  1. I got an email from Cunard re our Dec 11th cruise this morning and noticed it wasn’t mentioned .Just logged on to double check and you are quite the ‘Health Check’ requirement to be filled in 3 days before departure has disappeared.
  2. Boarding QV next weekend .May I ask here about ‘ covid’ ? Is it mask wearing protocols for all again or have they been relaxed ? Are you aware of covid on board ( crew or pax) ….remove if not appropriate place @Host Hattie
  3. @indiana123…you posted exactly what I wish I had posted ….thank you and well said ….also thank you to @Victoria2….for all your common sense posts
  4. We have never had a late boarding time at Southampton before , always arrived around the right time and on board very quickly (noon’ish) never had to sit and wait . First time with Cunard so not familiar with their terminal.Have an ‘arrival’ time of 3pm .We will check out of our hotel at noon just outside Southampton .We don’t really want to leave our car loaded with luggage in a city car park so intend driving to the terminal and waiting there. What are the facilities like? Is it similar to an airport re seating, refreshments etc or more basic? …Tia😀
  5. majortom10….I see you live in Stone , I live in Trentham .I am on the QV in 3 weeks ….would it help if I took the watch back and ask them to sort something out for you ?
  6. When tests were mandatory for everyone Cunard recommended ‘Prenetics’ to me .the price then was £17 and the results were emailed within 3 hours .
  7. Please don’t shoot me down , this is just a thought.Do you think Cunard are restricting the use of these smaller mobility scooters to deter obese/lazy people from taking them on board.Didn’t the Spanish Costa hotels ban them as non disabled ‘ Brits’( oops that will upset some of you) were hiring them and careering around all over the place ? I do not think for a moment the OP is not in genuine need.
  8. We don’t have any of the drink packages .Is tap water ( iced or otherwise) provided with dinner in the MDR ?
  9. Thanks for posting .Has the mandatory mask protocol been removed?
  10. Thank you for all your posts , loved your pics and appreciated all the information.Safe journey home.
  11. Not just booking with a TA…I was offered the choice when I booked online direct with Cunard 2 months ago when I booked our up and coming Dec cruise on QV.
  12. Thank you …similar to the Baico on Celebrity or the Living Room on Saga .
  13. Am I right in assuming there is a charge for these delicious looking small plates ? I cannot see the prices on the menu shown HH, are the individual prices displayed elsewhere?
  14. We are on the QV Dec11th too.I chose the cabin when I booked and at that time it was showing Early or Late as the only options …I chose early ‘ table for 2’ …yesterday the options shown are ‘ Anytime…Early …Late ‘ …I changed to the Anytime option .

    TAXI IN FUNCHAL

If there aren’t any taxis on the dock waiting for cruise passengers , walk to the main road , there is a taxi rank opposite the CR7 Hotel .Depending on where the ship docks it is either a 10 minute walk ( from the furthest away) to 5 minutes if it docks directly in front of the hotel ….if it does berth here then the rank is behind the hotel.
  16. Lots of information and advice re what men should or should not wear .I am a little confused as to what women can wear on formal nights.I have black evening pants which I thought I would wear with a very dark blue short sleeved lined top that has sequins of the same colour all over it .It is quite subdued but never the less it would be classed as ‘ sparkly’ .I have just asked a friend if this would be appropriate .She replied that very few, if any , wear anything ‘ sparkly’.This statement has thrown me .( she has cruised half a dozen times in Cunard PG) I wore this on a formal night on a Saga cruise and I didn’t feel out of place .Would some of you lovely helpful ladies please advise me?
  17. I have just completed a questionnaire I received via email from Cunard , quite lengthy and detailed , some multiple choice questions others asking my opinion on various subjects. They sought my opinions re children , dress code, speciality restaurants, entertainment, drinks packages, gratuities , ports of call etc….I was able to make my point that I chose Cunard because it isn’t AI and did stress that was one of the main reasons I have decided to try Cunard for the first time this year. We sailed with Saga earlier this year and felt we were subsidising other passengers drinking habits. We don’t drink alcohol but had paid the same price for our cruise that those drinking copious amounts had.I could purchase Travel Insurance cheaper than the included Saga included insurance and was therefore subsidising those who couldn’t get it cheaper elsewhere. We prefer to drive ourselves and therefor we subsidised others that use their private transfers…..we choose port parking and we have that with Cunard. We dislike coach driven excursion , much prefer to do our own thing and have always been content with MDR offerings on our previous cruises but joined friends occasionally in a speciality restaurant. We always pay gratuities so didn’t mind that aspect and will pay them willingly on our up and coming Cunard cruise.I have compared Cunard price with Saga price , similar itinerary, cabin and deck and (worked out per person per day) and the saving on this one cruise is easily enough to cover the cost of our Norway cruise next year( Celebrity ‘ cruise only’ fare….not ‘Always Included’ )……BOGOF indeed….we bought one and got one free! ….we tried Saga as we wanted a Winter Sun holiday and there was very little choice on offer at the time as we didn’t want to take any chances re covid in an airport/aeroplane…..we took a chance as there were protocols in place and there were no covid cases on our cruise. One aspect we didn’t enjoy was that the Saga cruise had a ‘ care home ‘ feel to it….Will Cunard be different???
  18. Thanks for the info @HostHattie
  19. Rough idea ( or exact if known😀) of percentage of passengers on recent sailings.I have just read on another companies FB page that crew numbers are reduced , not necessarily due to covid but recruitment issues.Has this affected any Cunard cruises? I am curious as there appears to be a lot of cabins still available on all grades of cabin on the QV sailing I have booked for December.Do you think the rising cost of living is deterring people from booking or are they waiting for last minute deals?
  20. If there is a Roaring 20’s formal night is it compulsory or will standard formal attire be fine.( black tie for hubby and something sparkly for me) ? Black &White won’t be a problem but I am definitely not into flapper dresses..Not sailed with Cunard before and wondered if umbrellas are provided . I will take my own folding brollies but have sometimes found the large golf brollies provided by other lines useful….Tia.
