  1. Amazing pictures Britboy and what an experience! We also did the Whitehorse Pass train ride on our visit to Skagway. Your pictures, Gettingwarmer, but I'll post them anyway...
  2. and then did a whale watching boat trip....
  3. Another day of great photographs so thanks for the memories. On our grand trip in 2007 we left Vancouver and travelled south to Seattle where we spent somr time with my husband's cousin and her family before we joined an Alaska cruise. We didn't have posh cameras in those days so our pictures are not the best. We didn't see much of the town because we visited the Mendenhall Glacier first...
  4. We flew back from Whistler to Vancouver on a sea plane.....a wonderful experience one I braved opening my eyes...hahaha
  5. We did a day trip to Whistler on the Whistler Mountaineer (don't tell anyone but I actually preferred that journey to the one on the Rocky Mountaineer)
  6. Our second and longer visit to Vancouver was in 2007 and was part of an extended trip to North America. We stayed with cruising friends in Kalamazoo, USA, and then with my lovely friend in Regina, Canada, before doing the Rocky Mountaineer from Calgary to Vancouver. One of the strangest things was seeing a cricket match taking place in Stanley park with totem poles in the background.....
  7. Thank you for the pictures of Vancouver. Once again, they bring back many happy memories. Our first visit was in 1996 and was a 25th wedding anniversary celebration. We did a land tour of the east coast and then flew from Toronto to Calgary to continue the land tour over the Rockies to Vancouver. my dearest and best friend married a Canadian and she moved to Canada straight after her wedding which was 2 weeks after ours. We were bridesmaid for each other. I hadn't seen her for 25 years and she and her husband drove 1,000 miles to see us for 1 night in Banff. We now, of course, keep in touch vi
  8. Your photos of San Francisco brought back lots of happy memories of the 2 visits we made in the 1990s with our son. We haven't visited on a cruise ship though and would love to sail under the Golden Gate. My pictures are very old and we look so young!!! I've lost a lot of the pictures over the years and these are from our first visit in1991 We went again in 1996 and went across to Saucelito for a day Our last visit was in 2004
  9. Our last stop before the airport was at Liberty Market which was a shopping mall that had been created in the 'historic' Naval barracks... I hope that I can join you all on the next section of this world cruise!
  10. Our tour took us out to the Cabrillo Monument on Point Loma....
  11. Dermotsgirl, you are absolutely right....Cabo is very Americanised but the natural beauty of the rock formations is unspoilt and the beaches are very nice too. Our Celebrity 2019 cruise ended in San Diego. Our flight to the Uk didn't leave until the early evening so we did the ship's tour of the area with the airport drop-off which was very convenient and gave us a good oversight of the city. It is the home of the US Pacific fleet so there were a few warships in port. The city is modern and typically American...
  12. After the boat trip we spent some time wandering round the marina and along the beach...
  13. We were on the first tender to the marina and managed to get a boat trip out to the arch before the rush started...
  14. Morning all....it is great to have so many companions to share days on board. Huatulco looked very interesting so I have added it as a port to visit one day. Now to Cabo San Lucas.....we first visited in 2004 as part of my retirement trip but I haven't many pictures from that time. Our second visit was in 2019 when we experienced the most spectacular sail-in
  15. We also had a tasty lunch at a restaurant up in the mountains where we had with amazing views. Costa Rica was fabulous.... We haven't been to Huatulco so will enjoy a ship day but look forward to seeing the pictures.....
  16. Our driver tailor-made the tour so we spent most of our time at the various nature reserves.. Dona Ana reserve The Jungle Crocodile Safari was wonderful because there were only 2 of in our boat (the ship's tour boat was full!) so we were able to do more bird watching than crocodile spotting
  17. We returned to Punta Arenas in October 2019 and booked a private excursion out into the countryside. The port....
  18. Hi Ardennais, I've enjoyed your photos very much so sad to see you go but have a safe trip home. We first visited Punta Arenas in 2004 on a repositioning cruise from Los Angeles to Miami. We were much fitter in those days and so enjoyed more adventurous activities. We did a fabulous 'white water' rafting excursion on the Rio Tenorio which was great fun and not particularly scary....
  19. The transit across Gatun Lake Panama City The Bridge of the Americas
  20. Passing through the locks is an amazing experience
  21. We entered the canal just as the sun rose
  22. The Eco tour involved a 90 minute coach ride through the countryside to a canal side resort and then a boat trip along the canal which visited several small islands to see the wildlife.....very enjoyable...
  23. Our last trip through the Panama Canal was in October 2019....it seems a lifetime ago. We had sailed through the night from Cartagena in a ferocious tropical thunder storm and arrived in to Colon, Panama, just as it began to clear. it was amazing to see the number of ships that were waiting to do the transit of the canal. The ship spent a day in Colon so we had the opportunity to see a little of the town....untouristy and a bit run-down....before going on an excursion to an Eco area of the canal. The pictures are a mixture from a similar trip in 2016 and the 2019 cruise.
