How is the bidding system doing? Any comments?
Itchy&Scratchy replied to Bwana Tom's topic in Princess Cruises
https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2885416-upgrade-bid-accepted-is-this-a-good-cabin/ Poster jennaja (see above) was able to switch cabins after the upgrade was approved/assigned. She got upgraded to R407 and switched it to C409. -
every time we cruise, it's the taxi/uber driver who lifts our suitcases out of the trunk. Sometimes they don't, so my husband fishes them out. I too tend to tip the taxi/uber driver more if they help with the luggage. If they just stand there watching us getting our suitcases out of the trunk, I am a lot less inclined to tip or to tip more...

Can I just leave MDR if I don't like the food?
Itchy&Scratchy replied to Kitty Ellas Mom's topic in First Time Cruisers
I would 100% choose Majestic instead of Caribbean Princess. Never had any food on Princess we didn't like, with a notable exception of the kid's menu on Caribbean Princess many years ago. We cruise on Princess for food. π -
the porter literally puts your bags on a huge dolly and that's it. The person pushing your wheelchair is doing it for a much longer time and distance. We usually give $5 for 2 suitcases. $5 to push the wheelchair at the airport. I think I'd give $10 to push through the terminal and onto the ship.

Haven't cruised Princess in 12 years...

Apex it is.

my experience was from 2018... Who knows what's going to happen in 2023. It looks like everything cruise related is going back to pre-pandemic times right this moment. My kid at that age just watched cartoons or movies on his tablet during dinner (with headphones, of course). Now that he is 11, he chose to talk to us during MDR dinners which pleasantly surprised us. He doesn't do kid's club, though.

well, the joke's on me... Ordered these ones (mint and purple) for myself, because they said 7.87" long. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0B51V1565 They are identical to the ones I got for DH and DS which claimed to be 7.08" long. Oh, well, at least they were much cheaper. -

we book a balcony if the price difference between inside and balcony is negligible and we book a particular balcony cabin at that. I hate aft balconies. When you bid, you have no power over location or actually ending up with the upgrade. -
Upgrade Bids Causing Available Cabins to Disappear on Site?
Itchy&Scratchy replied to seagunthera's topic in Princess Cruises
the difference in price on our Nov cruise is crazy. I paid $2,500 for the 3 of us for the inside. Right now the lowest/cheapest balcony category is $1,709 pp which makes it a total of $4,597 for 3. It would have cost me a lot less to get a balcony when I first booked the cruise. So, I bid my $300 to upgrade, but I am not holding my breath. There weren't any standard obstructed balconies available at the time of the bid, and now there are only 2 available. -
no. It's not even worth it to us to us to get Princess Plus, let alone a much more expensive Princess Premium.

I shop at Sam's. Have never seen Princess cards either in person, or online. I get my Princess cards from Chase with the reward points... I hope they don't have expiration dates, because I got a couple of them last year and a couple this year.

when and where are you sailing? If it's still within the winter break, there will be MANY kids.

not all. π Allure doesn't have waterslides.

Signing up child for C&A number
Itchy&Scratchy replied to SwissMiss USA's topic in Royal Caribbean International
has she cruised with you before on RCI? Our DS is 11 and he was assigned his number on his very first cruise with RCI at 3. It shows up on some invoices and doesn't on others, but he has the same status as we do, even though he has fewer cruises. -
Whatβs going on with main dining on Allure?
Itchy&Scratchy replied to Dan83's topic in Royal Caribbean International
it was like that for us in June (reservations for MTD for 6:30), but we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes, except for the first formal night - that one was a good 25-30 minutes. The service was acceptably speedy, except for one waiter team, who was like molasses. I think a lot of waiters were out sick or just didn't exist, names on the table holders didn't match, and many different waiters took orders and brought out food. -

Taxi to Port Everglades without carseats
Itchy&Scratchy replied to kaminakun's topic in Family Cruises
they drive like maniacs, and are not exempt from the laws of physics. You will forever regret it if you get in an accident with your unrestrained kids. Our taxi driver once drove off while I was buckling the kid into his car seat, while standing OUTSIDE of the taxi. I had to yell... What car seats do you have at home? Are you purchasing a separate seat on the plane for your 1 yo or is he/she going to be a lap baby? How tall and heavy is your 3 yo? -

They are here! Very cute and smooth silicone, but the previous posters were right - beware of sizing. Definitely go with another vendor who sells a larger size band unless you are buying them for a dainty lady, small/skinny man, or a preteen/child. They'll fit my 11 yo big boy (5'1, >100#), but on my wrist it had to be on the last punch and it was borderline tight. I am a large woman with non-dainty wrists - 7.5" min, and I will have to buy one for myself from a different vendor. The only reason I went with this vendor is because at the time it was the only one that sold two different camo colors in the same package. Others followed suit AFTER I purchased it. For my kid, but I am modeling it: Oh, hubs woke up just in time to model - it actually fits him better, he is 6'1, but athletic (skinny build, <200#), so you could call him a large man, but it wouldn't be true for this particular review: Here is what we used in 2019: -

I hope my 11 yo will fully appreciate it. π He and DH were truly bored during Mama Mia!, which is weird. I understand being bored by Cats... He has seen many other musicals/musical productions on NCL, Princess and RCI, and loved them all. I didn't take him to Grease on Harmony last year, though - it was not appropriate for him. However, a very risque musical on NCL went way over his head at 7 yo. π DS was, however, dismayed the people smoking on stage. thanks, I'll have to bring an extra night light. I am night blind, and I actually fell on the Allure while trying to navigate my way into the bathroom in the middle of the night. Harmony had a built-in night light in the bathroom, so I didn't bring one when we sailed on the Allure. -
