  1. Interesting. Thanks for clarifying in the the followup question. I'm not surprised they do that. I'm hoping that for most of the time it's smooth sailing for me through security at airports. Been there and done that. I said to myself also I won't make that mistake again. I hope you are feeling better. It's a slow process. For some reason my surgical knee has been more sore lately. I think it's just the ups and downs of the healing process.
  2. Thank you. I always tip the porters but being threatening will make me go to another porter.
  3. Thanks everyone for your input. And yes I’m “that guy” who gets to the airport 3 hours before a flight.
  4. Just got approved for my TSA Precheck. That will make things a little easier at the airport. How many of you have it and do you like it?
  5. I’ve made that before. Fantastic. I love all her recipes. Thanks I will check that out. Mines a 11 Max pro so it will not work but will when I get I get the new 14 I’ll have to see if it’s compatible.
  6. I've got a wireless charger for my phone but have never used it because my battery used to stay good all day. Now my phone is over two years old and I've noticed that it does not stay charged the whole day. What do you recommend on a cruise or an airplane where you don't have access to a plug for charging. Any good portable chargers out there?
  7. We only use paper plates for just us and never for guests. We will use them especially for a lunch sandwich or breakfast. For dinner if I make a meal we will use or dishes and always use dishes for guests.
  8. The Blue Devils and Vanguard are my favorites. Got to watch them many times including when we the DCI Nationals were in Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium. Our television station was the main sponsor so I got to watch everyone perform in the owners suite. The sound was so incredible, powerful and so moving. It made me cry.
  9. We get ours from Sam's too. They are great. This is what we get. I know I have not thought about that, but I have counted the seconds for timing at certain lights. 😉 Thanks, it was pretty tasty. I think I gained 2 pounds. I played in a drum line in college. I am a huge fan of DCI. The bands that play every summer in competition are the best of the best. Here is the Santa Clara Vanguard this year. For drum lines no body is better than the Top Secret Drum Corps from Switzerland. These guys are amazing to watch.
  10. Sailing on Symphony on September 16th. Anyone know what terminal she will be out of?
  11. I can only imagine. God bless you for the work you did. It's important that all kids have exposure to music and to learn an instrument. It makes you a better student and teaches life skills way beyond the musical skill.
  12. No worries none taken. We drummers are used to all the jokes and everything. I can't tell you how many drummer jokes I've heard over the years. You are exactly right about being able to tell who was going to be drummers. My old high school band teacher could instantly tell. And yes they knew one level 'LOUD." I prided myself in being a finesse drummer. Through out my career whether I was playing classical or in a jazz band or small combo I had to play with sensitivity and play "the room," It takes a lot of skill to play soft most kids starting out can't do that. As an organist I respect you. I played with in a combo for awhile with a jazz organist. The bass lines he could play with his feet were amazing. I'm a big fan of Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff. Fantastic jazz organists.
  13. So tonight since Jonathan was home and we had leftovers from last night’s Steakpalooza dinner party (which I forgot to take pictures) we decided to do round two. First off marinating the steaks with my original marinade. I don’t measure but instead eyeball and feel. Sea Dogs Steak marinade: Rub steaks with Kansas City Cowtown Steak rub and Harleys Seasoning Melt butter approximately 1TB per side of steak With couple cloves of garlic Pour equal parts Worcestershire sauce Teriyaki sauce Light Soy sauce Dash of liquid smoke Season with Garlic Powder Onion powder Sea salt Pepper Cool and then pour over steaks then refrigerate. Butter will solidify and make it great for basting. Twice baked potatoes from this recipe. I tweak adding some Philadelphia Cream Cheese https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/twice-baked-potatoes-recipe-1925596 Greek orzo salad from this recipe https://www.simplyscratch.com/greek-orzo-salad/ Caprese Salad from this recipe. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/228126/caprese-salad-with-balsamic-reduction/ Bacon wrapped Asparagus from this recipe https://www.wellplated.com/bacon-wrapped-asparagus/ In this picture the twice baked reheated does not look as good but it still tasted great. Desert is a chocolate bomb cake from our Hy-Vee Bakery. It has layers of chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache. Sliced with a scoop of Belfonte Chocolate Silk Ice Cream and a dollop of chocolate syrup Godiva Chocolate Martini https://www.food.com/recipe/godiva-chocolate-martini-219828 Great dinner and our tummy was very happy. Cheers! Sea Dog
  14. Happy Anniversary to you and Lisa. That food looks amazing. 20oz Ribeye now we are talking. I've always wanted to try that. I had a friend who made her own pasta. What a difference in taste it made. It was incredible. That dish looks so good. Being a drummer/percussionist my whole life I would say we are a different breed but for the better. Most people can't do 4-way coordination/syncopation. We think different. As a bachelor in two different apartments for seven years apiece. I can honestly say the stove on each was never turned on. I ate out every meal. I basically had beer in the fridge. That's all.
  15. Yeah I guess that would be accurate. They are a pain to make but oh so good. They have so called twice baked potatoes that are made up at the grocery store but they don't taste very good. The recipe I posted above is Lee Drummond's (Pioneer Woman) recipe. I tweak it by adding some Philadelphia cream cheese to the recipe. So good.
  16. We use paper plates too. That's one reason our dishwasher has lasted so long we run it about once a week. After my parents passed I inherited their silver and china. My wife talked about if we would ever use it and said no so we sold it all.
  17. As a gift for hosting one of friends who knows I'm a Christmas freak gave me this. I'm recreating the meal again for tonight. I'll make sure to post some pics.
  18. I think that's the only way I could of tried all those. Every cruise I try to drink different cocktails. It's a good way to see what you like and don't like. With the drink package If I order something and I don't like it I can say not for me can and I'll try something else. I liked more cocktails than disliked. It helps too to order off the drink menu's to see what's in them. A lot of times I'll see someone drinking a cocktail that looks unfamiliar too me so I will just ask them what they are drinking?
