  1. I guess the question is if I got it two Saturdays ago will I still be infectious this 3rd Saturday. Yes they know. They have all had Covid and are boosted. They don't seem to be too worried about it but are letting us make the final call.
  2. Thanks for asking. I'm better and feel almost 100% but I still tested positive for Covid this morning. Linda is better and is about two days behind me. I'm worried only in that we have a dinner party at my house this Saturday for two other couples. I hope we are negative by then or we will have to cancel.
  3. Oh totally agree with that. It's one thing to mix Weller Special Reserve in a Old Fashioned but to mix it with a coke would be a waste of good bourbon. Good question. I agree with @DaKahuna Money can't equal high end. I consider Four Roses and Elijah Craig high end but there are very affordable. I've tasted $100 bottles and they tasted like crap.
  4. Thanks for asking. I'm better. I just took a Covid test and I'm still testing positive even though I feel pretty good. I still have a cough from time to time. Linda is better but she is about two days behind me. Problem is we have a dinner party at our house this Saturday. I think I should be fine by then and also Linda but we are cutting it kind of close.
  5. For any of you cocktail lovers out there I highly recommend you watch the Netflix series "Drink Masters." It's like a cooking competition except for making cocktails. I had no idea the craftsmanship, artistry and complexity that went into creating some of these cocktails. They are truly works of art. You should check the show out it's really good.
  6. I agree with that. I don't have a problem with a high end bourbon used in a cocktail. It elevates it.
  7. Me neither but I would love it if they carried it. Love those two. I have seen Bulleit too. Even their rye. I like Bulleit.
  8. I haven’t watched this weeks episode yet but judging from last week he’s bad news . I think he’s a racist and a bully. They need to send him back to Texas.
  9. Looks like I need to step up my game. Finishing up the inside today. I'll try and take some pictures tonight. This breaks my heart. I am so sorry. At least you held him in comfort at the very end.
  10. It's hit or miss on whatever ship you sail on. On Symphony in September the selection was incredible. Symphony selections: Buffalo trace Four Roses Woodford Reserve Angels Envy Old Forester Makers On Liberty on October all they had for bourbon was Buffalo Trace and no Makers. I wish RCL would step up their bourbon game.
  11. Very well said. Sometimes I don't know if I convey everything properly word wise. You nailed it. Great process you did to develop your palatte. That's half the fun.
  12. It’s something I really want to do. I’ve looked at some bus tours that take you to the distilleries. Trying to figure out the best way to do it.
  13. It’s on my list. There is a sailing cruise that takes you to some of the different islands and distilleries.
  14. Would that then mean that Bourbon is better than Whiskey and that I should avoid American Whiskey not considered Bourbon? No I don't think Bourbon is better than American Whiskey but I tend to prefer bourbon. Let's say a Makers or Buffalo Trace over say Jack Daniels which is American Whiskey. It's all about what you like to taste. I have not drank a lot of Scotch so I'm a newbie on that. I would say I like Glenfiddich and Balvenie which are real solid. The Johnny Walkers, Red, Blue and Black are fine but seem like they are a lot of hype. There are better brands out there. A single malt is made with malted barley in pot stills at a single distillery. The goal is to achieve very distinctive flavors and nuances that exemplify a single distillery's style. A blended scotch whisky is made by combining several single malts with wheat and/or corn whiskies in column stills As yo go on your journey you will find a lot distilleries will blend. Crown Royal is a Canadian Whiskey that is blended with over 50 whiskeys. There are other brands of bourbons that will blend their bourbons to create different flavor profiles. The other thing that distilleries do is finish casks. Some will age in charred oak but then finish aging in a port cask, or a sherry cask, etc. Tequila's are now doing this a lot too. Some of my favorite bourbon's are finished in port or sherry casks. Remember I have a sweet tooth so I like the sweeter bourbons. I am trying to learn more about Irish Whiskey and Scotch. I would recommend for Irish whiskey trying, Jameson, Red Breast, Yellow Spot, Teeling and Writer's Tears. those are my favorites so far. I still don't know what my favorite Scotch is. Most of the fun is the adventure. Cheers, The Dog
  15. Thanks Dave. I do think it was Bob who initially suggested it. I am no expert by any means but I am learning. Basically the difference is this. All bourbon is whiskey but not all whiskey is bourbon. In order to be classified as bourbon it has to made with these rules. It must be made in the United States. ... Aging must take place in a new, charred, oak barrel. ... The mash must be at least 51 percent corn. ...but can have other grains added such as rye or barley. The whiskey cannot enter the barrel at higher than 125 proof. ... Nothing can be added but water and only to lessen the proof when necessary. So Whiskey can have other percentages such barley, rye, wheat. I like the wheated bourbons since they tend to be sweeter. The same can go with rye. I love the the sweetness. The higher the proof the more burn you will taste. Scotch Whiskey is just that. Whiskey that's made in Scotland. It may have peat in it. Peated whisky is given a smoky flavour by compounds which are released by the peat fires used to dry malted barley. Irish Whiskey is just that. Whiskey that is made in Ireland. There are four types of Irish Whiskey. Single Malt Irish Whiskey (both peated and unpeated), Single Grain Irish Whiskey, Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey and Blended Irish Whiskey. Since I don't know what Norwegian has brand wise. I would say since you have the drink package. Try everything. When I do tastings I ask to try neat at first. without ice, then drop an ice cube in it as you taste it to let the water open it up. Most of the time I always get whiskey and bourbon on the rocks. As far as drinks the classic Old Fashioned is a must but try it with different bourbons. I don't think I have ever had an old fashioned with scotch or Irish whiskey. Next try a Manhattan which is normally made with Rye Whiskey. Most people who like Scotch and Irish Whiskey drink it on the rocks but you could ask the bartender if there are any cocktails made with them. Bourbon and Whiskey is an acquired taste so it may take a few drinks to train your palette. In the end I think you will really like it. If I can answer any more questions please ask. have fun exploring. Cheers!
  16. Congratulations on that great milestone. Or should i say nauticalstone? I will be thinking of you. Fingers crossed you all will be ok and feel great to cruise.
  17. Was on Liberty this past October. Read my review here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2887375-sea-dog-is-live-with-life-on-liberty-and-the-pursuit-of-happiness-in-the-mdr-10-16/ Solarium is small but nice. Pools are fine and so are the hot tubs Kids have a splashzone Food in the MDR was excellent We did not go to many of the headliner shows but they do have a broadway musical Saturday Night Fever which is awesome DOn't know about Labadee
  18. I saw a picture of it and it is a lot larger. That's the reason why everyone orders two or more tails with the Bahaman lobster tail because they are so small. I ate four on our last cruise. Each tail was about 2-3 bites.
  19. Congratulations! That is wonderful news. So true. They fight one minute like brothers and sisters and the next they are curled up laying on one another. They are so different in so many ways but you can see the bond they have that they know they are siblings. Life is good, a lot of work with them some times but it's good.
  20. I love this idea. Great looking ornaments. I think Jonathan only made one ornament for our tree. We mostly have various pics of him as ornaments.
  21. Interesting that Escargot is only on a few nights not every night before. I am curious about Lobster night. Does that go away? Normally on lobster night they serve a Bahamian lobster not a cold water Maine. where you can have seconds or thirds at no charge. I wonder if this is gone now and replaced by the Maine lobster with a charge for a second tail?
  22. Thanks for all the requests to see more of Lizzy and Charlie. I sometimes forget to document their life and growth. Here is a video of one of their nightly routines. I call this game, "Yackity Yack."
  23. I'm happy he is feeling better and is now discharged. There sure has been a lot of stuff going around. Our Children's hospital here is packed with kids having RSV issues. I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Graycie. I hope you have comfort in knowing that you gave her a great life of love, food, warmth and security. She will live in your hearts forever.
