn for a 6/24 family cruise to the British Isles.
  12. We were onBA last week and yes the dailies are delivered each evening with turndown service. yes, there was a laundry special (7 day) for 19.95. weather is usually warm once out of the Gulf but bring a wrap or light jacket. We found the ship air conditioning was set on “meat locker” so I needed a wrap for inside. As someone said OLA will be cool, and likely cold. Add to the temp is the humidity and wind off the water and January can be pretty miserable if you’re not prepared. super dittos to stopping at Central Grocery! I was raised in NO and a muffle attack from there is a national treasure. They are huge, though, so order a half, which DH and I then half and it’s plenty. If you’ve saved room for desert, or get one for later, cross the street and head left to the praline shop for a tasty treat. Aunt Sally’s is the name, I think, but your nose will lead you there.
  13. I was on this cruise also. Yes, it departs at 4:00. Our meal in Manhattan was adequate, but I was under the assumption there was a band and dancing and that didn’t happen. We had four specialty dinings 3 of which were good, but LaCucina was awful. Shanghai was very good, but you have to share a bar style table, which was okay and it is very noisy. The atrium is a horrific wasteland in terms of a place to have a beverage or coffee without the mind numbing shrieks of game players. It astounds me that when there are empty venues in the daytime they don’t shift those DIY entertainment experiences to somewhere else. disembarking was generally well done once an officer got everyone lined up in the right spot. Lots of folks who had been at the appointed spot since 5:30 due to a flight change to 9:30, wound up being toward the end of the line when they sent us in the other direction. Stupid that something that is done every week cannot be second nature to the disembarking crew. The food in August on the StR was by far even worse than the BA, so be glad you didn’t have to endure that. we are Diamond on NCL and our good friends are RCL loyalists, the equivalent to Diamond. They are furious with their recent TA and changes RCL is making and, I never though I’d hear this from them, but they are jumping ship! You can pretty much carbon copy the same complaints we have as theirs about Royal.
  14. Last week on the BA, the wine list in Cagneys was a bit larger. There were five or six whites, we tried a blend we’ve never had before and it was quite nice, a Spanish wine if I remember correctly. So maybe the supply chain is beginning to clear a bit, or that other suppliers are being found.
  15. Normally for DH and I it would not have made a difference but we are cruising with our grandchildren in 2024 and as they are minor cannot be in a room alone (18 and 16) so I will be with one teen, DH with the other. As we are both qualify for the discount we can get it off both rooms, but as I registered us both under my name, not knowing any better, his status is not eligible for a second room as it is linked to my account. if we were never to cruise in separate cabins it wouldn’t matter one bit. So if that is your situation, then it won’t matter, but if you think you may want to do a cruise where you would like discounts on two rooms then, make sure you register under your own account.
  16. As a fellow Cajun, I’m glad I could help. The old program was not administered through an outside party so once NCL had a DD214 on file that was that. This is very quick and easy but if there is a problem you’re dealing with an outside entity. my PCC was very frustrated that there was nothing they could do and that ID me is so no responsive. But it’s a new program and I would hope that they would have an instruction set to prevent this from happening to anyone else.
  17. My husband is a veteran and we were delighted to see that NCL was reinstating its military discount and extending it to spouses. I do all the bookings, etc on our cruises so we only use my account. When I did the application for DH it attached his discount, as well as mine, to my NCL account. So why is this a bad thing you ask? Well, normally it wouldn’t matter at all, but we are booking a family cruise with our minor grandchildren, so I will be in a cabin with granddaughter and DH will be with grandson. We can each use our discount for each cabin. Cool, right? Well, my PCC called and said DHs veteran status is not showing up in HIS account so he can’t use it, but I can because I’m registered in MY account. NCL cannot change this as the verification is done through ID me. They have not responded to any of my emails or chats and their phone message says (no matter the time of day) that it is after business hours please call again. So I have discovered through my PCC that a few other agents at their morning meeting had customers with the same problem. And she gave me guidance on how they had resolved it. it is a great program and very quick and easy to apply and get approved for, but be SURE if you are the vet to log into your account before applying, then go to your spouses account for their verification. It is arduous to fix and takes a seven day waiting period before your old account is deleted and you can reapply.
  18. I submitted mine in October all the way out to a 12/23 cruise. I thought it was interesting that they extended it that far out, but they did. I have two 2024 cruises I need to do now.
  19. Last week on the BA they ran out of Bloody Mary mix and were using Clamato instead.
  20. Last week on the BA there were no Ambassadore and 5 diamonds. On the Star in August there were 2 ambassadors and 70 some diamonds. Longer and non-US cruises usually have higher numbers of upper tier cruisers.
  21. Sorry, I should have said top left side. 😬
  22. We were on this cruise with you, Gary and I had hoped to meet you at the meet greet but I had to slip out early. Agree with your assessment, but my only complaint is the noise level in the atrium. It astounds me that NCL insists on using the atrium for spirited day time activities when the theater or other venues were available. I was trying to talk to the customer service desk about my plumbing and at another time the CN desk and it was nearly impossible to understand each other. It also impacted our ability to have easy conversation over lunch at OShean’s. It’s a waste, IMHO, of a lovely bar and coffee area and has to be terrible for those employees who have to talk over all that noise. Otherwise it was a very relaxing. We did early walk off and it was a bit of a mess as an officer had told the first groups of folks to line up at point A and then someone came by and said no, the line starts at point B. That of course put the line backwards and you know how well that went over. Two large groups had had their 11:30 flights rescheduled for 9:30 😳 so they were understandably anxious to get off first, but when they explained it to the now front of the line there was a minimal amount of grumbling. I hope they all made it to MSY in time. this was our first time parking at Fulton Garage (we usually are in the whale lot) and we were very impressed. we will be back board 2/26 so if I can check on anything for y’all let me know and I’ll do my best.
  23. Toward the top right hand side of your account page the first lines are about your balance, account activity, etc. just below that but above the tabs it should say rewards and show you the number of points you have. If there is nothing there then you have no points. you will get your 25,000 points after you spend $1,000 in the first 90 days. If you’ve not reached that thresholds you will not have any points, or you may have points based on your purchases but that big 25,000 will not be applied until you’ve charged $1,000.
